As a 25 year old who was scene during the height of myspace scene culture, it's kind of odd to see my old style/aesthetic being reinterpreted by kids with only a tenuous grasp on what scene even is. But it's also kind of endearing. Like I guess I'm just glad that there's a revival happening of something that was so special to me. Maybe this reinterpretation is just how scene culture needs to naturally evolve and change to survive, that kinda happens to all subcultural styles over time. Same with punk and goth.

i consider myself emo, but i had no idea scenecore existed until now. i'm 18 in 4 days, i was born a bit late & restricted by parents so i couldn't really enjoy scene and emo culture when i was younger. i was only able to begin dressing emo and openly enjoying this stuff beginning in 2019-2020 even though i've liked the music & aesthetics since i was 10. i'm not sure if that makes me like one of the scenecore kids tho.. i do know i can't stand the danganronpa fandom and will never associate with it though 💀

There's a small pool of people around your age group that still hasn't let go of this rebellious fashion and cute hair, you'd be surprised. for hair dye, "iroiro" is pretty good at sticking and i think its cheaper than articfox (around $10), make sure you wear gloves though because it will make your hands dyed for like a week!!

I definitely dressed scene/emo in the 2000s in high school, but I primarily listened to metal. Was also briefly into pop punk. Now I probably dress more metal/grunge than scene, but I still still have side bangs for example. Why would anyone middle part?! Kidding. Sort of. Anyway, not to sound like an annoying millennial, but it's so funny to watch younger kids idolize my generation's style. But I guess I did get to do some cool stuff like see MCR during the Black Parade era when they weren't as big. Got to go to Warped Tour during the height. Honestly I'm just so confused. Scenecore is literally just the aesthetic of scene culture right? I mean y'all are saying it's "different" but how. I looked it up and it's just hello kitty, rainbows, invader zim and other imagery that was popular in "the scene" back on the day. Just discovered your channel and I love your videos! Also, I've been looking into dyeing my hair and I've heard good things about Lunar Tides Hair - good company as far as I know, vegan + cruelty free, lots of colors (Cerulean Sea looks closest to what you have), and I've heard people say it doesn't transfer onto stuff as much as other dye, which is the main thing I've been looking for. Haven't actually tried it yet, but I want to dye my hair and they seem cool but not as well known, thought I'd share :)
in my opinion i don’t think scenecore is a bad thing, it’s what introduced me & a bunch of other people 2 scene & i personally honestly prefer it over true 2000s scene because i like bright colors & rainbows way more than blacks/greys. the way i see it it’s sort of how scene has evolved, but it is probably best to keep the 2 things separate/clarify which 1 u r referencing, since there is a pretty big difference but hey, this is just coming from a gen z who didn’t see much of the true scene era so take my opinion with a grain of salt

On scenecore, I'm pretty suuuuure Scenecore is now a subgenre of hyperpop, and what the aesthetic of it was was just stuff associated with hyperpop I think, like bright colours and anime characters and digital aesthetics. Yah ALSOOO i don't think it makes sense to have it be called "scenecore" because a lot of it seems fo have nothing to do with scene stuff. The music though, it's hyperpop with kinda scene-ish lyrics and stuff? But the visual stuff doesn't make sense to me

I was so obsessed with an elegant goth style back in the myspace days, I barely acknowledged the emo/scene style. honestly scenecore has the potential to be a new subculture of a different name. they have an attitude (cringe culture is dead), a music style (hyperpop and "scenecore music") a style of dress (a hybrid of 2021alt, scene fashion, and cosplay) they have a freaking mascot (that girl from danganronpa idk her name) but that didnt happen. just slapped the aesthetic marker "core" at the end of scene and now the waters are muddied. This opinion is inspired by a comment on maya malice's video about scenecore so ig im not completely original.
I just think it's weird as hell to see kids doing this because I was bullied out of it years ago. I was in 8th when i JUST caught the tail end of scene being popular and didn't have the funds to look how I wanted. I'm too old (26) to return to the aesthetic now that I have the money. Honestly I'm just so confused. Scenecore is literally just the aesthetic of scene culture right? I mean y'all are saying it's "different" but how. I looked it up and it's just hello kitty, rainbows, invader zim and other imagery that was popular in "the scene" back on the day. I just find it weird when people tack the word "core" on to everything and make it some new word. I do find it cringey when ppl refer to genuine scene people as "scenecore" tho like we are not an aesthetic JUST CALL US SCENE.
As someone who likes scenecore, its def closer to glitchcore or hyperpop. It only has scene bc it uses some scene elements. Ive also seen people say its the modern version of scene and that its scene with more modern fashion? I always see a mixed answer so...i just say i like scene and scenecore lolz

Just discovered your channel and I love your videos! Also, I've been looking into dyeing my hair and I've heard good things about Lunar Tides Hair - good company as far as I know, vegan + cruelty free, lots of colors (Cerulean Sea looks closest to what you have), and I've heard people say it doesn't transfer onto stuff as much as other dye, which is the main thing I've been looking for. Haven't actually tried it yet, but I want to dye my hair and they seem cool but not as well known, thought I'd share :)

in my opinion i don’t think scenecore is a bad thing, it’s what introduced me & a bunch of other people 2 scene & i personally honestly prefer it over true 2000s scene because i like bright colors & rainbows way more than blacks/greys. the way i see it it’s sort of how scene has evolved, but it is probably best to keep the 2 things separate/clarify which 1 u r referencing, since there is a pretty big difference
but hey, this is just coming from a gen z who didn’t see much of the true scene era so take my opinion with a grain of salt

I found you on TH-cam... I don't do Chinese Tik Tock and I've never been on Instagram. LOL I loved myspace back in the day. But since then it's been facebook and TH-cam and that's it. I was so obsessed with an elegant goth style back in the myspace days, I barely acknowledged the emo/scene style. I did listen to emo music though, they were among the many rock and metal bands I would listen to as a teen. It's funny how I'm way more into the style now... back then I was into wearing heels every day so big difference lol.
I do think a lot of your average people just have the bare minimum social media which is TH-cam and Facebook. At least that's how it is for me and my husband. I remember being introduced to instagram and thinking, another site for posting pictures on? I already do that on facebook... so I didn't see the point and still don't lol. And there are reels on fb and shorts on youtube so I don't see the point in another one of those in the form of tick tock lol....Then again I'm turning 34 this year so maybe I am missing/missed something.

honestly scenecore has the potential to be a new subculture of a different name. they have an attitude (cringe culture is dead), a music style (hyperpop and "scenecore music") a style of dress (a hybrid of 2021alt, scene fashion, and cosplay) they have a freaking mascot (that girl from danganronpa idk her name) but that didnt happen. just slapped the aesthetic marker "core" at the end of scene and now the waters are muddied. This opinion is inspired by a comment on maya malice's video about scenecore so ig im not completely original.
