Painkiller isnt actually down picked. The current guitarist will down pick it. But Glen Tipton and KK alternate picked it and thats how they also got the pinch harmonics in the riff. However the riff is still good for improving your down picking
Tornado of souls isn't actually downpicked all the way. According to Kiko Loureiro. Which he even says there's no way he could play that wrong in front of Dave for all those years

Actually, it is easier to play pinch harmonics when downpicking.
