Victory Monday!! Will try to knock out two film rooms this week if I can so feel free to drop some suggestions in the comments of things you would be interested in seeing. P&L.
Can't talk to the routes/schemes, but I very much appreciated Steelers getting Pickens 6 targets before halftime. Fed his appetite + utilizing his talent in the flow of the game... wish he (and Pat) got more love in 2nd half but makes sense to rely on defense. I think you're underselling Fields's value in RZ because man it feels like he is our only consistent answer. Pretty sure Najee was the first non-QB rushing TD & what are passing TDs lol... Steelers HAVE to be better in redzone if they want to compete with top dogs
DB as always. Props to your insight brother. Can we afford to even consider Wilson’s QB processing with OL issues? Aren’t we better suited to use Field’s dual threat potential and escapability? Can assume Wilson’s offense would be more fluid but he doesn’t have Field’s legs to mitigate line issues
Great recap! Can we get a TE/ Muth breakdown? We paid this man and that position group is supposed to be featured. Is muth getting open? Is he being schemed open?
Good stuff as always. Film request would be on McCormick when you think there’s enough to review. He’s grading out well but I’ve seen others talk about his technique lacking heavily. After game 3, I was ready to roll with Justin but at this point, with some regression and a couple of losses to lower tier teams, I think we should see how the team runs with Russ. Equally, it’s hard to disrupt the flow but at least we’d have a look at it… I do not think yesterday was a glowing performance by Justin again, and without the defense getting 3 more turnovers, we easily could have lost to a banged up an hapless Raiders team… maybe it’s just the lack of talent at WR and teams can scheme better against this now after a few weeks of film…?
I thought the officiating was on the Steelers side more than any other game this year. We got away with so much that the Raiders got the short end of the stick. We were fortunate yet we were still the better team out there. The Cowboys game was another one where we we fortunate. Still, get the mistakes cleaned up and protect Russ with everything we got!
As always DB great breakdown . think Justin Fields has regressed a little bit we just need more move the chains passing . don’t wanna give up on him yet but seems to kinda be going in the wrong direction we have been lucky his negative plays haven’t hurt us he was playing well when they had kid gloves on him maybe the pressure of Russ waiting in the wing is hurting him So ya either way pick the starter already Because we really need a move the chains passing like we saw against Colts because I think we saw what Najee can be if we get teams to back off
The pass game still scares me. This is a team that Steelers should’ve dog walked. Glad they won but I don’t think anything can be taken away from this one other than an easy dub. I think this next couple weeks and that Commanders game will tell us what we need to know. Jones man. I’m terrified of this guys development track. Praying that he gets LT next season and having a locked spot helps his path
Db I definitely appreciate Arthurs offense and its trajectory compared to MC offense. There are a few play calls I get bothered with but that’s probably natural for any OC. The stretch plays to Najee I just don’t like. I feel like they’re successful once every 5-6 calls. Curious your thoughts. Thx
Broderick Jones has become an enigma. His mistakes are on the stupid side, and when drafted he was a smart dude. So what happened? The Steelers best have a plan b, because just hoping the guy gets smart again isn't going to cut it, at that level.
I think he needs to be at his natural position which is Left Tackle. But i dont see that happening this season with Fautanu being out for so long. Jones gotta figure it out quick
Counterpoint to your "It's not like you cant go back to Russ" would be "Its not like you cant go back to Fields." I like what Fields potentially could look like as this offense grows but I think Russ gives you a better shot this season. Debatable if "this season" means you do Fields cause we dont think we can win a SB, but Wilson is the better shot imo.

BroJo is due for a deep dive b/c he is breaking my heart
Queen
26 is a guy..the takeaways and run backs yards he gets is amazing right now

Thanks DB for bringing the real analysis! Can't wait for next films room... maybe Broderick Jones? I'm worried if what is going on is fixable!

Great point! Very confusing offense all together. Runs are open. Pass catchers aren’t open. Screams scheme to me
Heck yea always love a Steelers recap after a win
Great breakdown as always.
Straight up, Fields in goal to go situations feels unstoppable
Awesome! 👏🏼
Good stuff as always.

How about breakdown of right side of O-Line including the backup center?

We are about to TAKE OFF! I'm happy with Justin's job at QB, he filled in well but now Russ is going to COOK!

Mondays are always better when it’s a victory monday
DB, you think they’ll try sign DM back at end yr if B Jones don’t get it together?

Is Dan Moore our best OL now? lol
Unlucky man
Not even close, it’s Frazier
So...How many games th Steelers have to lose to see a Russ start?
