A break down of AO3's Numbers for 4:40 Hits: How many times the page has been loaded and read- Your 'view count' Kudos: amount of times a reader has 'liked' the fic. Bookmarks: People who have 'saved' or 'Subscribed' to a fic- essentially adding to their 'watch later' lists. Wordcount: Self explanatory. More notes on Ao3- The site isn't algorithm based- it's organized by tags- then generally by chronological order. Newest fics show up on 'front page' for only so long as they are fresh. Using tags means you can narrow down fics to specific 'plot' points. You can then order by the hits/Kudos/Wordcount- ectara.
Halloween Special Idea: Monster Character Ranking (what you’re ranking is up to you; fuckability, power level, accuracy to real life monsters, anything fr)
My fav anime Mandela Effect is Kirishima never calling Bakugou “Bakubro” and that it’s just a Headcannon thing. I’m not sure if it’s true and I’m too lazy to check.
Since you've asked for suggestions for the Halloween Special, go watch The Empire of Corpses. It's a 2015 animation movie, it's a horror. It's basically what if the British Empire developed and employed necromancy. There's more to it, but I don't want to give spoilers. About Rasengan Uzuhiko, the impression I got was not that it was a touch of death thing, but the "it stays with you forever as long as the planet is spinning" was kinda like radiation poisoning. It's like the thing has a half-life, but it's too long to ever disappear completely if Boruto doesn't rescind it. The concept of it being the "planet's chakra" sounded like senjutsu, though it wasn't, and the spiral aspect of it also reminded be of the bit of info from Minato's oneshot, that the Uzumaki's sealing jutsu were so powerful because they leveraged swirling currents. For new stuff, I'm interested in The Apothecary Diaries. Insane production value, a lot of court intrigue.
Danny says “I hate immortal characters in general” …… meanwhile wants ppl to watch undead unluck with Andy who is an “undead” so in his story universe he’s immortal….. Danny come on bro 🤦🏽♂️ 😂
Idk I kinda liked the whole explanation for choses weakness to water I found it really interesting but it might just be because I like medical stuff and I'm a cells at work fan lol
I'm currently reading the MHA manga as it comes out, if anyone's dropped the anime due to the drop in quality since the start of seasin five I'd definitely recommend giving the manga a try! It's a lot better paced and just feels like it has more personality, the art is AMAZING as well.
@AJ__525 Who said I don't? And who said bring complex automatically means being good? I'm talking about enjoyment, if your personality, fighting, aura etc feels boring or not as interesting as other characters presence, you become less enjoyable when you come on screen, if it was a side character, I wouldn't mind, but it's the protagonist in this case which means it negatively impacts his standing in the series. We are nearing the endgame a d he still hasn't established a presence, even if he does in this final fight, I think it's too late
I like how they explained the blood ability through narration instead of the actual characters telling their opponents their ability. I do agree that the author needs to explain things in a way the average person can understand.
okay everyone relax with the Danny jjk thing, people like and hate shit for no reason sometimes even though it doesn't make sense and that's normal, next here's a quick explanation of jjk power system (cursed energy: depression power)(cursed technique: weaponized depression)(domain expansion: sharing your depression with someone without consent) ( black flash: that weird happiness you get without knowing why) (binding vow: that promise you give yourself at 3am , break it depression gets worst, do it you Bank) lastly heavenly restriction: fucking parents expectations, anyways That was my rant in a comment section, love the podcast and remember people don't have to make sense which you probably know if you read this far.
I love Skypeia arc, while it's fallen in rank of my favorite arcs that's mainly just from other arcs coming since and being good. I don't think it drags, but it seems maybe a side effect of the catch up. Of this is in the way of getting to those more popular arcs, but maybe just watch it to get through it rather than look up arc rankings to justify disliking what you've only seen part of.
I agree with Danny about Shangra La. I think his point is misconstrued. It’s not like watching a stream, bc you watch the stream for the extra content from the streamer and often they’re either better than you, or providing commentary or something. This show is like watching a stream, but then being told to care about the characters in the video game that the streamer is playing. Like being emotionally invested in the streamers elden ring character’s health and well being and progression. Like the nobody is gonna care about the character itself. At least not compared to the streamer itself. But obv if you like the show, that’s totally fine 😂
I read MHA, I am really enjoying it, I haven't started JJk yet so i cant compair. I also love when we get villain focus in MHA and was sad it was not better received.
I was so excited about the deeper dive into the villains and unfortunately it fell flat whether it was handled badly or not well received. I thoroughly enjoyed it personally and wish it could’ve gone on longer.
I am right next to you, Nick, on the team of handsome, pretty straight men who everyone around them including family thought was gay resulting probably mostly from a massive amount of early and constant exposure to America's Next Top Model. As a kid, I would play legos in the room my sisters watched tv in constantly. Americas Next Top Model was aways on and part of my life. You are not alone. And that wardrobe makeover show.
