- Richard Maynes is back with his sniper know-how and experience to react today to the madness that is Squad. Watching some gameplay, Richard takes us through and identifies key aspects of the game or gameplay he appreciates for its accuracies or potentially finds hard to believe. From curving bullets to utilizing concealment Richard knows what he’s talking about and by the looks of things he absolutely loved the game Squad, what did you think?
Through teamwork, constant communication, and gameplay, Squad is a tactical first-person shooter that provides an authentic fighting experience. Through 100 player battles, combined arms combat, base building, and a great integrated VoIP system, it bridges the gap between arcade shooters and military simulations.

If Gamology wants that to be a thing, they better hook him up with Karma, Drew & co, otherwise it's gonna be pretty random not necerssarly welcome (also difficult)

@@Fergus_0703 Nah, Squad is pretty realistic and real tactics do work in-game - but it's still a video game, and one with a very steep learning curve. Unless he had an experienced player coaching him through everything he'd just be fighting the mechanics the whole time. Just like the survival expert, she knows what she'd do IRL but can't figure out how to make it happen in game

Would probably be better if he was instead coaching a sniper player on what to do rather than him playing the game himself. He would probably struggle with just how to move. Or maybe just put him into the training firing ranges with no actual enemies

Probably training days with his best friends tbh, real combat is quite rare even in war.
I love how this guys critics are just but fair, still taking into account the fact that it's a game. I also love his enthusiasm when the game or the player does something right.

Brings back memories
Wow I've been playing games like this for a long time, and him pointing out that the arc of a round when shooting from up high hits higher than normal... just blew my mind.
This guy is one of the more likeable experts.

It’s cool watching him dissect this but we’ve gotta see him play. I want to see that professional communication
third time asking for this, put him in training/firing range mode of multiple games to test out the physics and different weapons etc
Love watching this guy and his knowledge and commentary. He's fun to watch and one of my faves.
I always try and tell my friends, what makes you good at a mil sim isn’t your kills, it’s how well you do your job, and how well you coordinate and relay info. If your job was to provide recon and relay info on enemy positions, then obviously you won’t have as many kills as a rifleman, but if you do your job right, you will help the team a lot more then if you were fighting next to them.
Got 500+ hours put into Squad. This is as real as it gets. You absolutely need good communication and a skilled commander to be effective. Think Arma 3 with a logistics system.

Alright, Aloha everyone sorry it's been a while since I left a comment, please believe I have still been sharing and supporting still non-stop.
I love watching when he is on an episode. To me, he is the perfect expert on all these videos. Why? ......well im glad you asked 😆:
* He DOES NOT dismiss the fact that it is a game.....considering the audience is majority gamers.....we are already aware of that.
* He ALWAYS provides information on how whatever is going on in the game is being COMPARED to what could/have happened in real life.
*.....Again he does this WITHOUT dissing or taking shots at the game itself.
* He shares his real-life experience and PROFESSIONAL OPINION so well that I can easily see the "picture" in my head.
* This is done so well that most of the time it feels like I am listening to the best storyteller of all time and eager to hear the story so much........to the point I don't want to leave/pause the video......because I feel im going to miss out on something. (Of course, I am aware of the fact that I can always pause the video at any moment........STILL, it doesn't even become a thought that I should pause it...I am so focused on what he is saying through what im seeing that nothing else matter.
Alright, short version 😆:
* PLEASE KEEP HIM in rotation PERMANENTLY
* He is EASILY top 3 experts to me.

I would love a tactics distillation series from Richard or another veteran where they try to break down military tactics that could be usable for FPS gamers/teams, especially things like team movement, positioning, and other rules for engagement/cover! Love the content you guys, keep it up!!

I was taught a rule of thumb that's worked for me, every hundred meters of elevation difference between you and your target affects your zeroing by the same amount. For example, you are on a hill, the target is on a hill 500 meters away and is 100 meters lower than you. You would zero for 400 meters. Now i haven't checked that against actual range/elevation charts so anyone who knows the real rule can feel free to enlighten me, but this has worked in Arma for years (my longest kill is 2.3km from a hill to a tower in King of the Hill, followed by a 1.9km on a moving target in DayZ Epoch back in the Arma 2 days. Im sure people do better regularly, but I'm proud of those shots).

That shoot and move thing is probably one of the best tips to stay alive as a squad sniper. Especially with the Timberwolf. I don't think he can hear it but the Timberwolf is the loudest infantry gun in the game.

This game is the best, especially you have a good SL that’s creative and can make good calls, and if everyone is communicating, You can wipe out a whole area with ease.
