Your choir is well trained and experienced.. They have memorized their parts and can sing them at a lively tempo. Everyone wants to sing the Hallelujah Chorus, but most don't reach the level Handel had in mind to capture the worship at the heavenly throne. I believe you caught the life, joy and beauty of the beatific vision.
@Konstantin Ridaya Handel wrote the piece for the less skilled choristers of Dublin. It takes a conductor who doesn't mind teaching and drill. Speed and fluency are a biproduct of work. The conductor who just expects the chorus to open their parts and sight-sing is lazy and will achieve the performance he or she deserves, but treats the chorus without respect.

@@IvanIvanov-vy7pt Keep your eye to the heavens , and over time, the earth will satisfy less and less. Time is catching up with the body. I have sung Messiah several times with community choirs. Part memorization was never required, so at performance, members still struggled with parts and did not watch the conductor or listen to orchestra or other choristers. In Heaven, that is how all will sing, plus on-key in perfect pitch! Happy Christmas to you and yours.