If you haven’t read Ready Player One yet Nick (read the book, its almost nothing like the movie and way better) i think youd love it, the commentary on a society existing around full dive vr is very interesting
In honor of Danny thinking JJK was gonna be a form switching anime. A soundbit for tje board should be Danny yelling "It's TIME TO SU-SU-SU-SU-SU-KU-KU-KU-NAAAAAAA" Yugioh style. 😀
Regarding the MHA vs JJK conversation the reason MHA isn’t talked about as much currently is because I think so many more people watch the anime than read the manga compared and along with JJK currently airing, give it 2 more months and nobody will be talking about JJK again and once MHA comes back I think the conversation will pick back up
I don’t really get the slander for Danny’s opinion. From what I understand he *does* want an explanation for powers, he just doesn’t want them to get in the way of the fight or be over-explained so much that it gets too complicated. Another thing I see people arguing about but don’t get is that he likes Tanjiro but hates Yuuji. I don’t think it’s a matter of personality, as there’s a lot of things Tanjiro has in common with other people, but a matter of character development and complexity. For example, he likes it when Deku uses One for All in a versatile way and had to adjust to the struggle it brought or when Tanjiro combined water breathing and Hinokami Kagura in the Daki fight (as he made an entire video on it). Another thing is that he liked Tanjiro’s mental development and struggle, like how he became less empathetic when it came to fighting Daki and barely *tried* to understand her struggle. Unlike these two characters, Yuuji was great in the physical department right from the start of the show, as he fought a curse easily in season one and could generally control Sukuna when he possessed his body without much struggle. But I haven’t read the Jujutsu Kaiser manga and for all I know, Yuuji could be an extremely compelling character in the latest arc. These are just my thoughts.
Yuji gets a lot more character development this season and onward in my opinion hes better than tanjiro mainly because tanjiro seems so bland to me kind to everyone and hates muzan that what i mainly see in the anime and manga
The Shangri-La fight isn't supposed to have stakes, it's all just exposition. It's supposed to be intriguing and have you asking why is there this insanely strong monster that you can encounter randomly with unvideogamelike levels of AI. It's also suppose to show the abnormal level of skill the MC has, the fight sets you up to accept he is going to be killed in 5 seconds but then he holds out very long and 'unlocks' something new in the boss. But I get where Danny is coming from, if you don't give a shit about those things its not for you it's a preference thing. You'll only get hooked by Shangri-La if you find the world intriguing and want to learn more about it. In that regard its similar to One Piece to extent that a part of the intrigue of One Piece is that you just want to see more of the wacky islands, races and characters Oda has dreamed up (although One Piece has many other things that get you invested, don't stone me for saying that is all One Piece is about please😅)
1:21:08 as far as the anime, MHA lost me before I even got to MVA arc, the anime switched the order around and aired the arc that came out after mva in the manga before it in the anime
I think the Yuji fight was better than zero squad vs royal guard, and I’m a massive bleach fan. Personally I can’t wait to see Grimmjow make his appearance, that’ll be pretty hype for me as an anime only who hasn’t seen grimmjow in like 11 years except for when rewatching fights lol

also this is gonna be such a hot take but. idk this season of jjk's fights are just not doing it for me. the thing that i LOVED about jjk s1, adored more than any other part of the show, was the fights. yuuji/toudo vs hanami is one of my top 5 favorite anime fights. the choreography was so grounded in actual martial arts, the hits had so much actual weight to them, toudo's power was so simple but so well executed, everything was so good. but something happened this season with this new director that's messing with the fights for me. and I'm not an idiot, i know that on a technical level they're GORGEOUS and extremely ambitious with the animation styles they're using. but they're almost TOO ambitious. so much so that all of the fun animation tricks they're using are making them hard to follow. like Gojo vs Jogo/Hanami/Choso was impressive on a technical level but I was having time following everyone's movements. it felt like reading a manga action scene where you're not entirely sure who's doing what attack. the same thing started happening in yuuji vs choso. all the first person pov shots, the dutch angles, the zoomed in shots, i spend so much time thinking "what the fuck is going on!!!" that I'm being pulled out of the fight in a way i never was in season 1. maybe it's because the majority of these fights are happening INSIDE as opposed to outside in an open space, but the close-up shots especially are really fucking with my understanding of a fight. like whyyy are we so zoomed in on yuuji's FACE during what turns out to be a kick. it feels like people enjoyed the artsy-ness and ambitious animation in Chainsaw Man so jjk is trying to mimic that energy this season. which is fine, but not EVERY shot needs to be the most insane animation technique I've ever seen. sometimes a full-body shot of a kick is all you need to get your point across.
