I was working as a CNA for a few years prior to starting nursing school. I also went and got my EMT so that I could be a critical care technician in the hospital. I worked all throughout nursing school and had to maintain two 12 hour shifts a week. It was challenging but doable! I then started working full time as an RN in the ICU while I finish my bachelors degree online! Keep up the good work! You got this!! ❤️

I loved being a CNA it made me such a better RN. I actually got my CNA license and worked a year before I started nursing school.
that's exactly what I will do, go to school for CNA, work a year and take nurse school at a university, at least im not the only one I really wish I started this journey sooner but that's okay the older the wiser, right?

I’m a CNA too and am about to begin a new job on an LTAC unit after being in a nursing home for a few years. I’m excited for the change and to learn new skills I’ll be able to apply when I’m in nursing school :) I’m glad I found your channel! I’m sure you’re going to gain subscribers quickly!

I was thinking the same, I am interested in the medical field as well and was thinking about doctor, pa or nurse. I was thinking about getting either EMT or CNA certification to gain experience and see if medicine really is the path I want to pursue.

Do you have to clean 💩?
Depends where you work… I worked as nursing assistant in the maternity unit. So no poop for me but help mothers to the bathroom. And sometimes blood will drip down there legs.. so had to help clean that.

Loved the vlog! Currently thinking of switching from teaching to nursing again. Dropped out my freshman year bc I didn't think I was smart enough. Planning to get my CNA certification this fall to get some experience before nursing school. Have been feeling nervous and excited at the same time, but watching this got me excited again :)
I highly recommend working as a CNA before going to nursing school because it gives you a taste of what nursing looks like! Although being a CNA is more physical work and being an RN is more brain work, you are exposed to a lot and get to absorb things as a CNA that will help you as an RN. Can’t say I’m a smart person, but if you can put the work into learning, that is the key!
Do it Chanida! I was always going back and forth between teaching and nursing. I got my CNA but then was offered a job as a teacher. I finished my first year of teaching and decided that nursing is what I really want. So I'm looking for a CNA job and taking pre-reqs in hopes that I can get into our local BSN program. I just got picked up for a CNA training program paid for by our local hospital. This is also my last term of pre reqs before I apply to nursing school so I hope that I can keep working while going to school. I don't need to financially, I just want to have the experience.

📿📿🌙🌸💕🦋 Working at the hospital 🏥 is what you give, how well mannered are you, how well educated are you and how you 🗣 speak and what you say.. Now I was a (PCA)-(Infant- certified child care development caregiver) and having education vs. lowclass can be very degrading the lack of knowledge and respect. I met ( CNA’s ) who are very vulgar and others who are very well educated! 📿🌙🌙🌸💕🦋your a perfect example of high-quality!! I’ve notice people who I work with but don’t and will not associate with, have like an infestation Ora a strange vibe that brings your self-esteem low everything that comes out of their mouth 👄 is degrading from their tone. I hardly speak like this but I’m 32 years old I worked everywhere and what you feed of is what you become! A great advice never surround yourself with (rats) it is a deteriorating word but it’s the truth! Never speak, be around them!!! Get away from infestation of humans who rot the soul! 📿🌸💕🌙🦋
I didnt come for the vlog, i literally came to tell you "girl, the color of your scrubs are SO CUTE!" I really wish there was more color selection for mens scrubs. I will start as Nurse Aide so I can get the feel and idea of the work environment prior to classes, I went to school for Culinary Arts thought that's what I wanted to do for the rest of my life turns out I wanted to become an outpatient nurse or nurse anesthetist, finger cross to CRNA but thanks so much for taken us to your journey of ICU CNA you are making people realize how its like to be an Nurse AIde.

Is it hard to become a CNA? I’ll be finally graduating with my bachelors in Health Science- Pre OT. But idk if I want to pursue that, I was so inspired by the nurses and staff who took care of me when I was in the ICU after having open heart surgery!
I'm 17 and got my license in the summer, I took a CNA course which was only 2 months, and took the state exam and passed. You then get your license and start working when u want.

