Just want to say, this video made me decide to go with Keene, I live in az and felt that she was best option. I am about 7 months post op and can’t even explain how happy I am. I am so glad to have come across your video before I fully committed with another dr
I just had a HT at Physicians Hair Institute with Dr Keene on 17 April 2023... 2,750 FUT. It's my 2nd with Dr Keene, my first in 2006 in Tucson with 1,100 FUT. Total roughly 4,000 grafts. I love Dr Keene... Edit: My first linear scar was almost undetectable... simply amazing. In 6 months I'll get micro pigmentation on any scarring after this last FUT surgery.
I went with Dr Keen. Around 2007. At that time I just opted for oral med and rogain. I love how she explained everything and did not rush me into surgery. She gave me options . Now it’s 2022 , and I’m scheduled for surgery In a few months with her . I have also heared great things about her back in 2005 when I was doing research and it shows in her work .
Joe, This video and the results shows just how good FUT (strip) surgery can be still. I think a good message to send to your viewers is if they are a Norwood 4 or more they should be looking to do strip as their first procedure. Strip grafts are the best quality grafts and won’t deplete their donor zone for subsequent surgeries. I’m not sure why this message isn’t an industry standard message.
Hi Joe. I had two procedures with Dr. Keene (first in Nov. 2001, and second in Jan. 2020, both strip procedures) and I can say I was very happy I found her and have been totally satisfied both times. It's quite difficult for me to even find my strip scar. When I decided to look into a second procedure, I didn't even think about going to anyone else. The fact that I live only a couple hours away from Tuscon in Phoenix was convenient also. Besides her great skills and experience, I felt good knowing she is very ethical. What do I mean by ethical? Not all doctors are. I know a mature woman who also lives in the Phoenix area, who was having some density thinning as she aged. I thought she looked fine, but it bothered her. She consulted a Phoenix area practice, and went with that doctor. Her first meeting was only with what I consider a non-medical salesman. As she described it, he was like a buisness manager. She did not even get to meet the surgeon until the day and time of the surgery. I could not believe it. That bothered me more than it did her. This explains what I mean about going with an ethical doctor, one who is not in it just for the money. There is NO WAY that Dr. Keene would accept you and operate on you without having first met and examined you, determined you are an appropriate candidate for hair transplant, and your expectations are realistic. I think her surgeon was not only unethical, but bordered on malpractice. He would probably say nonsense, he examined her right before the surgery. Sure. I knew I was in good hands all the way with Dr. Keene. On a side note, just wanted to say that you have a great result on your restoration, and if I understood correctly, you were a NW7, so you really had a great outcome. Especially noteworthy to me is that you avoided the temptation that apparently a lot of guys fall for......shooting for that 16 year old hairline. If I had anyone ever ask my advice after going through this process, I would stress that......don't go for an unnaturally low hairline. Aim for an age appropriate hairline. That will also conserve grafts for where you really need them. My first procedure lowered my naturally higher hairline just a tad, per my request to only lower very little, probably less than about a quarter inch. The second one a couple decades later just filled in behind. I got a total of a little over 4,000 grafts combined for the two strip procedures I did.
Thanks for your comment. Yeah, Dr. Keene is pretty special and I'm glad you had TWO great experiences with her. Thanks also for your comment about my own result. I was not only a (nearly) NW7 but a repair patient as well. Life is much better now:)
A good number of those were under 4000 grafts so the question is, what is Dr. Keene doing right compared to other doctors? Obviously hair characteristics have a lot do with it but, some of those guys looked like they had fine hair and they still had a great finished product. Not to sound like a complete skeptic here but do they have concealer on as well? I have a feeling Dr. Keene will be getting a lot of new customers because those results are simply amazing.
I don’t have any need for restoration personally (I’m a lady with long, thick hair).. but I stumbled across your channel via a related try guys video. Very interesting and educational!
I'm assuming that all of these guys that still have significant hair on their head are recommended to begin using Propecia/Finasteride since they're at the beginning of the balding process and why she was able to be aggressive with some of them?
Most likely, yes. When it is seen that medication works in preventing further loss then being more aggressive comes with a stronger safety net, given proper caveats of course.
Joe, how did I not come across your channel earlier? Very very cools I currently live in Scottsdale... could you do one on Dr. Shelly Friedman? Or maybe some other Arizona Docs that are any good? Thanks for the info!
@@hairtransplantchannel yeah... Driving 6 hours, getting a hotel is a pain in the butt compared to driving 1 hour to Pensacola or Panama City. I'm surprised the Ritch beach town of Destin,FL don't have a skilled hair transplant doctor. God knows there are more Boobs Doctors than southern Baptist Churches now down here lmao. Well thanks for your videos and information Joe bro.
@@hairtransplantchannel I don't want to bother them about it since my hair transplant is more like a distant dream at this point.. Hi Joe, long time watcher of your stuff. This might sound a bit crazy, where you in the home depot in south surrey today? I could have sworn I saw you in the car park. Small world
Oh great, now I have a stalker! Yes, I was there. The Home Depot in Vancouver didn't have what I needed so the wife and I took a short road trip. I hope my truck wasn't too dirty:)
Ha! If I were to do that I'd be spending most of my subsequent six months dealing with all the clinics that would be emailing me because of their bruised egos:)
I had to replace the video, so it means I lost all my views so forgive the repeat but it was necessary to regain some lost ground. Thanks for your understanding and your support.
Not all Caucasians have big foreheads, why should their hairlines be brought up in HT, when their natural, matured hairline is lower unless the patient doesn't have the best donor hair and the patient had a lot of hair loss ?
Those are the more common reasons for hairlines being placed higher than original. There is only so much donor hair to go around and if the loss is extensive, or predicted to be, ya gotta be smart about distribution.
@@hairtransplantchannel well yes that makes sense, if you're predicted to be a NW7 and your donor supply is limited, it's better to fill in than leave a hole in the middle. But if you have a great amount of donor hair and you don't have that much loss in the future, you can do one cm from your last forehead wrinkle. But I'm not here to lecture you since I base most of my knowledge on your great videos, even though I don't plan on getting a HT, I've been using minoxidil for 2 months and I'm already getting wispy hairs on my temples, however I'm not a severe case, I was balding for a year before I started using minox, however I'm quite young (age 19) considering my father only started balding in his mid 30s, my grandpa never went bald past his mature hairline and my maternal grandpa is completely bald, but he didn't start balding until his 30s. Anyways, I'm just rambling on. I wish you a happy 2020.
@@kristijanEX Just remember it is all about supply vs. demand. In some cases, lower hairlines are fine but because hair loss is traditionally difficult to predict most physicians prefer to err on the side of caution and leave some donor hair "in the bank" as it were.
