I've been following lectures about the TT of Love Fatuous love seems like lust. Passion is biological drive to reproduce. Passion often fades when a negative information is presented. Commitment is a conscious decision to inhibit negative reaction, delay self gratification and sacrifice self-interest. In Fatuous love, commitment reinforce passion thus stopping negative information from killing passion. Since intimacy is absent, the person who feel this often objectifying the other.

This isn’t culture based model. It works for all cultures. Imagine a culture where passion isn’t present for the guy or girl. That culture would cease to exist within one generation.

She did refer to passion as being physical. It's difficult to imagine physical passion that is non-sexual. Hugging and cuddling could possibly be passionate.
