The family I babysit for most the time 3-4 times a week. Pays me 15-20 dollars an hour for two kids. It’s a small town and everyone is desperate for babysitters and are willing to pay. Over all I love there kids there so sweet
Hi Lydia! That is a great price range for a small town. For me, price varies per family. It depends on responsibilities, location and the number of children. It is great that the demand is high , more families for you. BUT please be mindful about your time. Was that helpful?
I got $15 for 10 hours and I'm happy about that! Also because 2 of the 4 kids left for a couple hours that day! Plus I was more of a mommy helper than a babysitter.
Thanks for the comment Iris! Your hourly rate should never be lower than the minimum wage in the state you live in. That is my #1 rule when deciding on your rate with parents.
Hi Efren! Thank you for commenting 😊! Your hourly pay rate depends are factors such as: minimum wage in the state you live in, experience, education, # of children and responsibilities. Since it is your relative, your rate might be at a discount. However, are you paid $20 for how many hours?
The Babysitter Guru so technically 20 for a day but it’s like 6 hours she’s 4 so all I got to do is feed her and other small things and get $100 a week to me it’s extremely ez and good only thing it’s boring
@@efrencruz3466 Hi Efren! It all depends on preference. $20 a day for 6 hours is equivalent to $3 an hour. As long as you find your work enjoyable caring for your cousin, the money you are given is to compensate you for your hard work 😊
Y'all...first-time babysitters can (and should) charge at minimum $15/hr. You are caring for someone's *child*. Safety and protection costs, and all the families that I've ever worked with totally understand that. Please please PLEASE do not settle for minimum wage.
Hi Cori! My suggestions when deciding on your starting rate as a babysitter is the minimum wage in the state you live in and then proceed from there. You can add a $1 to each additional child or add $2 for any chores required or add more money for late night sitting. It depends.
When I was a young teen I would charge 15$ an hour and offer to do the dishes and pick up the messes the we made playing while I was watching them. To my moms close friends, but other people it was 20 to 25$ an hour if I cleaned up for them. if people wanted it by day I would do 80$ a day if they couldn’t afford my going price at 15$an hour. If you want to make more money babysitting you can charge 20$ an hour or even 25$ an hour if you offer to do some basic cleaning up like cleaning the table off, doing the dishes, picking up the messes the kids made in your care, a lot of working parents love coming home to a decent home! It save them having to stay up an extra two hours cleaning. If I babysat late at night I would charge 25$ an hour automatic especially if it was until like 3am and I would be going home after it also helps make the parents come home on time or close to on time because they don’t wanna spend so much money on the babysitter for a night out 😂 Some would come home earlier because they would spend to much money out at the bars 😂
Hi Lily! Solid advice! You were right on point with many of the things you said. You have to strategize your pricing to appeal to a larger market but not lowball yourself.

This is my first time babysitting, my minimum wage is around 7 dollars and I’m charging $8.00 an hour to start off with & the family has 4 kids and I’m going to be doing it for 2 hours. But… I’m not babysitting by myself, at least one of the parents will be there. Is that a good price?

Hi Mia! It all depends. I say to start your base rate by determining the minimum wage in the state that you live in then build from there. Charging extra for household duties which is outside of caring for the children, is correct. I hope that helps! My newest video is up now!
You won't probably beleive, me n my friend got paid 25 dollars each for a 5 hour babysitting period looking over 10 kids. The kids were making a mess all over the backyard and swimming pool. On the way to home, we joked about how we're the most underpaid babysitters in the world. Small town Arkansas
Definitely not. I'm the oldest of 4, and was the last one of us to have a child of our own. I've done a ton of babysitting in my lifetime. I'd say at least 90% of it was for free, because family is supposed to help out family. That's how we were raised. I had two families other than my own who I babysat for, but they were still friends of the family, and I did get paid from them, but I just couldn't justify the outrageous prices I'm hearing about today. One time I remember watching 6 kids overnight when I was 12-13, and I think I made maybe $20. I was thrilled with that. Now I am doing a bit of research on pricing because I have offered my niece the chance to watch my daughter for about 4hrs on a night coming up soon. She will definitely not be getting $80, I can tell you that for sure. I only make about $14/hr. How would it be fair for her to get more than I even make? It would make more sense to tell my job that I can't come in that night. She's 13. My daughter is 7. It's 4hrs, with my mother-in-law here as well (she just can't care for my daughter, at least not alone. She's physically incapable of it). Honestly, I was thinking like $20 would be fair, possibly even more than fair. She doesn't have to cook or clean or change diapers or do bath time. All she has to do is play with my daughter to keep her mostly occupied and help out with bedtime. That's it. My daughter should be sleeping for the last hour she's here too, so she basically has that time to herself. I haven't really found any advice for payment that suits our situation very well. Now I'm a little bit worried that my niece might do her own research and expect $20/hr! Just craziness. I'm not hiring a trained and experienced professional here. And honestly I never would. Keeping a kid alive and somewhat entertained and somewhat happy for a few hours isn't worth 50% more than I make working my ass off at my job. It CAN be difficult at times sure, but it's usually fairly easy, especially when you know it's only for a few hours.

