    I would use gear oil and not T fluid. Gear oil protects better, more cushion and less metal shavings coming out with the oil. Almost 260K on original Tcase with gear oil changes every 30K and no issues.

      I stick with whatever manufacturer recommend and so far so good :-)

      @@NewRoad IMHO Gear oil is for gears. If you are sticking with Trans fluid, I would advise changing it more often. My buddy stuck with trans fluid and at 80K his TC exploded:)

    sorry l couldn't watch the specific level to fill it could you add it please thanks for your vid!!

    • @NewRoad
      @NewRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You fill until it star dipping from fill hole, unless your H3 is 2006 - then you need to add extra... there are comments below specifying how

    I saw below that there was a comment about the fluid. I don't know if its just me but when I was reading the owners manual it says that the Automatic Transmission in my 07 takes the DEXRON-VI stuff but the transfer case takes "Manual Transmission Fluid". Is that true? Or do both units (transmission and transfer case) take the same fluids?? Just asking as I have a blown tailshaft seal on my transfer case that needs to be replaced and the fluid looks like its never been changed so, I'm going to get it all changed out at the same time. Just want the information for future reference!
    Thanks for the vid, very informative btw. Appreciate it!

      You are welcome. I suggest always to check your Owner Manual for your vehicle if you have it. Also, if you have former Hummer dealer in your area - give them a call and give them your VIN number to check what fluid you need.
      Also, you can check one of the hummer forums - but it will take a sometime to find exactly what you need.
      Here is some info from other H3 owners FYI to consider... "ALL 2006 H3 Transfer cases require an additional 250 ml of fluid to be added via the speed sensor hole. And ANY 2007 H3 with a VIN of 56TDN13E778100102 or prior also requires the additional fluid to be added via the speed sensor hole. As for the fluid, you are supposed to use Dexron VI. The 06/07 owners manual might have said use Dexron IV since VI was not out when they were published. There was some confusion with the release of Dexron VI and Borg Warner, but it was eventually decided upon that Dexron VI is the recommended fluid for the BW T/cases. 2008 Owner manuals state to use Dexron VI, and I have just checked the 2006-2010 GM service manuals and they state to use Dexron VI for the T/C. But at no time was the fluid shown recommended by GM service engineering that I am aware of."

    I heard that the fill hole on the transfer case was made to low. That you had to take off the speed sensor above fill whole instead to add the proper amount of fluid through speed sensor hole.

      Yes for earlier year (06) H3's.

    I’m sorry to bug you but I was wondering about leveling my hummer I bought new torsion keys but I read that people just adjust the ones they already have, what would be the better way to do it? I also bought new shocks for a level hummer so wear won’t be a problem

    • @NewRoad
      @NewRoad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need new torsion key - all you need to do is to adjust it, see my video: th-cam.com/video/OJXq58NzJyE/w-d-xo.html
      What shocks did you get?

    • @NWCPcbenchmarks
      @NWCPcbenchmarks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Humman Off-Road Adventures I bought rancho 5000 w/1-2 lift at the front
      I’m at 73,000 miles and my current shocks are starting to look rough. One looks like it has a little leak but no squeaking or harsh ride yet.

    • @NewRoad

      Fill hole please - there is no other way.

      my bad i was confusing this with removing the transmission pan

    • @NewRoad
      @NewRoad  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      no problem, I kind of guessed that you were talking about transmission rather than transfer case :-)

      u happen to know.. my hummer was working fine but had a small tranny leak so i put some lucas transmission sealent and every other week my transmission wont shift to 3rd and 4th im trying to think with a flush it will fix the issue.. have u ever heard of issue like this

    • @NewRoad
      @NewRoad  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I haven't heard any issues related to using sealer - but I would not use in my truck. I would check gasket first and change transmission. Hope there is nothing serious with your truck and it is just gasket.

    By transfer case you mean transmission ? So after draining the fluid from the transmission are we not supposed to Refile from the Top ,where the Stick for transmission stick is ?Thanks ..

    • @NewRoad
      @NewRoad  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a transfer case - not transmission :-).

    • @stchman
      @stchman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many transfer cases like this one use automatic transmission fluid.

    So the debate is... use Dexron? Also it doesn't hurt to put some Teflon around the drain plug threads. Also take note that 2006 H3's require more fluid via the sensor hole.

    • @NewRoad
      @NewRoad  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dexron-VI, I bought it from former Hummer dealership...I went through few forums and decided to stick with what is recommended by maker. All above are very good points and I always recommend to do own research before every project :-). Thank you for your comments.
