One is a single stack, the other is a double, everything else should be self explanatory. The 43 is a great CCW, if it doesn't fit your needs there are other options. But it doesn't take away the fact that the Glock 43 is a great single stack concealable 9mm.

The Glock 43 is a waste, you need to add a +2 mag extension in order for it to be usable. The G26 is thicker by a very slight margin and you get a lot more rounds along with the same concealability.

@@mr.papalaka374 you can't use it unless there is 2 more rounds? I always use mine with 6+1. Very "useable" lol! What a dumb comment.....

@@benbarry1330 pierce +1 extension with the factory mag which gives you the pinky extension, putting you at 7+1. For deep conceal it it absolutely perfect. You can also get a +2 from magguts.com that only extends the flush mag less than .25". So 8+1 for a very concealable gun.

For everyone that thinks the glock 43 is a waste you need to be open minded for people with small hands. The double stack glocks I can't release the mag without shifting the gun and making things difficult. For men and women with smaller hands the glock 42 and 43 are perfect. You get the dependability and toughness of a glock in a pistol that you can now operate without having to readjust your hand position.

Glock 43 is an awesome little gun with the +1 magazine ext. It feels great in a shoulder holster... Very thin, almost none existent. I prefer it over G26 for better concealment.

Makes sense, in general. I have both, keeping both.
The 43 conceals better, is lighter, and therefore is more apt to be carried than the 26.
Then again, there's no arguing taste.

Hello Glockshooter09. I know this is a late comment, but I wanted to let you know that as a professional firearms instructor for more than 30 years, as well as a retired law enforcement officer, I came to the same conclusion as you did between these two handguns.
I found virtually no difference in overall dimensions EXCEPT width. At its widest point, the Glock 26 is .160" wider than a G43. To some, this is significant, but as one who has been carrying a G26 concealed daily for almost 25 years now, not by any means a deal-breaker to me, especially if one carries in a professional grade holster with a well made belt. One quickly gets used to the feel of the wider gun, but it is true that if you are new to carrying, the difference does seem huge at first, and the G43 is certainly a bit more convenient. I'm not convinced that in a proper holster it is truly more concealable though. I started carrying my G26 before small single stack 9mm's were ever a thing, so maybe that colors my thinking on the matter.
The G26 was also my ankle gun for years on patrol duty, backing up a larger G17 or G19 in my duty holster. As such, I was required to qualify with it on the same course of fire as my duty gun, out to 25 yards to be allowed to carry it. That was actually quite easy to do. With the G43, not so much. I've tried it. It can be done but it is much harder, and to me, my minimum standard for a primary carry gun is that it be shootable to a minimum of 25 yards. Others may feel differently, but other professionals generally agree with me. The ability to use ANY Glock 9mm magazine in a G26 is also an advantage that simply can't be ignored.
I'm not saying that the G26 is not thicker and heavier than a G43. It most certainly is, and we should not pretend otherwise. I am saying that it is worth it to me in a primary carry gun. Having said that, my view is probably colored by the fact that over the years, I've been called upon to take law enforcement action while off-duty, and very happy to have been armed with the G26 and a spare hi-cap magazine. Now that I'm retired, I'd probably be fine with just a G43 since I no longer go in harm's way on purpose.
But the last area, about which we should not kid ourselves, is shootability differences between the G26 and G43. I don't think that there is anyone who has worked out with both who seriously contends that they are the same, especially in the hands of a newer shooter. I've tested this with multiple students in a controlled series of exercises only going out to 15 yards, but including time pressure, and not one student has ever posted a better performance with the G43 than with the G26. In fact, past 5-7 yards, it is not even close.
I'm not at all saying that the G43 is a bad gun. I'm saying it is light and small, to a fault, and that hardly anyone runs one as well as they think they do at any realistic speed. I'm also not crazy about having to resort to aftermarket parts to get a reasonable magazine capacity or a decent trigger, when I can just buy a G26 for about the same money and slap my preferred sights on it and I'm good to go. I'll happily carry the extra 3.7 ounces and put up with the extra .160 inch in width. Others may feel differently and that is their choice, provided they understand the mission for the gun.
We have run tests with the S&W Shield, the Walther PPS M2, the Springfield XDS, and even the Kahr P9 with new students and all of these pistols have turned in consistently higher scores than the G43. Having said that, some of our students still prefer the size and convenience of the G43, although all have reported sensing lower recoil with the other pistols including the G26. In the main, the shooters who prefer the G43 tend to be athletic males who can muscle the gun a bit. Our female and elderly students consistently prefer the Glock 42 in .380 ACP and shoot it better.
I get what you were trying to say about your Ruger pocket gun, but don't kid yourself about its limitations under stress beyond bad breath range. At least for you, you didn't make a mistake in selling your G43. I keep mine around as an example to new shooters of a gun that looks and feels great and is well made, but can be very challenging to shoot well.
All this of course is just one man's opinion based on experience, but I don't fault anyone who makes a different choice and shoots it well.

