Blitzbowl is one of the best games that GW has put out in recent years, It's an absolute travesty that this is a barnes and noble exclusive as it's so goddamn good.
So glad to hear Joey and Alex enjoyed the game. As one of the people who got to help playtest this edition, it's great to hear that people are having fun with it. There were a couple of rules mistakes in the overview, but nothing that would prevent someone from enjoying the game.
two things 1) you can also get the game from Gamestop. For those of us in Canada. and 2) if you can get 1st and 2nd edition you will get 4 more teams and more pitches. I am picking my copy up tomorrow as it just dropped in Canada. Oh and by the way Gridiron was if I am not mistaken the original name for American Football. because it was in a grid patten originally.
yeah blood bowl is still going. And blitz bowl is a beautiful little small box cousin to bloodbowl. different engine that drives it and different gameplay focus, but great tactical play.
Blitz Bowl is a quick and dirty version of Blood Bowl, which itself is designed for league play. The idea is that you develop a team over a "season", gaining and losing players and training them over time. But even then, it's more about multiple games occurring at the same time than multiple coaches to a team. Realistically, there isn't enough to the game to justify having multiples anyhow, no more so than chess or checkers in any case. If you REALLY want to do a multiplayer game in this vein, I imagine that Dungeon Bowl would support it most easily, as it features a randomly generated board, so it wouldn't be a huge thing to add more end zones for more players. (I assume you'd need multiple sets of tiles for that though.)
Total honesty. Blitz Bowl...love it This review...meh, not so much . By and large I DO love The Dice Tower reviews but this one seemed somewhat clunky and didn't really do much for me
Oh heavens no, American football makes no sense, there's barely ANY foot-on-ball contact. A while ago a comic artist proffered the term "hand egg" and that makes FAR more sense. I own seasons 1 and 2 of Blitz Bowl, but haven't had occasion to unbox them yet. Can anyone tell me if there's anything in the Ultimate Edition to differentiate it other than the team mix being humans and skaven? The first two boxes were humans and orcs, and humans and dwarves, I do NOT need more humans, but if the game is different, I suppose I'd be obligated.
The ultimate edition rules and cards are the most refined and honed version yet, but i don't think it's something to get until you play with the season 2 rules and know that you like it!
Subtle rule changes that make a difference... ...there is only a +1/-1 modifier regardless of what the interferences are so a long obstructed throw is still only -1 You can foul players (could you foul in Season 1?) Cards have been tweaked and overall it has become a much more balanced game.

Great video! I am adding this to my short list of future aquisitions.

Love your energy and enthusiasm:)
It's a fantastic game and I'm glad you 2 enjoyed it!
Agreed , it is a great 2 player game. No warhammer or blood bowl experience required.
Anyone remember Blood Bowl?
My stepbrother owed it like 30 years ago have not seen it since.
Blood bowl is huge. The World Cup is this year
There’s also blood bowl 3 coming out on PC this February!

Gooooo Sports Ball!!! Do you think you could play this in teams? Or is it really only possible as a 2 player game?
You could do it, with teams deciding what to do but it would really slow the game down if teams argued amongst themselves.
