    I bought this bike last autumn. It’s so much fun and so nimble in tight tricky situations. Loved the video man, these trails look great. I’m in the UK so the trails and terrain are so different.

    Nice bike! I just bought a 2022 Stumpjumper Alloy. Coming from my hardtail Rockhopper to my first full suspension mtb is like a night and day difference. I had my dealer setup the bike along with going tubeless setup. Never had a tubeless setup but hear great advantages to having it. Looks like a nice trail in Florida! I'm up in Pennsylvania and we have hilly and rocky trails. Great video and have fun riding!

    I have the same bike only in the cast umber clay color. You can turn the knobs on the brakes to fine tune the bite point of the brake. It helps so you can have them bite sooner. Great content can't wait for the next video. Subscribed.

    I enjoyed your video. I have a Stump jumper Comp from 07. I run tubes with 25 psi. It works great. I suggest you may lower your pressure with tubes with great success.

    Thanks. Just last week I got a stumpie just like yours only S5 ( I’m 6’3”) and the gunmetal color. Ok it’s not just like yours but close. Problem I’m having is that it’s currently about 5 deg F and plenty of snow on the ground (I’m in Colorado) so I haven’t yet been able to ride it!

    I have both the Rockhopper and Stumpjumper, before going tubless on my Rockhopper I was running 27psi in both tires, as for my Stumpjumper I pitched the sram brakes and put Shimano on it, as for ride quality it definitely feels like it's stuck to the trail

    I took this same exact bike down a black diamond trail in Marquette Michigan and the suspension reached it's limit pretty quickly. But it's an awesome bike for a beginner.

    • @vasthepirate5673
      @vasthepirate5673  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our Florida diamond/double black are pretty mellow in comparison to anywhere else. So I far I have been ok with susp. not bottoming out. If it happens I'll consider upgrading tho, thanks for heads up!

    • @jlj547
      @jlj547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vasthepirate5673 Well the issue with suspension is it doesn't like repeated hits that much, I read on thread that the rear shock is the main culprit and I would agree with that. The fork has to compensate a lot for the rear shock. The trail I rode on was a really chunky trail so when you start going really fast your shaking like nuts lol and the bike becomes very hard to control. I plan on replacing the rear shock with a DVO seems to be a really good shock.

      @Mikesonbikes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jlj547 adjust your rebound!

    • @jlj547
      @jlj547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mikesonbikes That won't compensate for the shock on this model. You can only go so slow on the rebound before it just bottoms out all the time on rough terrain. Now if I rode a lot slower then it's not a problem. The shock doesn't have good support. I plan on changing it out with a stronger shock in the future.

  • @silverbackshooting1563
    @silverbackshooting1563 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I wouldn’t tell people to set their rear to suspension to half open… open it all the way up and if your sag isn’t set correctly then you could be struggling on climbs. Also the brakes are not squishy but may need adjustment which you can do with the little dial on the brake lever.

    • @vasthepirate5673
      @vasthepirate5673  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback, I’m kind of a noob when it comes to full suspension, and still learning some things. I’ll make a follow up video to talk about the susepension etc. I did figure out how to tighten the brakes and had no issues with them so far

    If you haven't gone tubless yet drop your tire pressure to 30psi, you shouldn't have any problems hitting big jumps and drops, it'll also help with grip also

    Admire the frame. Alloy, not that carbon-junk that always has weight limitations. My neighbor has the Comp Alloy, and having a 260 pound frame(plus daypack), on the saddle, he has all-day trail rides with luxury performance.

    I need a bike for flat trials in se texas. This or status? I think i read status is more for downhill?

    • @vasthepirate5673
      @vasthepirate5673  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont have any exp with status but based on its specs and travel it's more of a downhill bike. This is more of an all arouind "trail" bike. I think if you will be doing mostly flat trails, this would be a better option, but if you can, I recommend doing a demo and also chatting with someone at a local bike shop

    • @vasthepirate5673
      @vasthepirate5673  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I say see if you can find a store where you can try both… s4 should offer better maneuverability and s5 better stability at speed. I went with s4 and i’m 6ft exactly. Really loving it after riding for a while now

    Should I do S2 or S3 for a 5.5-5.6 male?

    • @vasthepirate5673
      @vasthepirate5673  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey my best recommendation to you would be to try and find both sizes in stock somewhere and then ride them both... Like you, I was also between sizes (S4 and S5), I'm 6foot, so I did a test ride on both sizes and found that the larger size felt a bit harder to control. I felt very comfortable on the S4 which is what I got. Per Specialized site (www.specialized.com/us/en/s-sizing) going for the larger size, you get better stability at higher speed (so if you have straighter flowy trails vs. you get better handling with a smaller size (think tight turns and switchbacks).