You have a very good point. I was on the fence between these two guns, the shield, and the sig p365. My two reasons that I carry are 1. An attacker, and 2. An active shooter situation. I have some prior law enforcement and military experience, I am well versed with the smith and weson m&p .40, which I carried as a LEO. I really think that I'm leaning more towards the glock 26 for concealed carry daily, even in the summer. I dont believe in bellu guns (ruger lcp, etc) because if the attacker is that close, I'm either going hands on or I'm gaining distance to draw an accurate firearm that I can shoot well. I think I'll go for the glock 26

I have owned many Glocks including three (3) Glock 26s (actually my favorite Glock). I Bought the Glock 42 (.380) & the Glock 43 (9mm) and
could not be more happy with the Glock 43. The Glock 42 was too small for my XXL hands but the Glock 43 fit fine and
shot amazingly well for me. So to Glockshooter09 *we disagree:*
Another Point of View on the G43
Common Human traits that make the *Glock 43 a better choice for CCW* than a Glock 26:
*Fact One* - In concealed carry most people carry their lightest weapon/tool and leave their heavier ones at home for convenience.
*Fact Two* - In almost all CCW shooting incidents 2 to 4 shots are fired. This means their is no real advantage to the emotional blanket of more than five (5) rounds in a CCW handgun.
*Fact Three* - the G43 is a real sub-compact handgun. Thus, the G26 is not a real sub-compact it is a compact handgun.
*Fact Four* - The term “Baby Glock” means a small concealable Glock. This term describes best the G43 and not the Glock 26 due to:
    *1st* obvious dimensions
    *2nd* true measured physical dimensions
*3rd* the slimmer slide of the G43 is a “Baby Glock” advantage over the G26 for CCW
*4th* the lighter weight of the G43 *(18 oz)* vs the G26 *(21.7 oz)* weight = sub-compact big time
*Fact Five* - The G42 is for petit hands (small men, most women, youth). It is the same gun as the G43 but in a smaller size & caliber.
It is also much better than the larger size & grip of the G26.
I am not only keeping the Glock 43 *I recommend it highly!*
In respect to the video maker here are the facts of todays handgun bullets/magazine capacity:
    1. All hand gun calibers are weak at "stooping" power & killing power.
    2. The power of your hand gun is your *shot placement.*
    3. In almost all real life CCW & self defense shootings 4 to 5 shots are fired on average.
    4. The most effective by far man stoppers/killers are the shotgun shell & the rifle bullet.
The three (3) best ways in CCW & self defense to be more effective in stopping/killing power is to:
    1. practice
    2. practice
    3. practice
This has very little to do with the type of handgun or caliber you use.
NOTE: I have seen Navy SEALs carry the Glock 43 as their CCW of choice and are completely happy with it.
    Just saying.

The 43 is substantially lighter and thinner than the 26. I have both. The slide is under .90" and the grip is .95" thick. When you hold them up and say little difference, the camera shows a major difference in width.

    • @huntercarney5525
      @huntercarney5525 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

+justus005 hmm.. I've played it over and over many times and still fail to see any "major differences". If you think .2inches is more major than 3 extra rounds, you should probably buy pants with a .2 inch bigger waist and carry the g26

    • @justus005
      @justus005 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

the actual difference is .24 inches in grip width. The ability for one to accommodate that within pants or shorts, is no problem at all what so ever. A quarter inch is substantial though, and becomes very apparent when wearing a t shirt that actually fits. If you are not fat and have abs and wear decent fitting clothing, .24 inches under a t shirt is pretty darn noticeable. If you are over weight and dress like a slob it won't make a difference. The comfort will not come simply from the difference in width. However, the 43 loaded weighing what a g26 does unloaded + being approximately .24 inches more narrow, leads to a very comfortable gun. For edc lifestyle under a multitude of conditions the g43 is an extremely nice firearm. The g26 cannot adapt to everything the G43 can. EDC wise the g43 is awesome, I just have a bigger gun for home defense work.

