Making A Roguelike Game In JUST 100 Days! (Devlog 1)

- I'm starting a new game project called Project Myth, and the goal is to get a version of it on Steam within 100 days! In this video, I cover the first 25 days of game development. Project Myth is an action platformer roguelite that I'm making in Unity.

The Archer's Bow is Wrong!
There is a myth in my country called Boitata, which is a huge fire snake. It would be cool to see it as a boss fight lol

Brazillian folklore qould be really interesting in a game ive never persoanlly seen it, its p unique too
I suggest MythRaker for the name. It's a play on muckrakers, journalists who exposed corruption during the progressive era. It has a kinda over the top and chaotic ring to it and it fits the narrative of the game pretty well.
what would be cool is that when the enemies do the ragdoll where they launch in the air you could pogo them, potentially leading to interesting combos

This game is already looking juicy after only 25 days, good work. Also btw you drew the bows wrong for the centaur, the wood part is meant to be curved and the string is meant to be straight, not really a big deal but thought i would let you know

I feel like the arch of the centaur's arrows need some kind of like that shoes where the arrows is going, as it'd be a handy warning when the centaur is off screen or above you.
You should make fighting one god give you the blessing of a god that is opposed to the one you are in conflict with. That way you have a natural and lore friendly way to explain the status effects.

Great work! Perhaps you can implement grab attacks for the enemies, for example the Nobusuma like shown in the picture of it.
For the outline, Try the All in 1 sprite shader. Super easy to use and has a bunch of effects

great video am exited to play the game then it's done.
You could add sofr collisions between enemies, its when you gradually move enemies from one another, this is good because then melee and non melee enemies still interract and also the collision doesnt look repetative. Plus it also looks more natural as enemies push each other to get to you and arent just stopped by an infinite force

The plot of your game is insanely cool. From the plot alone it’s a game worth buying.
Also it’s sad that is your fate in the story is destined to die. It would be so cool if you angered all of heaven and killed all of the gods from mythology and otherwise.

Hello your game looks so cool so far, but the centuar's bow is shaped wrong, the wooden part is supposed to be curved and the string is supposed to be straight. But you really don't have to change it if you don't want to.
You can use the wild hunt from slavic folklore if you want, or anything from this culture if don't like the idea

Don't be demotivated, the reason that I'm faster just is because I've been doing it for longer, when I started, I was much slower, its all about keeping with it! Good luck with your first game

Why is the centaurs bow backwards? The wood part should be curved, and the string being straight, and then it stretching back as he pulls back ready to fire

likely will just have a demo out on steam, but I also want to make that demo have the entire gameplay loop for the final game, and then I will just add more content and polish to the final release

I know this may seem like an odd request, but I'm a game developer who's making a top-down roguelike, but I'm stuck on just on a roll animation, whenever I try animating it on my own it ends up really ugly. At the moment I have all of the necessary animations for my game. Can you make a roll animation for me? if yes just reply to my comment if you're interested. Thanks for reading. You really don't have to, but I thought this would be a good place to ask.

Hello dear Lewis! I beg you to add at least one element from Turkic mythology (not TURKISH, those are different things although end up at a similar door) because, at least to my knowledge, there is only one game that does anything with the Turkic mythology, and it is called Uruz.
My suggested characters that suit the game’s flow are mainly Kayra-Han, a part of the Turkic god Kök-Tengri, Umaysu-Ana, goddess of fertility and Su-Ana, the goddess of any water.

Try using asset pack instead of dl an asset here another here etc... You'll have a more coherent looking game.
I’m making all the art myself, no asset packs or assets, I just downloaded some tools and things like the platformer movement.

Yeah it’s kinda clickbait, I want to have a steam demo by day 100 and have 90% of the mechanics done, and then I’ll see how much more work needs to be done before I can make it a commercial game

Hey speaking of it, you could kinda add a joke about it in the game, since you have centaurs who are half-horse.... and Loki got preganant of a horse.... Nothing to crazy, just something about Centaurs finding Loki pretty/attractive or something, it could be funny.
