This does make sense, because needing a whole body shell to be present at a station that's only doing one small process to part of the car is obviously going to take a lot more space than if you only have part of a car present.

It certainly has significant benefits for manufacturers and even repair shops (as a small redesign of repair lifts could be used to disconnect the battery area and lift the car out of it for esier maintenance/repair.
But making large castings will have long-term cost implications after an accident, and thus insurance premiums. Gone will be the days of replacing or repairing just the affected section, as it will become necessary to replace bigger assemblies.
Will it ultimately matter? Only if the manufacturing cost savings are passed on to the buyer and the savings are bigger than the accident repair costs over the life of the vehicle.

Failure is an option, which is why you have insurance. If your car design saves you money in production but does not sell because of high insurance costs then that design is going to change.
Hertz is selling some of there Tesla's in part because of repair costs. Repairability is becoming an issue.
If you are buying a luxury vehicle insurance cost is generally not an issue, it is for the more general vehicle consumer.

Essentially, Teslas are of unibody construction. Even the pickup. Canoo has a different
approach. They build a separate rolling platform called a skateboard & mount any of their
5 model bodies on top of it. One powertrain. 5 Models.

The unboxed assembly process will allow for humanoid robots as operators on the main subassemblies... human operators are minimized moving forward.

Because $1 trillion establishment does not want electric vehicles with their learn maintenance. My Tesla has 170,000 miles on the original battery, original brake pads. It’s the most maintenance free car I’ve gone out of the last 14 vehicles I’ve owned.

Elon Musc should rethink his love of the Russian President Putin .. The understandable recent arson messages have made me no longer looking to buy a Tesla . SLAVA UKRAINE.

Stop with this crap. You talk about traditional auto makers as if they ENJOY making production lines complicated. You know, I have a carbon fiber submarine that will get you to the Titanic better than regular subs.