Hi everyone. If I’m a health care assistant in the UK (called nurses aid in USA) where can I go online to find jobs in USA ? It would be under the EB-3 Unskilled visa. I don’t know of any agency’s or websites that fund foreign nurses aids.

I wanna apply to a position in the ICU so badly but I’m so scared I might not move fast enough and I’ll get yelled at OMG hopefully this is somewhat similar to what I’ll be seeing. 🥺💕

I was very slow and felt so overwhelmed when I first started! But my team was very gracious and understanding. After a few weeks you figure out the flow better. I understand the intimidation but it is so worth it! :) as long as you are willing to learn and put in the effort, most units are very gracious. Even with CNAs with poor work ethic, I’ve never seen one get yelled out or pushed out.
How can I become a cna for pediatrics ? Do I have to work in a nursing home first or is the certification the same ?
It usually depends on each institution's policies and requirements! You typically do not have to work at a nursing home as a CNA prior to transferring to a hospital unit. You can start out in a hospital. I do know that some hospitals require you to be a CNA for several months to a year before moving to a pediatrics unit. That is the case at my hospital at least.
Did the nursing assistant take care of old people and also kids and mybe it's hard I Hope u answer me !??
Is the ICU a bit less of patient interaction? Since they are more critical do the nurses do most of the care?
In my opinion there is actually more patient interaction, but at the same time yes the nurses do a lot of the care. I do all the same things a message/surg CNA would do (minus vitals) however my schedule really becomes subject to what the nurses delegate. For example, I spend more of my time transporting to CT scans, helping ambulated cardiac patients, getting admissions and sometimes traumas “tucked in” etc. hope that makes sense!
i was a patient at in the ICU for 2 weeks and just got home and the CNA’s basically cleaned my bed and wiped my butt when i shit myself (don’t ask, i had 3 heart attacks and a pulmonary elbolism and died and could barely move that first week they brought me back to life)
Wow do those goggles have prescription lens? If so I would ok definitely like a pair!
I know that if you order from Stoggles they should give you the option to add prescription lenses!
Question!!! How many patients do you typically get each shift for a cna in the icu?
In my case it was a small unit, so all 9 beds. Typically in ICU it is 5-10 beds. And that is because we honestly are not doing quite as much as med/surg CNAs because we do not have to get Q4 vitals and typically we are not walking the patients as much.
@@NurseMaddyW Do med/surg CNAs usually have less patients than ICU CNAs? I'm a CNA and I worked a med/surg floor and on average we had 13 patients each

Was watching and The sharps containers are supposed to be handled by the environmental services aides not a CNA thing at my hospital anyways / trash linen and red bio bags are also EVS cleaning rooms and nurses station is also evs So im wondering why they have it on your to do list ?
Pretty sure EVS staffing has been low since I started working there. Plus I’ve had to float to other units and the CNAs change then as well. We have a drop off where EVS picks them up, though. We just change the canisters.

I mean the patients can and depending on where you work, I know some people who worked with COVID patients had a break room with showers

Starting pay is about $12/hr here.

@@drivethrutours1916 our minimum wage is lower in my state so it’s actually a higher wage. But I do think that it should be higher in my opinion. I make more than that since I e been a CNA for a while.

@@drivethrutours1916 I find that many places that pay low you gain a lot of experience where you wouldn’t otherwise. For example, I worked as an assistant manager at a store at the age of 18. I had really low pay but being an assistant manager short term was great for my resume. Same with being a CNA. It’s not easy to get a CNA or RN job in the ICU right off the bat. But after I gain the experience, I can go elsewhere if I want, get paid more, and bypass climbing a longer ladder somewhere where it is harder to climb the ladder. Hopefully that makes sense.

I know the CNAs on pediatrics will change diapers. I will change briefs on an adult patient if necessary.
