Thank you Chris. I was annoyed by screen reviews that say "It's better," or "it's worse." so I now review screens with the information I want to know: Where does the screen put the Airflow. - Frank
You thought the wind to the neck was rough...you were one loose bolt from a possible windscreen to the neck lol Thats a beautiful bike. I have to take a moment and spot check bolts on my bike fairly regularly. I was able to retire from the board of education by buying stock in Blue Loctite due to my own excessive use of it. I found out like Grump that all the shoulder wind I was catching was due to my factory mirrors.
Hello Dave, why did you not tell the rest of us to invest in loctite! 😆 I do use your investment when I have completed testing. All of the bolts on my preset Givi are blue, with the exception of where the frame connects to the bike, that's RED. I read that the 790 mirrors can cause buffeting as well, however, it turns out that is only for the "adventure" shaped mirrors on the 790. When I removed my circular ones that come on the R, there was no change. I still believe it's the fairings. The 2023 version of the 790 and 890 have a new fairing to address this. It closes up a large area left open on the 2019 - 2022 models. If I could sell my 790 R for what I see them listed, I may be tempted to buy an 890 S with the new fairings. - Frank
How often do you think that it would be needed to tighten the bolts? I had a single cylinder bike and it was a pain in the as. I had to tighten the bolts quite often. :) Your 790 looks wonderful. I appreciate your thoughts about that shield. Got my full watch Frank. Take care. :)
If 55 to 75 MPH protection is a problem the answer is clear. Go faster. Or I guess you could use the larger windshield and eliminate the peak. I face some of these issues on my GSXS. Thanks for the video.
STUART! I see many folks on Facebook talk about how much the 390 vibrates, but honestly, it's not much worse than the 790. And when you add in the better wind control of the 390... it may be more comfortable to ride. - Frank
@@sdefiel3719 Hello Stuart, I was riding my 390 Saturday. The Orange handguards looked great, I had moved to black on the 790 and forgot how good a KTM looks with some Orange highlights. - Frank
Hello Dan, I hope you can make time for a trip in 2024! Weather is one of those things that you get used to. I am not saying you enjoy pushing through it, but you do get used to it. I do often wear a heated vest! - Frank
Hello Matt, it seems to be a very popular one. It's a no go for me though. I do not often record helmet audio, however, testing with no screen has too much wind noise coming up from my chest under the chin of my helmet. - Frank
Nice job demonstrating the wind protection!

FRANK !!!! - Another great review !!! This will help a lot of people !!! Cheers !!!
Obi-Wan!
Hello Obi-Wan, I hope we still see some fun riding now that your weather is more tolerable! - Frank
I'm 5ft 7 and have the S screen (the one with the hole in it) and it's CRAZY loud!!!! If I stand up the noise dies down, it's totally nuts!!

Hello Gregor, I do regular checks, it seems OK with loctite on there. The 790 vibrates quite a lot for a twin! - Frank
@@OneOldManRiding Aha, OK. You should just check it from time to time.

ROB !!!!
Hello Rob, I sound advice, go above the speed causing buffeting! - Frank
My _peak vibrates_ when I ride my KTM too ...
heh-heh-heh.
Thx Frank, another excellent shield review.

... and when you paint it orange ...!

Uhhh ... when I wrote "peak" I didn't mean a part of my helmet.

If you visit down here again, I'll be a different kind of pain in the neck for ya!
Hello Scott, I am in your neighborhood (OK a few miles away) in January. Unless the wife and her mother are fighting 🤣 - Frank
a clip on deflector will take care of that wind, it will go right over you.

No more visor is a good option.
