    My department had one of these trucks. 1999 model. It was useful when it was in service, but it was out of service 2 months out of the year. Eventually it became shot and was retired. We also didn’t have a pump and it was 20 feet wide with the outriggers.

    We had an E one with a bronto on it. Never worked right from day one. After 2 years of problems and a law suit, they bought it back.

      My city still has theirs since 1996-98
      "The HLA series provides Bronto's tallest units which currently range from 78 to 112 meters. One 50 meter (167') model was supplied by E-One/Superior to the Calgary Fire Department."
      edit: it's finally retired after 20 years service.

    Is he showing a pierce or a bronto skylift ? Didn't really hear pierce , but heard a lot of bronto skylift. I sure do miss painting fire trucks, best job ever

    He didn't act like he had practice his public speech before the camera turned on. He seemed very timid with his performance not know what was behind each of the doors and the names of certain things about the truck as he walked around.

    @Austin Burnett, i can give u three reasons , #1-height of truck , most are over 12 ft high, #2 -turning radius in cities with crowed streets and the biggest factor i think is #3-cost factors

    American fire trucks are the strongest and most durable in the world. In Russia, 3 US cars have been operating for 25 years, I made a review on them, you can look at their condition.

    This takes less space than a tiller and goes higher...Why are tillers still around, dont get me wrong i love them but this seems more economical

    • @josephcastro9030
      @josephcastro9030 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah this takes up less space but a tiller basically breaks in half ie. The front cab and the back ladder portion allowing it to turn around obstacles and go around sharp turns faster than this piece of equipment, also this piece of equipment requires four stabilizer legs while a tiller only needs two, each truck serves a specialized purpose, tillers arnt useless and neither is this truck

      A tiller is more maneuverable than most typical aerial apparatus. The big reason they fell out of favor had to do with staffing. You have to have 2 drivers order to operate one, many departments began replacing them with straight aerials in order to eliminate the tillerman position. Glad to see they are coming back in favor.
