- Movie worlds in VRChat are getting removed. Is it because of illegal activity? Will they come back? Will someone else take over the movie watching world market in vrchat?

I was actually super bummed out when i found these worlds gone. And it was right around the time a few other friends were joining and i was about to introduce them to those worlds
I've told so many people about these amazing worlds it was the best time ever. I hate that they got taken down so much they were so amazing damn it

I deleted vrchat and told them to fuck off for letting them get taken down, i get it wasnt legal but with all the money we all spend on tax, life etc... we are entitled to these bloody movies smh.
I agree with what your saying but if one company can make this happen that means only their meida can be viewed. The beauty of LsMdedia and Vr and chill was it was everything. I get pirated content isnt allowed it just sucks to have to sign up to another streaming network

I think the BEST way to go about it is make a World that is only accessible via codes (for a Discord server for movie buffs).
That way, it can't get overly noticed/popular. They could probably also use some VPN service.

I hope they do that because it would make it thousands of times a lot easier for a private investigator to find out who is pirating movies which is illegal in most countries and send their ISPs a DMCA complaint. (Yes this actually happens if you get caught)

@WJINTL no private investigator cares about people pirating content, they only care about the people who are distributing copyrighted content without permission. If there is a private discord which has a vrchat world with movies on it they wouldn't care at all because the specific vrchat world isn't the place where the content is being distributed online just played.

I knew it would only be a matter of time because big mecadi and tv compays have been going after ip tv services, and they really wore on the line of being one
So bigscreen has an agreement with one of the hollywood movie production studios that lets you rent a ticket and watch whatever theyre showing at a particular time with other people in a virtual theater or any other kind of room. or you can just share your desktop screen with others

It sucks VRC waas forced to take it down, but it was bound to happen eventually. I'm surprised it lasted for as long as they did. Movie watching isn't over yet, as you can paste video links into any video player and watch it from there now.

well, i don't think those platforms would be plausible because all the people there should have a subscription... i mean.. it is true that if you invite people at your house and all watch netflix they don'0t have to pay, but in VR...
I think the way to go would be if you can stream your own stuff from your pc to vrchat... or streaming from your browser to vrchat.
I still don't know how to use those players in vrchat.
It is possible to put stream links into these video players. So you could stream your screen to youtube for example and then play that stream link in vrchat in order to stream your screen

You literally lost nothing. You can go to the websites that these VRChat worlds streamed the movies from and paste in the URLs yourself.

If any streaming service were to make a movie world, I'd want it to be Amazon Prime Video. They have pretty much every movie and I wouldn't mind renting a movie to watch in vrchat
Yes they are now gone forever, Since VRC is now making money/% from content creators this opens them up to being sued if a user uploads copywrite material.
Would be the same as someone uploading a full length movie onto youtube and then ads were played, TH-cam would be in trouble since they made profit off the copywrite material.
The same will happen with avatars, the only way you will be able to buy and sell them will be via the Creator Companion App (and inside VRC). Users who uploaded copywrite material will be able to be moderated easier by VRC and banned etc.
Once VRC goes full mainstream Im assuming most will find the other VR Social games and populate them instead.
I think you bring up a lot of interesting points that I didn't really think about. VRChat probably has a lot more responsibility now.

There were making money off illegal pirated movie copies, not sure how they weren't taken down before, guess movies company just didn't know vrchat existed. The worlds basically just Yonk movie URL from site like 123movies, or freemovies or they had their own personally database URLs. But selling advertisement to people and company had to be making bank and probably lead to the world getting taken down as well. Good idea Hella illegal in the long run, going to miss the movie worlds Tho, until u Yonk the script and upload your own private world.

Knew this would happen eventually... the game was getting more popular, and this was inevitable if they wanted to expand to Android (aka new means for passive income).
Unfortunate and disheartening.
Surely these creators had it coming.
Piracy is only a federal offense if you sell the pirated media, with the implemented currency system, it would have only been a matter of time before someone created a movie world which you had to pay to enter, or rent-to-watch... which would have definitely been illegal.
i don't think people would pay for something that was free for years

When movie worlds came out years ago, i knew it's illegal. But nobody is reporting it so the ball is still rolling and both popular worlds are visited daily a lot (1000+ ppl in weekend even) so yeah this shutdown was expected. No need to complain, everyone should already know it's illegal. That is because literally all movies are already licensed by movie companies.
Maybe in future special movie worlds will made, since VRChat has virtual money system added. This will open doors for legal paid movie worlds. Then it works like real cinema, pay to watch movie. But most people don't want spend money every time and question is also how it works in VRChat because it's shared to everyone if using same player.
And another reason if VRChat want work with some big companies, they don't want see illegal parts in VRChat. This is also reason at business level to keep the support. For example HTC is already known as big supporter of VRChat. Thanks to VRChat, a lot Vive trackers are sold.

Honestly I’m thankful that I have this little movie & chill world link that I have where I’m still able to access the world reuploaded but I’m honestly just now waiting for the world to get nuked but the thing is I can’t even favorite the world for some reason? Like I’m only able to access it via the link I have and invite myself to it & friends. Rip public movie worlds though 🪦
