I shoot both ways...lately I've been shooting more instinctively and my accuracy and consistency is near to my aiming. I feel the more you practice the better you will get. You may never achieve the same level as aiming, but I know for a fact you can get better than 40%.
I think it's just all about what you practice .. I am thinking you mostly shoot aiming style .. therefore your instinctive shooting lacks.. correct me if I'm wrong?
"Obviously, aiming's more accurate because you have more consistency." Hmmm... well, that certainly seems true in your case - nice shooting, by the way, and I like your target setup - but I think it depends on the individual. I was doing my best to aim visually, and my shots were going everywhere. Then, out of frustration one day, I just started recklessly chucking shots at my target without bothering to aim. I was frustrated, I just wanted to do some damage. And guess what? Turned out, more of my "go to [bleep]" shots were finding the bulls-eye! I've pretty much given up on visual aiming ever since.
I only shoot instinctively. You're definitely right about aiming being more precise and instinctive being faster. A smaller fork definitely lends itself to instinctive shooting.
Aiming is always going to be a bit better. But not a whole lot better. Depends on what you practice. Instinctive shooting can still be really good. The human brain is capable of amazing things.
Both have pros and cons , instinctive were always work and good for short range, while aiming is for long range. It's like : Short range=short/instant analyzing Long range=long/takes time analyzing target.
Love your videos. Just ordered the Hathcock target Sniper. One question...did you design that ammo pouch? I've been looking for some patterns but none looked as practical as yours.
Thanks for the video. Off subject question: Bill I recently received the HTS. Can this be adapted to shoot arrows with any of your accessories? HTS,Within a few shots I was hitting what I was aiming. within a week 8 of ten consistently from 30 feet. I have had my wrist rocket for a year, never that consistent. Thanks.
I have had those wrist rockets and they are crap, even the rough tree branches are better, i think those slingshots are designed by people who dont even shoot
Lol also cool I happend to have my palm kinda cover the speaker on phone.. the bass of the impact feels like you shot the phone .. yall should try its weird
I guess I'm instinctive when I shoot. I feel like when I try and aim or think about it too much I miss like crazy but when I just snap shoot I tend to group better. I have aim shot before and do it occasionally but I feel more comfortable not aiming just like I do with my instinctive archery.
There is a method that uses both aiming and intuitive... it goes along the same concept as using only your front sight in CQB...If I used a cheek anchor I could show how to do it fairly well.
My main argument for this is if you have a consistent Slingshot that shoots the same spot same ammo etc.. then aim.. if you have a 5 10 dollar Walmart shot shooting random rocks .. instinct works better. Not as (sniper accurate ) but you'll get good groups with all ammo type
Good shooting when you are aiming, but in my opinion your instinctive shooting is more speed shooting. I bet, if you take your time in instinctive shooting by fixing the target, you will hit more marbles...
Instinctive is more about replication in your technique. If you position your stance, both arms and anchor point exactly the same every time, you'll be able to look only at the target and be accurate. You still have to take a couple practice shots to get on target which sucks for hunting unless you can get your game to sit still while you get ready. There's pro's & con's for both styles and clearly you have aiming down... nice shots!
To shoot instinctively you must practice instinctively. If you had a similarly trained instinctive shooter shooting in competition with an "aiming" shooter you would see very similar results between the two. Also saying your release can be from high, low or anywhere, that is WRONG. An instinctive shooter's form is essential, especially their anchor point and release. With all things being consistent, your brain becomes the "aiming" instrument, adjusting for all variables including distance, provided you practice at varied distances.
If you wanted this to be a fair comparison, identical balls, for both ways are a scientific must. It is quite obvious the first set were bigger...even though you said the reverse. You cannot judge the effectiveness, using different sized targets for each method. The results will be flawed.
Nice shooting Bill !!!!

I love the rooster sound effects in the background. Gives it that authentic country feel. Bravo. Good shooting, mate.
Those are probsbly his roosters in the background, not an effect
Bill, you are amazing! I love to watch you shoot. 😃

I find myself shooting more accurately without aiming.

I can't NOT aim. Great vid Bill. I'm not sure if folks realize how small those marbles are.
Nice Video Bill, thank you =)
good shooting as always and a nice clear scorpion
Thomas

Great shooting!
Another good video Bill!
Nice shooting as always 👍🏼
Are those targets glass marbles?

Skipper Rowe you may like a Rothco ammo wallet ( you may have one already ).
what was the wire mounted to your slingshot?

I do use a cheek anchor. So maybe that's what I'm doing. I approach shooting a slingshot from an archery mind set.
Very nice

Damn
You can do ot Bill you just need a little more practice.
Dgui
do you have a head
I cant hit a thing if I aim
What size ammo you shooting?
Aiming is great until you are doing the limbo in the bush shooting angles youve never shot before. I shoot both
Good shooting when you are aiming, but in my opinion your instinctive shooting is more speed shooting. I bet, if you take your time in instinctive shooting by fixing the target, you will hit more marbles...
Yeah but if I took more time, then I would use it to look at the forks and bands... then I'd be aiming!

Aiming always works better, coupled with many hours of practice.
Not true, both have their advantages and disadvantages
Inistinctive is 20%
40
not for me lol... :)
I'm nowhere as good as You.
But I am better in instincts than Yo
I began shooting when I first saw Mr. Rufus the bean shooter 10 years ago.
