I was never flexible all my life. My family always laughed at me for that from a young age. When I was 7, I started doing Judo and was also shamed by my teachers for how unflexible I am. After turning 20, I started stretching for my own comfort and allowed myself to experiment with what worked for my body. I went from never being able to touch my toes to touching them comfortably. The mental block you get is more serious than people realize.
thanks so much for sharing your story! Keep on pushing! All the best with stretching 💗💗💗
How did u become flexible
How did you not injured yourself while stretching
@mirrorreflex I didn't stretch beyond my obvious pain limit. Think from 1 to 10. Your maximum discomfort should reach 9, never 10. You will know when your pain threshold will tip over into potentially injuring you. I always let myself feel into the stretches, test how much I can tolerate, breathe calmly while stretching and then see if I can move closer the next time. Gave my hamstrings a break whenever they needed it - it's not a race against anything. Do as you feel most comfortable :)
I am 20 wanna be flexible@@dreamsatnight
Literally working on flexibility just to be good at pole dance
LOL, I'm doing this because I need it for my kickboxing
amazing! That is how I got into stretching as well. I did it for poledancing :)

Just general good advice but I started to just straight up drink 26 ounces of water every day before anything else. I hate it, I dislike drinking room temperature water and I don't feel thirsty a lot but it's a necessary evil. You'll see changes within 3-4 days (it fixed my dry eyes personally).
ohh wow! I would use a fix for my dry eyes. Thanks for sharing!
I find this information valuable along with the video and the presentation of it was easy to listen to. I have also been on a journey, one of disability which is also valuable and helps me understand why I can't do certain things. What I found there is a relationship between the brain and body when it comes to stretching, movement and other factors that is just life. When these are working and operating, functioning together in agreement, then it becomes easier to stretch, move, and live life. However when there is disablement and different systems are also affected, it puts it at times in the impossible journey section, which requires miracles and learning, very least being informed and accepting. It is at times really slow and can then also be very quick. What I am considering is the other way of stretching which you touch upon, which is deep, and that is where I fall into, along with other things, such as vestibular system at present, that has problems, which can make it impossible to stretch or at times touch your toes, or can do things to your muscles, such as hypertonicity which is really quite painful, and feels like a rock. Thankyou for helping inform people, because the very least it helps to know and not waste time following that which can lead and does into injury.
Thanks for sharing your experience! It was a great read for me. Wishing you all the best with stretching 🌸 Big hugs
Your humour is top! :)
😂😂😂😂
i got my splits a month ago, yet they still hurt when i go into them? is it natural that they hurt after doing my stretches and warming up to, not just trying to go into them cold? how do i fix this? or do i just need to continue doing my stretches till the pain eventually goes away? its not a sharp pain btw just that uncomfortable one
Hey, yes it is normal it hurts. If I don’t do mine for a few weeks they hurt too 🥹 So super normal. One day when you have super solid oversplits your regular split will maybe stop hurting :)
I was never able to touch my feet with my legs stretched. I am 6ft and I used to be like a whole palm away from touching my toes, but I am stretching and it’s getting better, but I am not sure if I will ever be able to touch my whole hand on the ground. Do you think it might not be possible?
Unless u have very short upper limbs, most probably with time and patience u will be able to.
Pole dancer here! ❤
yeahh!! :)
I stretched 4 years ago for split i improved in front but i didnt get it but middle i feel bone to bone how i know that my anatomy doesnt allow me ?
Try externally rotating your thighs or anterior pelvic tilt 😊
Hey, thank you for this. Do you have any knee mobility videos. I find squatting/lunges etc very painful for one of my knees. I'd love a knee mobility follow-along to work to.
Hi :) I would really recommend seeing a physio to figure out why this is happening. Sounds very much like something that can be strengthened over time and the pain can then be stopped but very hard for me to help over a comment. Hope this is of some help. Have a beautiful day
You are the best Te amo💞💞💝
Thank you! Heaps of love back to you too!!!!!
I am suffering from my backbone pain while doing backbending. Will you please help me for that.😥😥
I would really recommend seeing a specialist. There can be many reasons and causes to your pain and it can easily develop into more pain with stretching so please see someone about it. :)
Nice that you did some pole dancing! I stretch for pole dancing myself 😊
Ohhh yeah for pole dancing! I have actually competed in it several times both in IPSF and local unregulated competitions so did quite a lot of if. What is the dream move you are working towards?
Do you lift at all
I do but mainly dumbbells, I don’t do too much barbell lifts anymore. What do you do for training?
So, can i spilts even if my old now 21 is right !?
Yes u can become flexible at any age
yes!! You are young!!
I use to have my splits in my teens both ways and also a needle I’m in my 30 do u think I am to get it back?
definitely! It just depends on how much you want them back and how much work you want to put in. But yea 100%
How do you know if you have deep or shallow hips??
I have hyper mobility ??? and I had no ideia this was a thing, I thought I was just a little bent
We learn our whole life I guess :) Thanks for sharing
What about kids
kids are a whole topic for another video but usually is very much depends on age, how young they are, how committed and what other activities they do. :)
I stretched during 4 years didnt much feel im flexible ...im a bit overweight and 47 years old ..is it because my weight ? 97kg fir 169cm
The weight might be an issue, if you have a bigger belly it might seem that you have poor flexibility in hamstrings for example even though u don’t. Mostly than not, the weight doesn’t impact your ability to be flexible, so no, I wouldn’t worry about it. Keep at it!
👏🏾👏🏾
How do I know if my sockets are deep? What does that look like?
You will feel it when you get to a certain depth in your middle splits. A professional would be able to see it on your x-ray as well but it’s not like people should be doing scans to figure this out. :) Don’t worry about this too much. If you are just starting to stretch focus on being consistent and staying injury free.
Does sex play a part in this? I’m having trouble seeing progress in my hips as a male
It could, it is more the anatomy and what other activities you do that will determine how fast you get to your goal. I have had many male clients that have gotten their splits it is just usually that they lift weights and/or do other strength based activities that tighten their muscles. What other activities/sports do you do? How often do you stretch and how long have you been working on your splits?
@@stretchandtrain I stretch my hips twice a week. I probably need more volume.