Literally first anime was princess mononoke and I was 5 when I seen it lol, literally first big tattoo on my arm as well! Y’all need to do a anime tattoo ranking skit!!! I’m down

I understand the thrombosis could be offputting but i also geel its partially needed because it tells ypu choso chose to risk it because he saw yuji as that much of a threat
A break down of AO3's Numbers for 4:40
Hits: How many times the page has been loaded and read- Your 'view count'
Kudos: amount of times a reader has 'liked' the fic.
Nick called Grey's Anatomy white women's One Piece. This is so accurate
You NEEED to have the bleach spiritual pressure sound as a sound byte. No one has done it on a pod.
1:17:20 This is so painful to watch 😭 (Her name was Himiko Toga)
Idk I kinda liked the whole explanation for choses weakness to water I found it really interesting but it might just be because I like medical stuff and I'm a cells at work fan lol
I'm currently reading the MHA manga as it comes out, if anyone's dropped the anime due to the drop in quality since the start of seasin five I'd definitely recommend giving the manga a try! It's a lot better paced and just feels like it has more personality, the art is AMAZING as well.
For the Halloween episode, watch “another” or “when they cry”
I will never understand the yuji hate, he's a literal cinnamon roll 😣💔
Because he is not interesting at all in comparison to other jjk characters
@@alialkuwari8155the characters you’re talking about aren’t as thematically complex as Yuuji. just say you don’t understand story writing
@@alialkuwari8155have you read the manga he gets way more development and that'll be shown later in this season
@KiyoKami_ yes I did, wouldn't be commenting on him until the jjk season ended. He peaks at the end with mahito and goes back to the shadows
I cannot believe we are already on episode 39 I remember watching the first 2 pods like it was a couple weeks ago
Frog type beat is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard
I watched Undead Unluck because of Danny and I’m so pumped
I started Paradox Live because of Danny and am considering Undead Unluck too.
I like how they explained the blood ability through narration instead of the actual characters telling their opponents their ability. I do agree that the author needs to explain things in a way the average person can understand.
This pod reminds me of me and my friend who nobody can follow along with all of our inside jokes and references 😂 love it, best pod
For Halloween, maybe you could make a tier list of horror movies you've both watched.
The scream I scrumpt when Nick mentioned the butthole guy.
Danny mentioning Endless Ocean was such a deep cut, those games were my entire childhood
I will purchase my first merch if there ends up being an “It’s Choppering Time!” Shirt
okay everyone relax with the Danny jjk thing, people like and hate shit for no reason sometimes even though it doesn't make sense and that's normal, next here's a quick explanation of jjk power system (cursed energy: depression power)(cursed technique: weaponized depression)(domain expansion: sharing your depression with someone without consent) ( black flash: that weird happiness you get without knowing why) (binding vow: that promise you give yourself at 3am , break it depression gets worst, do it you Bank) lastly heavenly restriction: fucking parents expectations, anyways That was my rant in a comment section, love the podcast and remember people don't have to make sense which you probably know if you read this far.
50:48 nick spittin cuz why does NOBODY talk about 86 is heat😭🤣
I read MHA, I am really enjoying it, I haven't started JJk yet so i cant compair. I also love when we get villain focus in MHA and was sad it was not better received.
You need to get on JJK stat, especially if you like MHA
Well it wasn't well received because of how terribly the anime handled it.
YES! Make a booktube channel together!
I wouldn't say that Chainsawman is going to end soon
but then again, no one can predict Fujimoto either lol
Lol when did Joe Rogan say gamers are losers? He's talked about his addiction to doom back in the day.
“You are a rambunctious baby” is wild
I feel like there is plenty of fun battle manga currently running, so there’s no real space for Kagura Bachi doesn’t stand out aside from the meme.
For a spooky movie, y'all should watch Blood: The Last Vampire. Late 90s early 00s, short, and pretty good
If you haven’t read Ready Player One yet Nick (read the book, its almost nothing like the movie and way better) i think youd love it, the commentary on a society existing around full dive vr is very interesting
In honor of Danny thinking JJK was gonna be a form switching anime. A soundbit for tje board should be Danny yelling "It's TIME TO SU-SU-SU-SU-SU-KU-KU-KU-NAAAAAAA" Yugioh style. 😀
Book series by Brandon Sanderson: mistborn series, Black prism series, Oath-bringer series
But Yuji is so cute tho..
everybody gangsta till the public speaking devil shows up
Regarding the MHA vs JJK conversation the reason MHA isn’t talked about as much currently is because I think so many more people watch the anime than read the manga compared and along with JJK currently airing, give it 2 more months and nobody will be talking about JJK again and once MHA comes back I think the conversation will pick back up
"no ones gonna watch an anime about a guy in their 30" I BEG TO DIFFER. cause the "chillin in my 30s" anime is amazing
1:30:07
1:34:43
Yuji gets a lot more character development this season and onward in my opinion hes better than tanjiro mainly because tanjiro seems so bland to me kind to everyone and hates muzan that what i mainly see in the anime and manga
@@KiyoKami_barely onwards
Just saying yall should watch the ghost stories dub as the Halloween special!
