    Thanks for the helpful videos. I found the easiest way for me is to charge $550 for my 24 hr rate However if a parent needs an overnight but not the 24hrs for example 7pm-7am I would charge my regular rate for working hours so if I put the kids to bed at 9 then stay up till 11 Doing laundry etc then my working hours are 7pm-11pm at $28/hr = $112 plus my flat overnight fee of $125 for 8 hours of sleeping time at their home. If the child wakes up I charge my regular hourly rate while their awake so this comes to $237 if the child slept through the night.

    As you said depends a lot on the ages of the kids for sure ; you can not compare waking up 3-4 times with baby/toddler than with a teen but at the end you are in the house , you are responsable and if something happens you are in charge ; so it’s fair to get paid for the night ;I have always charged 8 hours one price then time and half for over time after until the kids are sleeping if they went to bed later on the weekend I charge until I was awake with them, and parents allowed them to stay late and the parents call them for bed time so they know what I’m charging for so no surprises ; if kids are older and wanted to stay up longer , they have to call the parents and have their consent for it (if you willing to stay up ) if they are willing to pay you extra ! Flat rate for night I think is the best !!

    Good info. When I work an over night I charge my hourly rate for the first 12 hours and then an overnight stipend usually starting at $100.
    I also like the idea of the first 12 hrs my regular hourly rate and then the remaining 12 hrs half the hourly rate. Seems fair to me. As long as I am fairly paid for the workload I have then I am good but I always use my regular rate for the 1st 12 hrs of the day.
    If the parents are well to do with their finances then I being paid my hourly rate for the entire 24h period would be fair to ask for.
    I want to be able to earn what I need with out having to seem like I am money hungry.

    @thenannysolution I need some advice as I have a Dad who wants to only pay me for 8 hours when he goes away on trips and he needs 48 hour coverage. He’s a pilot and he is NOT struggling whatsoever. His concept is that the kids are 9 and 12 and they’re pretty self sufficient and I’m sleeping for 8 hours.

      I suggest turning him down. If he does not see your value then it is not worth working for him. Tell him what you charge for 24 hours and let him decide.

    Wondering what to do if the family decided not to pay after the service??

      I would ensure you have everything in writing before working for the family. That will ensure you are paid. I personally have never seen a nanny that is not paid for overnights.

    Great information!
    For a Four Days Live-In Nanny ( 7am to 7pm) with overnight care as needed, should she need to charge those overnight hours? She is paid $ 40/hour. Thanks!

    • @TheNannySolution
      @TheNannySolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, nannies charge for every hour they work. If a child is sleeping that does not charge the rate. If the overnight care is only occasionally they should only be paid for the nights they are on call.

    Who charges $25 an hour for babysitting? Most jobs don’t even pay that much.

    • @TheNannySolution
      @TheNannySolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Professional caregivers charge $20 - $30+ per hour for childcare in Canada.

      I work in northern VA, and I had families offered me 20-25/hr without me asking for it they just ask me if I’m okay with their pay. I consider myself very professional and I think I’m worth it.
