The amount of extra teams included cannot be overstated enough, it turns Blitz Bowl from a fun 2-faction game that is fairly repayable to a fantastic little box with an incredibly varied roster of teams. Even more so if you own season 1 or 2 as the extra boards also change up the positioning strategies. The Season 2 box included League rules too (rulebook should be available as a PDF) which me and my friends played through last year, 6 teams dishing it out over several matches. Pitting Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, Zombies, Beastmen and Elves together while laughing all the way through is one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. Winner even got a trophy we made.
For a hobbyist, best thing to do with the humans is remove the crest from all the non blitzer players and the spikes off the linemen push daggers and claws. That makes them look different enough at a glance for sure

Keep in mind, these games are designed as introductions to GW style tabletop games, which means some of the complexity (variety of skills) need to be limited.
Nice to see this get an outing. I've been playing Blood Bowl proper for about 30 years and it is super deep and strategic, but retains those moments of excitement and wackiness when the dice rolls go wild. Games Workshop's best ever game, and one of the best miniatures games ever.
This game looks really fun, we also have some of these small boxed games in the UK, but for some reason we don't have blitz bowl. I'd prefer to play a tighter, more focused version that standard blood bowl. Maybe one day I'll get to try it!
It's possible to just buy it imported from amazon. My friend did it for season 2 and in a couple of months once UE releases I'm sure you'll be able to do it for this version too

A bold move, considering their kind of outdated design philisophy. The only thing I would recommend is - paint the models! Showing a GW game with unpainted models is a bit like showcasing a PlayStation 5 game on a 13" monochrome screen from early 90's ;)

As someone who has played the original versions of Blitzbowl, I saw the objective cards and the new art and thought cool. But I prefer the old timed version, where you have only so much time to score and get points. Plus the old rules had you could run past people but they might (and likely would) hit you knocking the ball away. The other major change is that previously every model would move each turn, rather than having action points. This makes it feel like the whole team is charging forward, rather than just the ball carrier and their support. I’ll try a game, but I’m not expecting to replace my blitzball team. Also the video game is based on the original rules just to add confusion to people converting from that to the tabletop.
looks like an interesting game. I suspect there's few sports board games because most board game fans are geeks who are not into sports. I love both though!
Blitz bowl is the best boxed game Gw has made in the last decade.

The mechanics of Blitz Bowl actually derive from Dreadball, a non-GW game by Mantic Games, which was written by the same game designer.

Bloodbowl: Team Manager is also pretty good imo ! Maybe not the best deckbuilding deck, but it was very enjoyable.
