That is a crazy beautiful guitar! Never owned a Carvin/Kiesel guitar (did own a Carvin T100 power amp from '93) nor a headless, but it sure is tempting the more I look them up and watch videos like these. God I can't get over how beautiful that shade of red of the top is!!
Thank you Michael!! Kiesel makes some great stuff.. and dollar for dollar they are possibly the best value out there. They have a “guitars in stock” section if you want to buy one for a quick fix and try it out… from there custom shop is the way to go… same guitars and prices..(slightly discounted though).. but saves on the build wait time (12-16 weeks usually).
Thanks Skippi. You were eyeing this same axe? How cool!! The demo is still in the works. Meanwhile, maybe I'll break out the 7 string on my next live stream next week.. At least until I can finish the demo.
@@ShredGeek sweet! Guess I'll have to subscribe now. 😉 Looking forward to it. Yeah I'm actually looking towards a 7 string strandberg now that the Osiris is gone... There's just really none others that compare to your Osiris to me. PLUS I play in both seated positions and more so in classical which the Boden is more suited for. Still absolutely LOVE that Osiris though and can't wait to hear you play her! Also... Thanks for the reply and great to "meet" you.
Yes. The same. Pleasure to meet you as well. While you don't have to subscribe to watch the live stream I highly recommend it. This way you will receive notifications. On the Osiris.. you could custom order one with the options you like. But the Strandberg is a great guitar too. So subscribe already!! 😉
Thank you kindly!! My Carvin/Kiesel's are my favorite axes as well.. I should be doing a review and a pickup swap video on this guitar in the coming month or so.. Dropping some EMG's in her.. =)
I personally have never asked but they actually have counter sunk brass threaded inserts into recessed edge of the electronics cavity so you can remove and replace the screws a million times if needed without stripping out the wood. I suppose there’s less need to remove the term cavity cover so that one doesn’t have the inserts and isn’t recessed. I have a review for my Osiris 7 string.. I’ll try to remember to show all that. Thanks!!
Jon Pennebaker Hi Jon!! Thanks for commenting. Honestly, it doesn’t feel or sound any different from plain ebony that I can tell. But all my axes have different body woods which I’m sure would complicate any tone comparison in a “scientific” manner. I love the look of the Royal Ebony so it was on my list.
Have you attempted to restring this? I find that getting the ball end of the string to lock into to the saddles is extremely frustrating. I just cannot restring the guitar. Any tips? Perhaps a video of restringing it?
I have restrung it.. I do plan to do a video on "guitar prep" for recording which includes string changes, etc.. but haven't gotten around to it.. The TRICK is you "detune the string to loosen it out of the saddle.. then remove it from the bridge and then the nut.. WHEN you put in a new string the you have to enter THRU the bridge entry point (NOT over the top.. common mistake).. and insert the ball end into the saddle (it helps to PUSH the knob IN TOWARDS the body to move the saddle to the inner most part of the bridge.. INSERT the ball end into the cup inside the bridge .. and then PULL the string BACK.. and keep it under tension WHILE you INSERT the string thru the nut and lock it down.. (you don't HAVE to pull the saddle back.. but I found if I don't have it under tension then when I go to work the other end.. it will not stay in the little cup for the ball end. Once you have the string locked at the nut.. trim the extra string off .. then loosen it and move the string back in a bit more at the nut otherwise you'll have a sharp string end at the nut).. Then just tune your string as normal and move on.. Here's a great video that shows the process (until I can do a better one ;-)... th-cam.com/video/E1gpd6ahun4/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching and good luck.. let me know how it goes or if I can help further!!
Can you show the trem cavity and the wiring in the back of the guitar ?? Please I have been really interested in seeing what you could do in case of adjustments or blocking the trem and just inside of the wiring
Hi. Yes. I probably won't do a whole video but I wouldn't mind taking a few minutes during a livestream to show that. I might be able to take some high quality pics and post to my Instagram. If you HAVEN'T ordered the guitar yet you can order with a fixed bridge..
Peter Cruz I ordered a custom fixed bridge Zeus but I’m thinking that if the bridge isn’t a tedious to tune and adjust for the trem then I might bite the bullet on my next build
Peter Cruz also you might be the first one on the internet to show this because I was doing a mass research before I bought my kiesel in late December. I couldn’t find anything on the trem system’s adjustments and the wiring.
@@connorevs1315 Really? Hmmm thanks for telling me that. I had my Production meeting this morning.. but I might have to reconsider and do another video.. 🤔
Peter Cruz I really love the video I’m not trying to point out the flaws or anything I just wanted to know the true details the video actually was really good and made me hit the sub button and follow on Instagram
Hi Sunny!! Thanks for the comment! Yes!! I’m actually using it in studio working on one of the Movements for my title track Nova of my upcoming EP. Tuning stability is great and playability is as well. For a 7 string the neck is pretty narrow.. so strong spacing is tighter than other 7 strings. The Charvel 7string I did a video with has a much wider neck.. and has a different feel.. If I had to nitpick, I prefer the neck radius to be less than 20.. I find it too flat for me.. 14-16 is the sweet spot for me.
@@ShredGeek wow Peter thank you for your detailed reply!🙂 I am going to decide and put in my order with Kiesel today. I subbed to your channel and will def check out your music. ✌🤘✌🤘
Awesome!! Congrats on your future Kiesel!! I’m not much of a 7string player.. more comfortable on a 6 string but it takes some time.. 7string definitely jams for certain things though.. it’s a nice tool to have.. 👍 Let me know what you order!!
Very nice. So many of their GIS instruments are just painful to look at. I can't talk though, as I've had about 6 or 7 custom Kiesels/Carvins and not all of them were classy and conservative lol!
LOL!! Ha Nice!!! Yeah.. I can go either with a spartan utilitarian build.. or just go f'n hog wild and add all the crazy shinies to the guitar on a custom build.. This 7 string pretty much checked ALL the boxes I wanted for my next custom build.. so it was a MUST HAVE with the upside that I would have it in about 1 week rather than 2 months. =)

Killer guitar, thanks for the video, I enjoyed it a lot!
Thank you @mcrocklin. Now you need to get yourself a 7string Kiesel too. 👍
Congrats. I eyed it for 3 days. Fell in love. Went to buy it and it was gone.
Enjoy and looking forward to more videos of you playing.
Take care, M.

Sick guitar brother!!! i have 4 Keisel/Carvin's and they are my favorite guitars I own!!!

Thanks Jim. It’s a beauty for sure. I need to play her more.. but that sexy numbers guitar gets all the attention. 😂😂
why do they recess the control cavity cover but not the term cavity cover????? ty

What a looker! Does royal ebony feel like regular ebony? Smooth with few open grains?
