High key, felt like infinity war. The big bad of the series finally makes his appearance (vecna), and battles with our heros. Meanwhile, the gang/team is all split up, which leads to their downfall (spread out, easier for vecna to pick apart). Ultimately it ends with our hero’s losing, and “assembling” back in Hawkins for the final battle (season 5/endgame).

These final two episodes were incredibly emotional, deeply satisfying, incredibly well written, and epic in every way. This season as a whole was my favorite since Season One, and I cannot wait to see how the Duffers are going to end this show. I hope, for Season 5, I can use the phrase "the inverse of Game of Thrones Season 8", and every character gets a proper conclusion, it has an epic and satisfying finale, and is one of, if not the best of the show. Also, the noise you made when describing the final battle between Eleven and Vecna was really funny.

    1: 1 for obviously reasons
2: 4 loved the horror element of it, but there was a lot of story lines and the finale left some things out
3: 3 Not terrible, not great, it's good. It baits in to the 80's nostalgia a bit too much
4: 2, not terrible but easily the least reachable

This season cemented the fact that they nailed down the greatest ensemble of child actors ever. All of them are great and have had moments to show off there acting chops during this season. We already knew that Millie was great as Eleven, but this season really elevated Sadie to a point where she is one of the best young actresses out there. I additionally want to point out the fact that all four boys had fantastic scenes during volume two that were incredible. Gaten had the moments during Eddie’s death and then again when he talked to his uncle. Noah had the monologue during episode 8. Finn had his confession of love to El. And Caleb had the scene during Max’s death. I loved all those scenes, and I think each of these actors has a bright future.

    1. *Best. Season. Ever.*
    2. Regarding Sean saying what he said about the pacing and structure of Stranger Things S4 vs the live-action Disney Plus shows, I personally feel like if it works for you, awesome. If it doesn't, awesome.
But, for me, I've never really felt like Stranger Things or The Boys are better, because "it's not dragging like the Disney Plus shows". I don't mind them myself, even with 6 episodes.
    But, that's just me.
You know, I don't mind these shows, as long as I'm entertained by them.
    3. I honestly don't know what is in store for us with the final season of Stranger Things.

As someone who’s loved Volume 1 as a return to form, feel disappointed by the execution of the finale in Volume 2. While some personally didn’t love every plotline and the pacing of each part, everything worked for me but I still understood at least why they existed.
The bullying arc is very realistic and works for me, along with Brenner and Owens alongside Eleven’s origin which works as a solid retcon due to the writing and execution. The arc with Mike Johnathan and Will could’ve worked better if they handled the pacing better after the amazing shootout. The Jason plotline felt dropped a bit in the finale but the emotional core is rooted in realism and still works, especially with the aftermath of Eddie and his Uncle with Dustin.
The biggest thing that disappoints me here is the lack of meaningful stakes. While the usual side characters get killed off, especially Eddie which was handled well, having every legacy character survive takes away any stakes since the final season makes any death feel too safe and expected at that point.
Also giving Eleven the revive card means there really shouldn’t be any meaningful stakes and tension anymore if that power exists at all. Loved the reaction to Max’s death but her revival and coma just reminds me of Arrow Season 6 with Thea in a bad way, which reminds me of Hopper’s survival in S3. Makes the stakes of the finale feel too safe since of course they can get away with killing them off in the presumed last season.

I said that if volume two delivered this would be the best season and after watching it, even though I don’t love the finale as much as other people, I still thought that this is a phenomenal season and the best season of this show. My big issues with the finale were that Max was brought back to life, the way it was done felt like some Rise of Skywalker level stuff. And I’m also disappointed that more people didn’t die. I couldn’t be happier with this season but at the same time I’m not a fan with how “blockbuster” and dragged out this felt. The past 3 seasons were pretty small scale. Admittedly, the stakes and the scale has gotten bigger but the past 3 seasons stayed in Hawkins. I fell in love with the show because of a small town that felt real. Here it starts to feel like blockbuster locations that are over the top and not realistic at some points. I loved this season, but that’s my primary issue with it!

I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I think it ties nicely into this video.
So in the last shot in S4V2 the gates are open NDQ everything is decaying, when we scan this shot 11 picks up dying plant and then we scanned over the others and one person seems off and it Will it appears he has noise bleed or maybe it’s a shadow cast by his upper lip, but it looks like a nose bleed.
That got me think is Will the bad guy?
    Here are my facts:
    - Will always seems to be the dungeon master when the play D&D.
    - The upside down that Vecna gets sent to does not look the same as the upside down that we know Will entered.
    - Vecna never leaves the home he grew up in inside the upside down.
    - Vecna went to the upside down long before Will went there.
Looking at this I think that Vecna went to the upside down, but he explored it. Then Will entered it and somehow changed it. The reason I say this is the upside down is frozen on the day Will entered it, which was after Venda was sent there by 11, so how would Vecna know about Wills fort in woods or Wills house or Macy’s bedroom or any of the other details that were frozen which we know exists in the upside I think that Will entered the upside down and then created it to be everything he last remembered which was the day he was taken, seeing as how dungeon masters basically write the stories or creat the worlds for the campaigns it would make sense that Will created the upside down and can context with it, which ultimately means he is the key to taking it down.
Maybe this is a far out theory but the is a disconnect for me when it comes to the upside down that vecna was put into and what it looked like after Will went in.

