Pastor john, you explained this perfectly. You answered the question alright, i dont know why people in the comment section think you didn't, but you actually did. Based on your points, the audience should be able to judge for themselves how to discern tv shows and movies or works of visual art about Jesus, since not everything is about the Chosen; there are dozens of other works about Him, and I'm sure many more to come in this rapidly advancing digital age. Excellent, as always💯💯

I can't speak for anyone else's walk with Christ, of course, but I know the Lord made it very clear that such movies and TV, in particular, the Chosen, were not for me. I watched the entire first season and such clear conviction came on me that I did not go on past it. But that's just me and my story. I don't know why and I don't think I need to. I just know He said "No."

    • @rhiannancaraway
      @rhiannancaraway 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Rubes Ruiz The Lord DOES still speak to us though. Absolutely 100% scriptural. In that sense, we do "go beyond what's written" but what He speaks to us can always be verified by scripture and never contradicts it. If it does, it wasn't the Lord. He usually speaks to me and then gives me a scripture to look up and it 100% of the time explains exactly what He spoke to me.

@Rubes Ruiz If what He says aligns with His word, there is no deceit there. Only by the Spirit of God can anyone proclaim Jesus is Lord. So we can be assured if we are hearing the voice of God proclaiming His glory and leading us in the way of righteousness, we are not being deceived. I trust Him. I am not worried about my heart because He is so so trustworthy. Don't neglect listening for His still small voice within you for fear of being deceived. Just let Him train your ear. It's worth it. I've never been more alive and in love than I am when I hear His voice speaking to me in prayer.

I’m keeping faith but my situation is hard on me. I’m a single mother struggling to provide for my two autistic children both of my sons are non verbal. My husband passed away unexpectedly three years ago. I have no family nor friends. I’m all alone. I lost my job because I declined the vaccine. I declined due to my failing health. I suffered a heart attack over 6 months ago. I’m on a ton of medications warfarin and blood thinners are just a few. I’m also battling lupus, for almost 20 years of my life. I face so many challenges with Lupus joint pain out of nowhere, fevers and problems breathing are just a few of the issues I deal with on a daily basis because of my pre existing health conditions. I decline the vaccine. I have be struggling since. This month we are facing eviction. Because I’m having a hard time coming up with the rest of my rent. We have nowhere to go. I’m in constant fear. I have been put down and mocked over my circumstances. But this experience has brought me so much closer to God. This experience has given me strength. I have Faith God will provide abundantly for me and my children.

I was able to watch movies about Christ in the very beginning of my christian live but the more I read the bible and gained a greater knowledge of the Lord Christ, the less I was able to watch these movies. First of all, no one, no matter how talented an actor he is, cannot imitate the inward beauty of the living Christ. This may only lead to the worship of the creature instead of our creator who is blessed forever more!!

Purity is the problem for me while watching actors (merely humans) in representing Jesus the Christ. None can represent or display the purity of Jesus the Christ. And that missing element is in itself deceptive. But I think also that learning about Jesus the Christ is done in steps for most. If you know nothing of Jesus the Christ and get introduced by a film (or book, or story, etc) which seeks to share the Truth, than that is a good start. Nonbelievers learning from films is one thing, believers growing through films is another. Once The Lord is known than why would you go to a film to try to understand more - you know The Lord personally - go directly to GOD to learn more.

    • @Zz-lm1no
      @Zz-lm1no 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

None of us are pure other than grace working thru us.Paul said as much in 1 Corinthians 15:10.The same applies to actors(maybe a small number mind you) who surrender themselves to be used by the almighty, that is key, however,God can still use all hearts to fulfill his purposes.
We can never be a pure as Jesus but in working out our salvation in reverence and fear God can use those including Actors(believers) to reach others through their work

    • @williamcombscambodia
      @williamcombscambodia 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Kat. I'm glad you are wrestling with the issue. The first reply from Zz has an important point - we are purified by faith alone, in Christ alone, etc.
A couple thoughts for comparison. Re: "representing"
All anyone can do now is represent. As pastor John said in the podcast, he makes clear his sermon only represents Scripture, that his words aren't Scripture. Should he not preach since he isn't perfectly pure yet?
Second, in a similar way all foods are now clean (Mk 7:19, Acts 10 & 11, Rom 14:20), giving thanks as we partake of the good things God provides (often through sinners, like from a grocery store) purifies what is imperfect.
Last thought re: Zz's second reply: I too have resisted being free. Jn 8:36 and Gal 5:1 freedom is unnatural. We prefer rules to keep us safe. But fulness of feeling safe comes with fulness of freedom - knowing we are free of condemnation when we blow it.
Indeed may you find the freedom Christ died to give you.