So all I heard from the cold open is that Danny likes fanfics about him and Nick wants some so congratulations I'm gonna write a Danny X Nick fanfic.
Nick: I haven't gone on the love letter spiel- *proceeds to go onto the love letter spiel*
1:21:08 as far as the anime, MHA lost me before I even got to MVA arc, the anime switched the order around and aired the arc that came out after mva in the manga before it in the anime
I think for the halloween special we need one of you two in a sexy succubus costume
HELP HIM READING THE DANPO FANFIC FOR THE COLD OPEN
Best underrated fight in anime. Luffy vs Usopp ❤
The best fight this year? I think zero squad vs the royal guard is also good, and the last 3 episodes of hidden inventory as well.
Don't let sakuga****s see this one lol
I think the Yuji fight was better than zero squad vs royal guard, and I’m a massive bleach fan. Personally I can’t wait to see Grimmjow make his appearance, that’ll be pretty hype for me as an anime only who hasn’t seen grimmjow in like 11 years except for when rewatching fights lol
Danny says the most insane shit lmao. i love this pod
At 28:53 confirms Danny x Ranpo
2:12:55 It's Liam Neeson that voices Fujimoto (the wizaddy) in Ponyo, not Willem Dafoe! Though that would be interesting to hear lol.
59:39 Zelda tears of the kingdom. Same reason as Nick’s was for GoW. Always had a PlayStation growing up and never got into zelda games. Heard about it a lot though lol
also this is gonna be such a hot take but. idk this season of jjk's fights are just not doing it for me. the thing that i LOVED about jjk s1, adored more than any other part of the show, was the fights. yuuji/toudo vs hanami is one of my top 5 favorite anime fights. the choreography was so grounded in actual martial arts, the hits had so much actual weight to them, toudo's power was so simple but so well executed, everything was so good. but something happened this season with this new director that's messing with the fights for me.
and I'm not an idiot, i know that on a technical level they're GORGEOUS and extremely ambitious with the animation styles they're using. but they're almost TOO ambitious. so much so that all of the fun animation tricks they're using are making them hard to follow. like Gojo vs Jogo/Hanami/Choso was impressive on a technical level but I was having time following everyone's movements. it felt like reading a manga action scene where you're not entirely sure who's doing what attack.
the same thing started happening in yuuji vs choso. all the first person pov shots, the dutch angles, the zoomed in shots, i spend so much time thinking "what the fuck is going on!!!" that I'm being pulled out of the fight in a way i never was in season 1. maybe it's because the majority of these fights are happening INSIDE as opposed to outside in an open space, but the close-up shots especially are really fucking with my understanding of a fight. like whyyy are we so zoomed in on yuuji's FACE during what turns out to be a kick.
it feels like people enjoyed the artsy-ness and ambitious animation in Chainsaw Man so jjk is trying to mimic that energy this season. which is fine, but not EVERY shot needs to be the most insane animation technique I've ever seen. sometimes a full-body shot of a kick is all you need to get your point across.
Danny I’m using that you fucking drill bit 😂😂
Literally first anime was princess mononoke and I was 5 when I seen it lol, literally first big tattoo on my arm as well! Y’all need to do a anime tattoo ranking skit!!! I’m down
Oda actually doesn’t show his face. There’s like one picture of the man, he doesn’t appear in person for anything either
One sound you need is the Fish from SpongeBob who yells “OH BROTHER THIS GUY STINKS!” Whenever someone makes a joke and it goes dead air
Choso Vs yuji has a "the raid" reference
It might just be the English dub, but Gaara in like the first scene he shows up, he uses sand coffin to wrap someone up in sand, then uses sand burial to crush him with the sand.
This is when Nick and Danny decide to make a manga
1:03:30 the reference was to the kitchen scene from Raid 2 witch is the best hand to hand combat scene in recent memory(the start of it is iconic)
uzuhiko is literally amaterasu or realm of drunken dreams its not unrealistic for someone in naruto /boruto to have
Watch some episodes of Another, Corpse Party or Elfen Lied for Halloween
Also my Biology Professor watches anime every night before bed and loves to tell me what new anime he has watched. He once started a conversation with "I watched the one called high school for the dead or something. That was fun." He is what I would call a average anime watcher but with some outrageous tastes.
When will Nick realize that 2 hour workouts just means you’re doing it wrong
how
Easily the best cold open💜 and am I the only one excited for Danny on the soundboard
