I love the acolyte a lot, wonderful model. The lich and scarab lord are also majestic af. The regular death knight needs to ditch the boobplate for full armour.
I absolutely love how faithful they were with the building designs. But boy am I gonna miss that green explosion. The only real complaint I have is the obsidian statue/destroyer. Honestly, probably just me, but never in my life have I drawn a connection between those units and the Tolvir.
i think they used to hit because the knife was "ceremonial", so i used to think the old animation was more interesting. all of these units suffer from being attempts to make the unit "cool", whereas the art of the original game was accentuating characteristics of the creatures they were modeling. a stinky abomination was very stinky. A haggard zombie was very haggard. making every unit look sleak and imposing and aesthetic individually detracts from the overall aesthetic of the game imo... previous games carried a feeling of separation between the units.. they were distinct because they weren't all maximally catching to the eye, and had only the features which made them what they were.

0:36 invisible ghost is iconic for me because of his prolonged jaw with long teeth aswell. It's a pity they shrinked it so much. Now he has just a regular 💀 And the fact that the original green effect that appears after the building falls apart is not there is a disappointment 😔 But many of the units look great
The summoning of buildings animation is missing. The destruction of buildings animation was better before; it really felt like an unsummoning. Also, the spirits that circled around the Spirit Tower's shard and the haunted gold mine were really cool and are unfortunately missing now.

@@LeystTV Old maps should, or at least close to, be 100% portable without work. That was what blizzard intended by keeping the engine and other stuff the same, including file names and unit codes. That said, they have improved the editor to give it much more power so Mappers are encouraged to delve into it for improvements to their maps and fix any issues that might arise from some discrepancies

Just looks like an intestine or liver. Think I saw on grubby UD gameplay video the UD flag for spawning stuff is no longer a severed head too. :(

A lot of effects aren't done yet. In the options menu you still have the ability to toggle on and off violence which was mostly the blood effects from WarCraft 3. It is however greyed out at the moment, indicating that it's not done yet. Should probably give the devs feedback about the issue.

I always thought it was weird that Acolytes never used the big dagger they got strapped to their waist when attacking (not that you would normally use Acolytes for melee). Glad to see Reforged gives them the love they deserve. That said, the hero lich and death knight look freaking baller!

All in all it looks pretty awesome model wise. I worry about the particle effects ATM though, and I see missed opportunities within the animations for effects. I suspect the current showing is placeholder but I would like to see the effects and lighting on the model as it acts. Example the obsidian statues, I expect a charging effect and more necrotic energy to suggest how it floats. One of WC3s best hidden gems was the spell editing interface within the world editor. You could layer particle effects and their timing on an animation sequence similar to modern FX engine software. I made a spell where a character exploded into 100 spiders like an evil green firework. Hoping the effects get an update.
I think it's to show that there is a different models for every heroes in reforge like how the paladin has many models. Not just having the same model for every heroes

Thats because the mayority of the nurbians are a spider-like Aqir race that has 6 legs and 2 arms making 8 "legs" like normal spiders while Anub'arak and the Crypt lords are a diferent race of Aqir based on beetles having 4 legs and 2 arms making 6 "legs" like normal beetles.
@@crauter7451 Yeah, unfortunately that doesn't line up with morphology. Arachnids have 8 legs, beetles (who have 6) belong to the hexapoda (insects) within the crustacea supergroup. The only thing these creatures have in common is being arthropods. It's like claiming that an elephant is the same species as a human because they both are vertebrates (but it's actually less ridiculous than this shit, because vertebrates are much more similar). The nerubian beetles have more in common with the mantis and common crab critter than the arachnid nerubians. It doesn't hold up morphologically and we are talking about shit that has been common knowledge for about 250 years now, way before modern biology was even conceived, no genetics are involved. Blizz had no clue what they were doing when designing these creatures and just made something that looks cool, but defies the laws of nature.

In the other hand we must remember that all the Aqir races were created by the Old God C'Thun, he created them mutating the creatures that he found in the desert of Silithus and that's the lore explanation why they are Aqir that are spiders, others are beetles, others wasps, mantis, etc, I don't know if Blizzard think about that while making WCIII or came with that explanation while making WoW (this explanation was written in classic) but at least its evident by the FT campaign that they already had a connection with the Old Gods.

Why is the Death Knight female all of a sudden? I know some people say it's random, but in all my games I've gotten a female DK.

@@crauter7451 Yeah, unfortunately that doesn't line up with morphology. Arachnids have 8 legs, beetles (who have 6) belong to the hexapoda (insects) within the crustacea supergroup. The only thing these creatures have in common is being arthropods. It's like claiming that an elephant is the same species as a human because they both are vertebrates (but it's actually less ridiculous than this shit, because vertebrates are much more similar). The nerubian beetles have more in common with the mantis and common crab critter than the arachnid nerubians. It doesn't hold up morphologically and we are talking about shit that has been common knowledge for about 250 years now, way before modern biology was even conceived, no genetics are involved. Blizz had no clue what they were doing when designing these creatures and just made something that looks cool, but defies the laws of nature.
@@cell4224 Yeah, I know that, I was just answering the question to the original comment with the official explanation. In the other hand we must remember that all the Aqir races were created by the Old God C'Thun, he created them mutating the creatures that he found in the desert of Silithus and that's the lore explanation why they are Aqir that are spiders, others are beetles, others wasps, mantis, etc, I don't know if Blizzard think about that while making WCIII or came with that explanation while making WoW (this explanation was written in classic) but at least its evident by the FT campaign that they already had a connection with the Old Gods.
