Sharada Shaffter was 80 years old when we recorded the Hymn in 2008. ( she is past 90 years and lives in Chennai India ). We wanted to recognise the veteran conductors of the city who toiled many years to train choirs . The quality of singing of the choirs are the hard work of ladies like her so wanted to recogine them. The arrangement of this hymn was picked by Sharada aunty.

There are some beautiful Churches, both Catholic and Anglican, and even Synagogues in India. Throughout India Christianity is the third largest Faith. Without being political, many say that Christianity stems from earlier British presence but, that is incorrect. By far the biggest influence was Portugese.
Christianity is widely followed in many Asian Countries. Just prior to Covid I spent some time in Myanmar (Burma) and there is a huge Catholic following. There is a massive Cathedral in Yangon (Rangoon) and, at a Sunday service I attended it was standing room only. There were thousands of Burmese people at that Mass and, it was regarded as just a normal Sunday congregation.

I am a minister who simply loves hymns. The richness of the lyrics remain profound, no matter when they were written. This choir does absolute justice to a resounding hymn of glory and praise. Sharada Shaffter was 80 years old when we recorded the Hymn in 2008. ( she is past 90 years and lives in Chennai India ). We wanted to recognise the veteran conductors of the city who toiled many years to train choirs . The quality of singing of the choirs are the hard work of ladies like her so wanted to recogine them. The arrangement of this hymn was picked by Sharada aunty.
