Nothing like Nightwish, & the one & only Floor! Troy was playing the Uillean pipes! Nightwish just did the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands yesterday, it was high energy, & so fun to watch. It is Floor’s home country, & they have just woken up to the treasure she is!
Hello Kelly. This is such a fun performance to watch (even though the lyrics are quite melancholic). Ever since this 2018 tour, Floor tries to get Emppu (guitar player) to dance during this song. He refuses every time and literally runs away from her. It always makes me laugh. By now, Floor is happy if she can get a mere armmovement out of him. 😄

Hey Martine!! Yes, this was SO much fun. It's impossible for me to not smile even though I know the lyrics are wistful but they just make me so happy!! That's too funny about Emppu running from Floor to keep from dancing. I can relate...I can't dance to save my soul and I'm dead clumsy.

Troy Donockley, 6th member of Nightwish and multi instrumentalist, is playing the Uilleann(elbow) pipes which are pumped under right elbow and bag squeezed under left arm, very tricky. He also plays various wind and string instruments in different songs.

Troy joined full time at the same time as Floor in late 2013 but had guested on some earlier albums. I don't always comment on them. Such as your Lovebites and Band Maid reactions. And ReVamp. LOL.

Troy is playing "Uilleann pipes" : Uilleann pipes are the characteristic national bagpipe of Ireland. Earlier known in English as "union pipes", their current name is a partial translation of the Irish language terms píobaí uilleann (literally, "pipes of the elbow"), from their method of inflation.
And,... as for the theme, well, it is part of the Imaginaerium album after all, so childhood memories are a part of it.

Hey Kelly, Meet multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley , playing the Uilleann(ill-en or ill-yen) pipes. They are the Irish version of bagpipes that uses a bellows squeezed with the elbow to inflate the bag. Uilleann is the Gealic word for 'elbow' You'll see him in other songs playing low and tin whistles, bouzouki, guitar with EBOW. If you can think of it, he can probably play it.
This is a very fun version of this song with Floor dancing all over, and that South American crowd. Floor wasn't 100% here either, she had been sick with the flu a show or 2 before this.
The song is a longing to feel emotions the way one did when they were young. As we get older ,the intensity of emotion can wane or disappear altogether. 🤘🤘

Gotta love Floor's outfit. Don't know if I like Tarja or Floor better. Both are great singers. Any time I see a crowd in South America the crowd is high energy. That is an easy one : The name "Nightwish" was derived from their first song together when the band was only composed of 3 elements(1996): Tuomas, Empuu and Tarja , The band soon picked up drummer Jukka Nevalainen(1997).And then bassist Sami Vänskä(1998) after the release of their debut album, Angels Fall First (1997) - the demo also included the song "The Forever Moments", and an early version of "Etiäinen". Hey Mark! Yeah that was one hell of an outfit and she looked GREAT in it. I've read here that she was recovering from the flu and it just blows my mind that she could still sing and dance around like that. I was just sayin to Alexander that I wanted to branch out and see performances by their other singers but I don't want to do songs that I've heard Floor do because even though I'd try not to, I'd be judging them against her and that's unfair.
Testament is recorded and I'm going on days off now so I'll be getting it edited for either tomorrow or Tuesday. I have a show scheduled for tomorrow but if I can get Testament done tonight when I get up, I'll post it instead. I'll also be recording the 2-fer of Far Beyond the Sun this weekend but it's going to take a while to edit it. Good question about the origin of their name.