About the sword at the climax-
Hopper’s few bullets also worked and penetrated the Demogorgon’s skin because of Murray torching it with the flamethrower. The sword would be just as effective (if not more) as the bullets at that point. The Hive Mind of the Upside Down hates heat and fire so a straight torching would probably weaken it enough for a sword to be super effective

The only deaths were Brenner(who was already dead), Eddie(who is new so it doesnt really change anything) and the new Jock(who is also new). They beat Vecna but didnt kill him, and he is immediatly back, so literally nothing happened. It was mediocre television. If they killed Max at least there was some consequence, but nope, nothing happened.

I agree with your review on ST4. Alot of good things, it was very busy but entertaining. I was a bit annoyed by how long each episode was, but they really told the story well. I found it interesting that Mike and Will, who were so central early on in the series have almost become side characters in season 4. It goes to show how popular characters like Hopper, Dustin, and Robin have become that Mike and Will have been relegated.
On your question on music, I'm in my mid 40s and am very familiar with Metallica and Master of Puppets. I owned a cassette of the album when it came out. However, I was completely unaware of Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush. I'm an 80s kid and never even heard of that song until ST.

I think what would be awesome to improve the fight against Eleven and Vecna in the final episode would be for Max to change to specific memories which would give Eleven an advantage in some way (for example, giving Eleven the high ground) but Vecna finds ways around the advantages. It could then end the same way with Vecna practically killing Max, but I think that this improves the idea to use happy memories to escape Vecna because it was only used once, which Vecna figured out immediately.

My main problem with this whole season in general is its predictability. Right when Volume 1 went out as soon as I saw Eddie and noticed I laughed, I knew he was going to die. The Duffer Brothers are scared of killing old characters, so they make new ones. (Bob, Alexei, and Eddie. All made for shock value when they die) And also about an hour into the episode, Lucas asks Max out on a date. When I heard that I just turned over to my dad and said "One of them is dying." It was shocking at first when Hopper "died" after that scene with them making plans, but when Lucas and Max did it, it was just so obvious one of them was going to die. Shockingly, I know its pretty surprising, the person they end up killing is revived. It's like they're trying their hardest to really push in the new quote "Literally everyone in the cast is safe except for the new guy" For a person like Vecna, he should go around killing people we actually know, not these people we've only met for 30 minutes and are expected to be fully attached to. If you want to set the stakes, set the stakes by killing a character who's grown a fanbase of some sorts and has a general liking. It's the best way to do it to show nobody is safe. Heck, if they instead killed just some side character who some people like, like Officer Callahan it would set the stakes up high.
I loved Hopper with all my heart but oh my god his death was perfect in Stranger Things 3. And you're telling me that last 10 minutes of sobbing was for nothing? he's just alive in a Russian prison? Reviving a dead character literally removes all of the stakes that are set up from him because it would be hilariously bad writing if they killed Hopper or Joyce off. The Duffers need to up their game or sumn.
lmao im talking all this crap and we all know im boutta watch s5 and the countless spinoffs that come after

I really dug this season but my main criticism is in the end it didn’t feel like everyone was necessary. In the other seasons it felt like everyone had an important role but characters like Will, Jonathan and Mike didn’t feel very important. Maybe not Mike but especially Will who felt like he didn’t get much to do at all. Jonathan was basically just the Uber driver for them. Also it may be because I watched the finale really late at night, but I’d pause it and in my head be like “THERE’S STILL AN HOUR!” I can’t really say it’s a criticism though because I’m not so sure I wanted it to end. This was still a very satisfying season.

I was really interested at the beginning of the season. I liked it less and less as it went on though. I felt they did the leadup to the battle pretty well but the battle itself felt pretty lacklustre and then the finale finale was not my cup of tea at all.
I figured it was gonna be a scenario where Hawkins was not just cut off from the rest of the world but also Indiana, and even have communication and traversal cut off from the residents of Hawkins. But the way the ending 20 minutes played out after that 2 day time jump from what felt like the Earth being ripped open was just disappointing.
Glad I watched it and it's definitely better than 2, but I figure I'll just rewatch S1 if I want something really engaging and S3 if I want some fun scenarios (albeit with S3's awful MCU Esque joke-telling, weird Russian base hijinks & Will's D&D character)

    My ranking of the seasons:
    4. Season 2
An okay season with some fine moments, but I wasn’t attached to the individual characters enough to appreciate the split storylines yet
    3. Season 4
When it was good, it was really good, and when it was bad, it was really bad. This season had lots of highs and lows for me. I loved Vecna and the story line with him, basically I liked the main storyline. Until episode 7, the eleven and Russia plot lines bored me. I didn’t love the final 2 episodes because it felt exactly the same as all the other season. Likable new character has a cool arc and dies a hero, everyone splits up to do their part in beating the bad guy of the season, then they all reunite and cry together. The difference here, is that they lost for the first time, but the mood stayed exactly the same. They lost, but it felt like they had won. I didn’t like that. Overall a fine season, but the one that’s starting to make me tired of the stranger things formula
    2. Season 1
Perfect opening season, great horror, great characters, just a great show. I like that in this season the characters were mostly together, it just made it easier to enjoy.
    1. Season 3
At the end of the day, if I wanna rewatch a season I’ll rewatch this one. It’s funny, charming, I fell in love with all the characters, it’s one of the most enjoyable seasons of television I’ve ever seen. Character like Max, Murray, Steve, Robin, Alexei, and others are so much fun. My favorite season most definitely