I have to disagree strongly with this video and here's why. The glock 26 is bigger and thicker than the g43. It may not be a difference to you where you live but I live in Florida where I wear shorts and a tank top 99% of the time year round. The glock 26 thickness and length in comparison prints heavily versus the 43.
Also, any gun that's bigger will usually shoot better, that goes without saying but neither of these guns are going to win shooting contests. They are made for close quarter engagements at a maximum of a few feet. Both are very capable I'm that regard.
lastly, the avg engagement uses 2 shots...yup all of 2 shots. So I agree the capacity is an advantage for the 26 but it's not like the 43 with 6 cannot save your life. I understand his point but I think the 43 it's a FANTASTIC option for those of us with very little capability of concealment because of weather and clothes.

you are obviously entitled to your opinion however. you say the size difference makes the G26 print HEAVILY compared to the 43.. the glock 26 is only 4MM longer than the 43 that's nothing you will ever notice the glock 43 is actually 2mm taller than the 26, again, not an issue. the thicknes is less than 2 tenths of an inch, really not that big of a difference. the big difference is the weight, the 43 is 4 ounces lighter, that is a big difference. I agree with your thoughts on clothing, here in michigan in the summer I hate trying to find something to where that will support a holster, so I do just as the poster of this video, I carry an LCP in my pocket. With my extended mag I can carry 8 rounds. thats plenty to take care of myself, if not, im somewhere I really should'nt be anyway

Well it really is not the Glock's fault. It is always the buyer's fault. Before I buy a pistol for concealed carry, my number 1 requirement is capacity. Next is footprint. So the obvious choice for me is the G26. I dont see the point of buying a gun you knew firsthand only carries 6+1 and yet bought it?

I can't disagree with your assessment of the G26 as an excellent choice for CCW. However for me, the G43 carries WAAAYYY easier than the G26. I've owned a G27 (same size as the G26 - for those who might see this video and not know) for years now. While I absolutely love the G27, the G43 pretty much disappears on my side. When wearing the G27, I'm constantly reminded of it's presence with a poke in the side. I'm not very tall and have a slender build, so maybe that accounts for the difference. Depending on the weather and what I'm wearing, I switch back and forth between the two pistols for CCW. However, I find that I carry the G43 at least 90% of the time now, because it's so much easier to comfortably conceal and carry. While I shoot the G27 generally better than the G43, for practical self defense distances, the difference in accuracy between the two is negligible.
I respect your choice on the G26, but I'd advise others who have seen this video to make the decision for themselves.

The 43 does fall short of the 26 in every category except concealability, weight and comfort to carry. These 3 reasons in a CC gun make the 43 the best choice, for me. If these 3 reasons aren't a priority for you, then the 26 is the much superior weapon. I guess that's why a lot of people end up getting both.

IMHO, the G36 is the perfect size Glock... I carried a G26 for about 10 years and wanted to go with a slimmer carry so got the G36 and never been disappointed with it! The G36 really is the perfect size, it's single stack, an 1/8 inch slimmer than the G26 and the G19 and it's more fun to shoot at the range. The G43 is down-right painful to shoot, it's just too small. Get a G36, add a steel guide-rod and extended barrel (to make it a little less snappy) drop-in a Zev trigger kit and you've got an accurate, lightweight, slim, all-around great carry piece.

Then when smaller is needed, its short grip length allows it to stay hidden. Really not that much difference in thickness of the 26 to a 19, or a 17 to a 19. For the sake of this subject, the grip of the 43 fits my wife's hand nicely, and she uses it as her EDC. I put a +2 Sintercore on the flat bottomed stock mag, but she hasn't tried it out yet. After watching this, I tried to put it in my cargo shorts pocket. Either your pockets are smaller, or mine were just bigger, it fit fine. I guess it comes down to this...we all need to practice and become proficient at what we choose to carry. I mean there is a limit , obviously, at what a person can comfortably carry concealed. I like the 26 though. I know a guy that carries a 19 EDC, and loves it. Thanks for a good video.

I purchased the G43 just recently and truly LOVE IT. I had the G26 for several years, but then purchased the G19/4 and found out WHY carry a G26 over the G19. Sold my G26 for a G23/5 which I also truly LOVE. NOW, having only a G42 for a light carry I talked myself into a G43 now that it has been out awhile. Was worried about control as why I waited. I was totally WRONG. The control was No Problem at all, but yes only 6 over the G26 ten rounds, but I have 15 rounds with my G19. If round count was a major concern, I’ll just carry my G19-PERIOD. The G42 as well as the G43 fill the concealment problems that a 2.5+ LBS Glock Compact would impose! Round counts get over emphasized to the point of being absurd as to why one purchases a specific platform. If your not comfortable with 6 or 7 in a mag, how would 15 to 17 make you feel better? Spend more time at the range just might help. Might want to leave those keys out of your carry, that might solve the round count for you.

I don't understand how you can say they are so close in size. The weight, feel, and print is significant. Many gun reviews aside from the G43, equate a grip difference of 1/8" to be significant, and the G26 is MORE than 1/8" thicker, and is nearly 4oz heavier!

