You should using the waist strap and placing the camera on your back. Honestly the best POV videos Ive seen were configured like that and it shows a lot more of whats going on.

its really about how your weight matches up with your board size, in general i lock my arms forward and use my right knee to guide the back of the board

You can get deeper by actually swimming down with the board after you've initially dunked under. Can't say for sure without seeing you do it. But generally you wanna swim as fast as you can up to the impact zone, try getting under it before it breaks. If it's about to break and you can't make it under in time, wait for it to break in front of you, then time it to go under right after the breaking point, the whitewash explodes twice when it's big enough. Shift your weight forward while leaving hour knee behind to stabilize it and prevent you from somersaulting over, then once you push under with your arms, use your knee to give it an extra push, that should be one strong fluid motion. At the end of that motion your body should be straightened out while you're going under with the momentum, at that point you can brace the board with your arms and kick more with your feet to get you further. The deeper you initially get with your dunk, the further you can paddle after underwater.

yeah this was in newport and its about a 100-150 yd paddle out, sets are rolling in consistent 6-9ft faces, a lot of people don't have the strength for it and most people in huntington and newport don't go out when its over 7ft and current is ripping

+Swagenseller it's only because it's a shallow shore break. all they have to do is go in and find it on the beach
i prefer not to use one on any shore break, even in huntington i only wear one if its overhead because it makes you land everything

lol all good, i use hero 4 black but hero 5 black should have same settings, i use a non t2i for land footage and final cut pro 7 for editing

uuuhggg i guess id have to try in a pool to really know but I'm thinking i could get my waist down to about 4-5 ft deep only on my bodyboard tho
