I remember being told about Gamma World in elementary school, it was my first exposure to the concept of TTRPGs. Thanks so much for exploring this classic!
Hello Servant! Thanks for the dose of radioactive nostalgia! You may have covered this already as I haven't watched them all yet, but if not, there is an even older ancestor to Gamma World, Metamorphosis Alpha, that seems like it would be your kind of thing. OK, I'll get back to watching.
Well, pull it out and give it some love. Find an online group and show them what's up! It's still a good game if you have the right people. Happy gaming!
Newly subscribed and thoroughly enjoying learning about RPGs out of my generation. Gamma World looks like a good time. Keep doing what you love Shiloh, you've got a great cadence and enjoyable demeanor about you that I havent found in other channels.
Glad I could be the catalyst to spark some good memories. Don’t let it just be that though. Form a group and do a campaign. Even if its a one-shot. Never know what cou8ld happen as a result. 👨🏿🦲 Happy gaming! 👍🏿
Bit of fact. Gamma World has often been an alpha test bed for the next iteration of D&D. So for example, 4E gamma contained a lot of the early concepts that would flow into D&D 3.0 and 3.5. BTW - you can dump the Classes in 4E, use the skill list from 7E (D&D4 Gamma World) and bob's your uncle.
You’ve piqued my interest. Rekindled it, to be more precise. Last time I played Gamma World was in the late 70s. I really liked it and wish we could have kept our group together and continued playing. Thanks for the video.
Hey, hey! That's what I'm talking about. Time to introduce some folks. Do a one-shot via a VTT and see what happens. Long live the classics! 👨🏾🦲 Happy gaming! 👍🏾
Well … just a tad. 👨🏾🦲 One of my goals for 2022 was to reach 1000 subs on this channel and get 4000 hours of watch time. Didn't think that would happen before January was out. It's been exciting, and I'm looking forward to creating more content of the classics for everyone. I'm scheduled all the way until October and that's just covering three games. I have SO much more to cover. I'm just along for the ride. Let's see where this train goes. 👨🏾🦲 Thanks for the love and support. Happy gaming! 👍🏾
Well, go show it some love and see if you can get a group together to play online. Or in-person if that's possible. Keep fanning the classic RPG flame. Happy gaming! 👨🏾🦲
Haha! Funny that I was thinking about that when came to the riding skill. The reality side of my brain got the best of me since most horses can only support about 250 lbs. and gorillas weigh somewhere in the 340-350 lb. range. That being said, whose to say Bondo rides a “normal” horse? I mean, this IS Gamma World. He could be riding a rhinoceros or elephant … that's mutated. Goodness, I love this game. 👨🏾🦲 Happy gaming! 👍🏾
They don't even try to hide the fact that the art for the Esper looks like a non-anime version of Mewtwo. I guess they really wanted to make a point as to what the archetype of an Esper is.
Actually, that artwork was something I just pulled off the internet from an independent author to represent an esper. There is no artwork in the actual book. Just something to give viewers an idea. 👨🏾🦲 Happy gaming! 👍🏾
I played Gamma World in the 3rd edition for a while. The rules were... unique but cool in concept. I always felt the game was basically D&D with machine guns, and while I have a lot of nostalgia for the game, I'm not sure I could pick it up again.
@@RPGElite Well, if you played 3rd edition you probably experienced the classic modules Alpha, Beta, Gamma, etc. with their gorgeous cover art and beautiful pull out wilderness maps.
And those module at least have a ton in common with TSR design in general at the time, in that they are basically big dungeon crawls or hex crawls often with a lot of no rhyme or reason to the monsters, just show casing every monster available. I'm pretty sure junior high me spent a lot more time roll playing those games than role playing simply because that was what was there in the published examples of play. While I did have the concept that my PCs should have a character, and I remember upsetting a tribe of sentient bats by breaking their sacred plaster idol, mostly I remember kicking down doors, shooting everything with assault rifles (PSH for the win!), and taking every things stuff. It a lot of ways it might as well have been S3: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. And while I don't have experience with later editions of GW, my understanding is that older gamers than me didn't like 3e because it strayed to far from it's D&D roots.
You mean how many videos until the play session for Gamma World? If so, I have it scheduled for April 22nd. That’s subject to change but it will be around that time near the end of April. Happy gaming!
Dice want you to be Grodd lol. I love it.
I know! That is EXACTLY what I was thinking in the video but I didn't verbalize it. 👨🏾🦲
You forgot to put part three in you Gamma World Playlist.

It has similarities with the game I refuse to mention on this channel by name, but it definitely is NOT that game in the least.

I like the skills in the skill system I just feel you don't get enough points to make them actually useful.

23:55 Don't beat yourself up oveer it. Gorillas are crappy swimmers anyway.
4:30 so what is the 4d6 - L for?
Roll 4D6 and subtract the lowest.
