    Did you put fire bricks on the inside of the wood stove? Great job getting it cleaned up.

      @offgridchallenge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a solid cast iron wood stove, it doesn't require firebricks.

    i just got the exact same stove to put in my home, did the front screen end up being an issue?

      We have a video on refurbishing it, and another one on installing a piece of solid metal to replace the screen.

    That's a double-star stove. they were made in Taiwan in the 60's and 70's. watch them closely. they tend to over heat easily.

    I have this exact stove. It's the original one from the 1930s even. I found it online for 60 bucks!!! I traveled an hour and a half for it and was well worth the trip! I'm about half way done restoring it now. I love it and can't wait to finish it! Thanks for this video, it gave me motivation to get back to mine and get it done!
    Did you replace the mica plates or are you burning with just screen in place with open front?

      Hi, we have a video on replacing the screen as well 😀

      Do you know who manufactured this stove? It’s the exact one I’m looking for with side door and everything! ❤

      Not sure original. I do know there are some marked on back I think Korea or Taiwan that are not even close to the quality. You know you gave the original if there is no marking on back!

      Wouldn't have worked, too much surface rust for a simple polish.

    very cool. i have same stove. mine was made in taiwan. was yours ? iv been testing out lately and it leaks alot if smoke from the gaps and holes. i started sealing with stove cement. need to do more. that big hole on top left where the chrome top sits in is a huge hole and i don't understand how that hole is open and supposed to stay that way. slot of smoke comes out of it im thinking of cementing off but tgen i wont be able to use that topper

    • @offgridchallenge
      @offgridchallenge  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's the same one probably. Concerning the hole, we have a video on how I got around it, check it out!
