I don't want confrontations with nobody for sure😅!! Just because I give my honest opinion here, about fragrances 😂 I stand on my ground. I like flankers, I like designers, I like niche, I like clones, etc. It's only my personal taste from a consumer 🙂. Thank you. This was a very interesting video, Joel. ❤
No matter how much we say it's art, this is a business. If it didn't work for their bottom line they wouldn't be putting out flankers. It's easy to avoid by focusing on the houses that don't use this as a business model. Look to Francesca Bianchi, Nicolai, Masque Milano, Meo Fuschini, Zoologist (though did they just put out a flanker with Beaver Maple?) et al. You'll find a lot of creativity without creating flankers. That said, there are flankers I enjoy such as Bleu de Chanel Parfum and Habit Rouge Parfum. So, I don't believe it's a real matter of concern. The market will address it.
I both agree and disagree. I can see where you're coming from Joel, I do feel like there's a lack of creativity in the designer world in general. However, some lines have been getting oddly better with every flanker. Case in point: Phantom. Originally horrible, every iteration is better than the previous one. However, with Ralph Lauren, it's the opposite. It's stagnant and boring since the late 90s. How about Cartier's Pasha Noir Absolu, which is very divisive for a reason, it's a very uncommon DNA for the designer world but less so for niche. Either way, it's a fascinating subject! And yes, most of all, no hate let's all respect each other. :)

It seems like if a fragrance has one flanker, I like them both…. If they have at least four, I usually don’t like any of them or the original.

The original is the way to go designer or niche. Social media ruins the hobby of fragrance for the most part these days.
