What game?! They're unknowns in any and every game you might have in your mind. Both academically, and on YT, literally nobody gives a F about what these 2 say, apart from Christians, like the comment right above, who want to feel a bit better about how corrupted and non-sensical their whole belief system is so they look for unknowns like these two to give them some good feefees by making sh up about islam to make it look as corrupted as their religion, so they can say: oh look islam is just like our religion, so I guess we'll keep our religion. Do you people realize the level of people LEAVING your non-sensical religion. You guys are in the negative, in the red, everyone is leaving christianity. Why?! Because it has been corrupted, and people have an innate sense of it. ps: I'm agnostic by the way, and I have an allergy to delusional people.
I've greatly enjoyed seeing Skepsislamica take off, super glad to see Mr. Poole here. This was a great interview and I'm rooting for a return appearance soon!
It's my first time seeing Terron. Oh my, what an intellect. I found myself nodding along in agreement the whole way through. His journey parallels my own experience, only I was born in the deen. I have spanned the gamut from dogmatism to alienation to something approaching understanding and philosophical detachment, if that is not too vague. This brother has a lot to offer the community. Wonderful to see the maturity of our new theologians. I could say more. I had better not. I will just say we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Gabriel for hosting intelligent conversations like this. Gentlemen, I doff my hat to you.
I don't know about other Muslims, particularly those raised as such in a traditional background, but I don't really place much importance on the scholarship of Western academics onto my own spiritual/religious development honestly. It's like, interesting, but it never really informs my belief system.
Great Build. Enjoyed you interviewing the Interviewer. Being apart of the 5% Nation here in America. I love Muslims that are open to other ideas. He hit some great stuff.
Big fan of Gabriel's and Terron/Roxanna's channels. At the 55 min mark it does matter if there is more than one author of the Quran to the Muslims that I know. Allegory doesn't cut it for me. Jews have problems if they hold on to the idea that Moses wrote the 5 books of the Pentateuch and Christians have problems with who wrote the Gospels. Maybe it's more to do with identity that people hold on to their religion as certain aspects can be problematic.
Thank you Professor Reynolds for your incredible generosity in sharing your vast knowledge and insights, whether through interviews with esteemed academics or engaging in discussions with learned individuals. It is truly inspiring.
The problem with seeing the stories in the Quran as allegories is that the Quran does not present them as allegories e.g. in the story of the Companions of the Cave it describes debates about how many of them there were, and tells the readers not to listen to the competing views since only a few have knowledge of them; this is not about fictional characters, but about figures assumed to be real.
Love this episode! I'm a big fan of you both. I'm a brit-pakistani that grew up with a combo of desi cultural islam, and arab madrassah salafism. While I don't necessarily believe in Islam anymore (though I'd say I'm a monotheist), I'm still fascinated by the academic approach to islam and it's relationship with islam as it is practiced. Skepsislamica is a channel I wish was around when I was younger instead of having to learn it all the hard way aha. As someone that used to be at the dawah tables, I'd love to hear more about Terron's perspective on UK Islam/muslims, and ways to move forward.
As someone who has been studying Islam for 12 years now, I could never believe the Standard Islam Narrative and decide to become a Muslim. The quran has way too many problems to be anything more than a book written by men.
@@jma7600 How is a religious belief that doesn’t have its tradition in place until well into the Abbasid dynasty “simple”? It seems that opens up a web of possibilities and conjectures about the origins of Islam?
Really admire Terron and Roxanna's work on Skepsislamica. So great to see this chat between two favs in the game.

Islam is very simple, follow the Quran & the sunnah of the prophet.....😅😅
What date was the Sunnah collected in the form we have it today?
Almost 209- 300 years after the death of the prophet of Islam