"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
When a well packaged web of lies has been sold gradually through time to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.
It’s easier to fool people than it is to convince them that they have been fooled.
No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.
This truth will free you to seek for the Living God in the Spirit and to truly KNOW GOD instead of just knowing ABOUT HIM.
The GOSPEL is NOT written with ink, nor on tablets of stone, but on our hearts by the Spirit of the Living God.
The gentiles who have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, then they are a law unto themselves.
Under the New Covenant we are to be led by the Holy Spirit, not the bible.
I was searching for truth when Jesus told me, "The bible is an idol" which completely changed my direction. After that I only sought for Him in the Spirit and He has taught me many things on life's journey.
The most important of which is that He died so we could be regenerated by the Holy Spirit into sons and daughters of God.
The gospel is simple, repent from living after the flesh, ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit and then be led and controlled by Him through the Spirit.
The bible is only history and has absolutely no authority from God to control us, the outward law was under the old covenant. Jesus died to redeem us from the curse of the written law because we were unable to keep it.
Have a great journey through life with the Living Christ guiding you.
When Jesus words are written down and Satan is using them, then the bible becomes the word of Satan.
Constantine (1st) beast compiled 50 bibles, legalized Christianity and set up the false prophet (pope).
King James (2nd) beast, born 6/1566, 6th of Scotland, authorized a bible in 1611 that now has 66 books to control people with, an image of God's word they make to speak (the bible says).
By having faith in the bible which has been made into an idol, they break the new covenant of having faith in the Living Christ through the Holy Spirit, who is the true word of God.

No. Your poems are not the same as the Chosen or any other drama seeking to portray the life of Christ. The key text is Ex. 20:4. When Christians watch hours and hours of an actor depicting Christ, eventually, that is who Christ is to them. The writers can take as creative of a license as they want and people who are hooked on the show will go along for the ride. This is idolatry, and, even though I love you John Piper, I'm sickened at the politician's answer. Biblical metaphors written by inspiration are not the same as fiction filling in the blanks of the Scriptures.

This is the first APJ I have struggled with. I feel left wanting. There are so many problematic dramatizations. The problem is that scripture is delicious and always better than the creative diversions almost always taken by cinematic depictions. It robs scripture of its fullest experience. Also, so often dramatizations take liberty with tone and non-verbal communication that I think we can’t always discern. I stick to the Jesus Film and Gospel of John.

@@MrPatdeeee Respectfully sir, even Jesus affiliated with churches. He even told his apostles to make disciples all over the world. That sounds like a church to me, isn't it?
I understand sir that sometimes, maybe most of the time, spending time with other believers can be rather challenging. There are some people that are just different.
But the bible says - Hebrews 10:25, KJV: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
And even Apostle Paul said - "Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things." Romans 14:1
We are all the body of Christ, as Jesus himself has said. But fully rejecting communication with other believers on the church disregards what he has said. I understand if you're not joining any churches for the reason because you deem them worldly. But we should never judge those whose faith is weaker than ours, after all, we are all just servants serving God.

@@kraegermendoza5985 You said, "Respectfully sir, even Jesus affiliated with churches. He even told his apostles to make disciples all over the world. That sounds like a church to me, isn't it?"
Au Contraire kind Sir. For there would not be a single church until Jesus was ascended in to Heaven for 40 yrs. Thus He never affiliated with a single church. Sorry But true. And that church was at Ephesus; that Paul created. One of the 7 churches in Revelation.
"I understand sir that sometimes, maybe most of the time, spending time with other believers can be rather challenging. There are some people that are just different."
Jesus said that we were to leave any person, house or city; when they do not accept his message. And no one that I know has ever accepted my message.
"But the bible says - Hebrews 10:25, KJV: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
And sadly, Hebrews 10:26 also called Jesus a LIAR. When any one reads what Jesus said in Mark 3:28 and 29. Sad but true.
And Jesus called Mathew 1:1 a LIAR; when Jesus said in John 8:58 and Mathew 22:41-45. And Jesus also called Moses in Deuteronomy 24:1 a LIAR: when Jesus said in Mathew 19:3-8. And on and on an on all; through the bible. Sadly but very true...Bible scholars for centuries have known this. But preachers deny it to this day. How sad!
So Martin Luther in 1517 AD and Thomas Jefferson said; that Hebrews (which no one knows who wrote the book) was garbage and the RCC; should never have put it in any bible. I agree: for what it says in Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26 which both calls Jesus a LIAR. Because those verses are DEAD WRONG!
"And even Apostle Paul said - "Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things." Romans 14:1"
And Jesus said that we were to leave any person, house or city; when they do not accept his message. And no one that I know of; has ever accepted my message.
And MOST people has never accepted my message; in 84 yrs. Oh indeed. And I imagine you are going to do that too; for what I have said above. But I don't worry; because Jesus said...Luke 21:17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
Thus only 1% of Ju's believed Jesus' message; in over 2,000 yrs. So why should I want anything better? Huh?
Thus I live alone (with my caregiver) and we have Jesus..and there is NOTHING else we need. Praise Jesus' Holy Name.
"We are all the body of Christ, as Jesus himself has said. But fully rejecting communication with other believers on the church disregards what he has said. I understand if you're not joining any churches for the reason because you deem them worldly. But we should never judge those whose faith is weaker than ours, after all, we are all just servants serving God."
I do not judge. But I have been judged by many Christians all of my life and many TH-cam videos. Thus I shall obey Jesus when He said, that we were to leave any person, house or city; when they do not accept his message. And no one that I know has ever accepted my message. So Jesus said..
Matthew 10:15 I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that person, house or city. (who did not accept his message)
Now kind Sir; you have had your say. And I have had my say. Since we do not agree; 'tis best as Christians; IF we "Agree to Disagree"; and "Never the twain is to meet" again. So I leave you with this kind Sir...
May Jesus bless you and yours always. Amen!
