    A positive is that FTX respond well to criticism. For example, for the Rokatan, they've made the body posts thicker and stronger to stop them from breaking, which was a problem with the early ones (and they're sending me a conversion kit for free).🙂

      Don’t agree I have a perfectly good dr8 that blew its motor to pieces and they don’t care. I ain’t paying 100 for a new motor when it was less than a year old. Bearing failure. It now is a plant pot. I’ll stick with my ancient thunder tiger which honestly has never failed even when I jumped it into a lake running. Like modern cars modern RC cars are designed to fail so he company’s make money out of you. Or they create upgrades that make the situation worse.

    Fantastic bashing, Phil! 😃
    Another issue that unfortunately happens a lot with metal are bubbles during fabrication. And that creates a point of failure, really. 😕
    I remember reading about a wind generator in the UK that broke apart because of a screw that failed like that. (Many people speculated an UFO had collided with it and so on.)

    I've just bought one of these on back order. I bought it off the back of how impressed I was with the Tracer I got my lad for Christmas. That thing is immense with the optional oil shocks. Funny story, it has popped the RHR drive shaft out twice, both times at the skatepark landing on one wheel off a shallow jump. I think it's a case of abuse it at your peril, but I'm really looking forward to getting hold of this.

    One of the reasons they break not bend is they make them hard so they don't wear out but that makes them rigid. It's a balance point. I use a TON of carbide router bits and the fine grain makes them incredible sharp and hard, but they are also very fragile. Drop one and you have to chuck it in the bin because you've shattered one cutting edge.

    I'm very new to this hobby but I went down the TH-cam Rc car hole quite hard. One thing I honestly can't understand is why some people will actually pay hundreds of pounds on an Rc car and then purposely try to break it ? I understand that it's a durability test , which is awesome, but some youtubers are a tad on the silly side. If you sent a top end mountain bike down a set of steps and full speed , hit a wall or a lamppost, the bike and the rider are both going to break. It doesn't matter what it is , if you purposely abuse something, especially just to prove a point because it's a brand you don't like, you're getting the results you're looking for, the Rc breaking.
    This channel along with a few others do a good job of testing cars in a somewhat sensible manner, having fun like you're supposed to. Others on the other hand are teaching the younger audience that enjoy this hobbie, that it's OK to purposely smash something to bit's.
    I'm sure my comments and opinion on this matter won't go down with some people which is fine, but as a farther of 4, I teach my kids to have fun, love life, and respect their things.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very sensible to teach your kids that. I have no issues with how people want to treat their own RC Cars…. but sometimes you need to maybe think about your ‘influence’ on others. The other issue is manufacturers making ‘extreme’ RCs and showing them doing crazy stuff
