I watched this twice in a row: once to admire his diction, even in a foreign language, although I'd have expected nothing less from him. And once to go back and read the subtitles. 🤣❤ He was a king. 🔥

As always, he speaks the truth with great clarity and imagination. Also one of the world's best writers, unfairly overlooked too often.

Also I don't know much about James Baldwin but he sounds like a good and wise man, does anyone know which of his books I should start with? I've been reading the histories by Herodotus, I've also been getting into classical literature and wish to explore more of ancient greek and roman philosophy.

If I may be honest mate I never understood the concept of White supremacy, why would I ever consider myself part of one "race" because of the colour of my skin? It's ridiculous, I've always considered myself Australian/American with a mix of European heritage. Regardless of whatever your skin colour is or what your ethnic background or religion we are all human beings trying to live our lives in this world that we call home. And no matter where you go there are good and bad people in the world. So if I may suggest instead of focusing on race or other petty nonsense we should strive to help our fellow man for the betterment of all of humanity. "All men are created equal." that's a motto that I'll follow till the day I die and the principles of democracy. Always keep an open mind, don't let politics or whatever cloud your judgement and always do what's right. Thank you for sharing this video mate and greetings from Australia.
As Kamala says, "you did not just fall out of a coconut tree. You exist in the context of that which came before you." White Supremacy is what grants you the label of American/Australian. Because in reality, you are neither of those things. Those who came before you commited genocide so you can enjoy what you enjoy. Whiteness is inescapable. You can be nice, civil and cordial in person but so we're many space owners, their kids and their grand kids. Your task may be to actually understand 2White Supremacy. Those who are not White have had to understand it, and more have died because of it.

It’s collectivism vs individualism. Whites are are in general inherently individualistic, other groups struggle with it. They’re projecting when they talk about whites because they’re assuming they’re basing everything off of a group racial identity.
It's not color it is culture, which is sometimes consonant with a skin color or ethnicity.
Cultures do differ. And yes, some are better than others. Individuals are equal, but cultures are not.

More like their biggest fears came true, finally someone came along that could articulate the subject matter in a way that could convince the most deeply racist person into thinking “hey maybe “I” have been the problem here.”

Moreover, Americans were never any more "anti-gay" nor "anti-black" than Europeans. They just didnt have any blacks! So the few that came over were exotics, like mascots. Look at Europe now that they are getting some real minorities for the first time. They are falling apart.

awful problems. In fact, black Americans are some of the richest, most privileged, most free people in world history.
Yes, there are a few people who are EVEN richer and more privileged, but you have a choice to see the glass 95% full or 5% empty.

Contrast his attitude to another poor boy from Harlem --- Professor Thomas Sowell, now 94.
Where is your proof that "black Americans are some of the richest, most privileged, most free people in world history." Until you can back your bold claim with pertinent statistics and other objective evidence (preferably from sources other than Sowell), I will remain a skeptic!
Why is it that the first thing you think when someone talks about their difficulty is "But other people have it just as bad or worse!" instead of listening to them honestly and fairly? If you believe this, you don't know what poverty in the rest of the world looks like and how similar the poverty of black Americans is to the worst parts of the world. A significant portion of black America lives in legitimate third-world conditions. And that's even worse precisely because they live in the richest country in the world. You have no clue how poverty works if you don't understand it's easier to be poor where everyone is poor than it is to be poor where your neighbors are rich. I grew up poor. My family never felt any of the economic crises of the early 21st century. The only thing the Great Recession and housing crisis of the 2000's caused was putting other people on our level. An economic downturn in the US doesn't hurt the poor anywhere as much as the well off, precisely because the poor are already poor.
And don't even bother pearl-clutching Sowell. Thomas Sowell literally sells a revisionist, short-sighted interpretation of the causes of poverty, relying on a convenient misinterpretation of statistics (in that regard, he's the Darrel Huff of race). In Sowell's world view, if the government built a road through your living room and then let live traffic run through it, it'd be your fault if you got run over because you shouldn't have stood in the road. If you asked the government to move the road they put there, he'd label you dysfunctionally lazy for not moving it yourself. If the government moved the road and destroyed your house in the process and then refused to rebuild it, he'd blame you for having asked the government to move it.
At least in the US, I think the indigenous people are the most hard done by.
No matter what you and others think about Black people in this country, we're not going make light of the horrible racism from whites that we've experienced in this country. And wet won't forget. The past and wrongs can't be erased by a few rich Black people. White people literally enslaved people to enrich themselves and because they thought, and still think, they're better than everyone else. That's their superiority/inferiority complex. Seriously disturbing.