To each their own. I totally agree with your own personal assessment. However, that assessment does not resonate with the mass majority of people who CCW on a regular basis. It does not attribute to the popularity of single stack 9mm such as the shield and now the Glock 43.
I say carry the LARGEST possible handgun with the most amount of rounds that ALLOW YOU THE ABILITY TO CARRY IN ALL CONDITIONS THE MOST OFTEN. People have different requirements. If I can carry my Glock 43 for 8-10 hours without issue and without making some dumb excuse like "its" uncomfortable" that is far better than carrying a glock 26 for only 4 hours or worst, telling myself not to carry it because its uncomfortable. For alot of people, carrying a Glock 43 all day and remain concealable is doable where as a glock 26 simply isn't. If the opposite is true, then by all means choose a glock 26 (though id consider a glock 19 at that point especially if you were to add a pink ext).

Everything sounded reasonable until you said that little Ruger was a good gun. Those guns are junk. Your Glock review now lacks credibility. Size and weight are important. Smaller lighter guns are critical when concealing. Both the Glocks you reviewed are good. Having carried off duty for 37 years, it's all about weight. The VAST majority of defensive shootings are over in about 3 seconds and are very close up......number of rounds are not an issue. Speed.....center mass.....face.......you win and live. Practice being the winner. Sell the Ruger, keep the 43.

Smart decision because all single stack guns are a huge compromise for not much space when it comes down to it. You lose almost %40 of your ammo with a stock mag for virtually the same size gun and you lose out on the other mag options of the 19 and 17

The difference in thickness is actually a huge difference. I was really puzzled why he said there was not much difference when he held both at 3:00 there obviously was a big difference in width. I've also held both and with the G43, I don't need to buy new set of pants. With the G26, I would need pants 1 size bigger, it's very tight in the waist! The G26 is actually as thick as the g19, only acceptable if you're a big guy.

All you guys worried about round count. How many times have you drawn your pistol? On top of that, how may of you honestly expect to EVER be in an actually gunfight? You won't. You will never ever NEED 7 rounds let alone 10+. "What if?" Is that what's coming? Or the "I have a fire extinguisher even though I don't expect a fire in my kitchen"? I bet you have the smallest fire extinguisher you can get away with in case of fire, but you "need" all the ammo you can get? Wake the fuck up and get real. In a pinch, which is what your EDC is for, 7 rounds is PLENTY.

I was looking into getting a carry gun, then compared the 43-26 I came to the same conclusion, the 43 is not that much smaller then the 26 a few millimeters here and there, and the 26 is shorter. The 43 does not look like a true single stack it is still to wide.

  • @bdm1000
    @bdm1000 8 ปีที่แล้ว

I concur. I had a G43 when they first came out after waiting for so long, but I was utterly disappointed. I sold it before I even fired or put any money into it. The G26 is king! I actually knew this when I ordered the G43 after having a Springfield XDs9, Walther PPS, and Shield. I just thought I'd give Glock the last say on single stacks and now I'm over it. I really do like the Shield though, and if I ever found myself in the market for a single stack 9mm, I'd probably buy it again. This is how I look at it. 1911 guys should know better. They put grip panels to widen the grip for better control. The could have put slimmer side panels on them, but they did it for a reason. Similarly, using polymer, Glock could have made a Glock 43-sized pistol in the 1990's when they designed the Glock 26. The technology and need for comfort/concealability was there, but again, they realized the advantage of keeping it a standard width for shootability's sake (not to mention using G19/G17 mags for it. I'm one of those guys who hates carrying inside the waistband, but Mitch Rosen makes a pancake holster called the UPL that keeps the G26 high and close to my body and it's wonderful. I'm done looking for concealed carry firearms. I've been through many more than I mentioned and I keep going back to the G26. It's Glock at it's best in my opinion.

  • @jarhead2783
    @jarhead2783 5 ปีที่แล้ว

It takes more than a month to get comfortable shooting any new weapon system. Do your research, the majority of self defense instances where a firearm is discharged the average is 2 shots fired. So the “opinion” you have on capacity is flawed. The 43 is a concealed carry only gun. It doesn’t imprint like the G26. Any CCW carrier should be aware of the steps to take to ensure not to brandish a firearm.

You make a big deal about the length that is very similar, but you do not mention that the weight consideration is a big deal. The Glock 26 weighs 21.7 ounces and the Glock 43 weighs 18.0 ounces...almost 4 ounces more. That is significant. There is also a difference in width too, which could contribute to increased printing.

Throughout the year I carry my G26 in my front pocket in an Alabama pocket holster. I like to wear the Wrangler camo anthracite cargo shorts or pants so there’s no printing. I’m used to the weight and bulk of the G26 and I can draw that beast just as fast, if not faster, than most (except for experienced AIWB and Flashbang carriers).