Hi Alejandra! Thank you for the comment. I speak the truth and you are currently being underpaid. Babysitters are paid hourly, remember that! That pricing and hours factor out to be $4/hour. The base rate should start from the minimum wage in the state you reside in first and build from there.
Great! Now... that will be your starting base. You will add a dollar for responsibilities ($1) # of children is a ($1) each, house chores ($1), driving ($1), certifications ($1) and experience ($1).

This is why it is important you have the tools to become the best babysitter you can possibly be. I review these tools in my babysitting course. Check out my video where I talk about it :)

Love from bangladesh❤
Thanks for the love ❤️!! Let me know what you think of my other videos as well 😊

Hey giiiiirlss
Me a guy: hi I guess?
I charge $5 an hour for each kid.
Interesting to hear that! Where exactly do you reside and how many children do you babysit for?
I do that too, but not for each kid :)
That u for sharing
Absolutely ❤️
I'm 10 years old but as mature as a 12 year old-Me and my 11 year old friend were thinking about babysitting for 1 dollar per hour. Nevermind that!
People babysit 10 year olds, no matter how mature😂
I'm 14 but act like a 11 year old LOL
I wouldn't recommend that! However, to each its own.
Just posted my newest video! Check it out ❤️
My mom pays Babysitters $20 an hour....Unless I tell my mom she was awesome...then she gets $30 an hour.
Aren’t moms just awesome 😎!
Be sure to click on my new video up now.
I have a school project for school and I am in third grade
I get $10 per kid per day!
Hi Destiny! Your hourly rate depends on many things but I suggest you start with the minimum wage in the state you work in and go up from there.
I want to start babysitting but I don’t know how to start can you help me?
Absolutely! I think “A Babysitter’s Training Guide To Success” course is just for you. Please email me at thebabysitterguru@gmail.com
I babysit 3 days a week 12 hours a day and get paid $48 per day also I provide meals and baby wipes 😬
Hi Alejandra! Thank you for the comment. I speak the truth and you are currently being underpaid. Babysitters are paid hourly, remember that! That pricing and hours factor out to be $4/hour. The base rate should start from the minimum wage in the state you reside in first and build from there.
The Babysitter Guru thank you. Minimum in my state is $8.25
Great! Now... that will be your starting base. You will add a dollar for responsibilities ($1) # of children is a ($1) each, house chores ($1), driving ($1), certifications ($1) and experience ($1).
Would ten dollars an hour for the first time?
Hi! It depends on the state you live in and build up your hourly rate from there. I hope that helps!
i charge $5 an hour
Hi! Each babysitter can set their own price. However, I do advice to start building your price from the minimum wage in the state you live in first.
My newest video is up now :)
My first babysitting job I got payed 20$ for 3ish hours
Hi! I am glad you started your first babysitting gig. Keep me updated on how it goes :)

Wait..... for how many hours and children a day?!?! I am curious to know why you charge just $20 a day?
The Babysitter Guru I don’t babysit to often but that was my price range just for starters. And to help parents in desperate needs. I heard that was actually to much but I really don’t know. It’s been awhile that I baby sat
I would love to hear more about your journey in babysitting! It’s always intriguing to learn more about my fellow babysitters 😊
The Babysitter Guru it was actually nice I enjoyed babysitting. Do u babysit for a living ?
I babysit part time! And run The Babysitter Guru brand full time! I would love to move his conversation over email 😊
I wanna try $5 per hour +$2 for another kid
Hi! Thank you for sharing! You have the right to charge what you please but, I do advise that you have a starting rate of the minimum wage of the state you live in and build up from there.
I want to start babysitting but I’m only 12 and I don’t know how to earn the trust of some parents in order to get jobs.
Hi Rebecca! Great question! Parents have difficulty in establishing trust when hiring help to care for their children. This is why it is important you have the tools to become the best babysitter you can possibly be. I review these tools in my babysitting course. Check out my video where I talk about it :)
I’m 9 and I really want to be a baby sitter

Ok hmmm
I wanna start babysitting im 12 i have babysat kidsI knee
before how is 5 dollar an hour
Hi Haley! Great question! I suggest to always base your rate from the minimum wage in your state and go from there. Send me more questions via my email at info@thebabysitterguru.com
I charge $10/hr and +$5/hr per extra child
Hi Drew! You are in a roll! Firstly, the +$5/hr per extra child you charge is great. I love it. For your regular base rate of $10/hr will first depend on the minimum wage in the state you live in. Once you find that number out, SY t charging from there. Hope this helps ❤️
Stop moving back and forth pls when you speak!!😀🙂its kinda anoying!! :(
Thanks for the suggestion! However, if you don’t have anything nice to say... don’t say it at all. Hopefully the video was useful to you 😊
The Babysitter Guru you always find negative pple everywhere don’t mind them!
