Why hasn't it occurred to Tesla to engage Uber, Lyft, etc drivers for this? They are already on the road a lot with wide-ranging and real-world driving samples.

[Hhhmmm ...] Looking into using Cybertruck/extended-range as a emergency tow/charge vehicle for EV's in South Florida area. Does anyone know if EV's default to 'neutral'[N] once the battery dies(?) Once saw a totally bricked Tesla that couldn't even roll off the tow-truck for charging🤯 Couldn't even open the charge-port, fixed on Cybertruck[?], but also saw the workaround in the trunk space. Of course, conversion to a #CyberFood truck is another one of my whacky ideas that would certainly draw a crowd at events, or just at large Supercharger locations(...?) Just a thought🤔🤑

Looks like all of these jobs have already been cancelled - probably part of the Tesla job reductions.
To be fair to Sam this video is true - they are still hiring, whilst cutting a huge number of jobs in other areas. Of course if you look at the net effect , they are making massive layoffs and that’s not surprising given the current economic situation.

The future of FSD is integrating FSD into municipal transportation systems which will make automobile ownership optional in large cities, generating cost $savings across a large spectrum that exceeds the value of the FSD vehicles.
Costs that can be reduced or eliminated: traffic congestion, municipal traffic police, parking, insurance, maintenance and repairs, accident deaths and injuries, taxis, SMOG air pollution, noise, home deliveries at night when roads are not being used, FSD vehicle owners renting their vehicles when not in use, etc.

It's unfortunate that Tesla has announced 14K employee layoffs. 10%. They've laid off workers before, can't remember the %s back then. Smaller numbers, but Tesla was a smaller company then. Then we have this hiring of people, which I hadn't heard about until this video. Interesting.
The big bother for me is 2 excecutives leaving - one in particular - Drew Baglino, essentially, VP of batteries technology. I had him down as a probable future CEO of a Tesla company. I have been testing FSD in the US during the free trial in a HW4 equipped Model Y and generally it's been a positive experience, however it's still more a curiosity tool than a fully functional one. I have had to intervene twice when doing a U-Turn and a Left Turn across busy roads, it just wasn't up to those two tasks. FSD where you can relax and be confident of the vehicle doing its own thing successfully is coming, no doubt. So it's great that Tesla are the leaders in this field and I am sure they will crack this nut eventually!
It would be next to imposible to have this technology in the UK. with its web of roundabouts and very narrow B roads forinstance. There would need to be major changes and billions of sterling spent to the UKs road infrastructure in and out of towns and cities to make this tech. even close to being feasable.😮
I will not bet against Elon/Tesla, they will fight all the way to the end. I had a very small 10 person manufacturing business for 25 years and there are ALWAYS ways to improve the manufacturing process and cut costs. Tesla is very good at making the changes and they are very lucky that the rest of the automakers are NOT. Believe it or not Tesla's competition(Ford, GM, Stellantis, and some others) are incompetent.

If Tesla terminates just 2.5% of employees in Texas and California that's over 1,700 jobs gone. You seriously reckon Telstra will hire more than 116 prototype operators in each of the 15 test cities?
They probably will, or move some existing people into those jobs. Not at all surprised by the news - it’s clear growth has stalled and isn’t likely to pickup this year. Any company in this situation would have layoffs.

The era of early EV adaptors has drawn to a close, but that was an easy sell. Now EV manufacturers have to work hard to persuade the rest of us that we need to dump our ICE cars and buy EVs. But it’s not working, we’re not responding anything like the numbers predicted and sales yards are filling up with unsold EVs. The situation will eventually settle down over the next few years and we will have a mix of EV, hybrid and ICE vehicles on our roads. They each have a role and no particular type will dominate the market.
I expected full self driving to take longer most likely, but when it did it would be all at once. Have they solved it? I don’t know but sooner or later it will be solved.
Elephant in the room, love your channel, but aren’t you supposed to have shut it down? At least make a video addressing your video yesterday that you now put behind a pay wall that you would shut down the channel if Tesla was really laying people off, face it and get your credibility back!

Surely the EV enthusiasts out there can now see that this whole Electric Viking video series is the product of a professional production team engaged to advertise and promote EV’s, particularly Tesla. It’s not just a bloke sitting at home on a stool stitching all these clips together on a laptop.
Given the channel’s name, it’s hardly surprising he reports on EVs and batteries 🙄
He reports on ALL makes and has recently reported on VW and French EVs.

Everything from the videography, research, script, and editing is done by a small team of film makers. Other makes of EVs are occasionally discussed but the main purpose of this channel is the promotion of Tesla.

@@fredbloggs5902 You’ll have to fill me in on who these people are. I’ve not heard of them. But back to the videos. Some days he has churned out 6 videos of about 25 to 30 minutes each. To research the content, statistical data, do the B roll (stock footage of auto manufacturing processes (ShutterStock, etc) etc, break it all down into something comprehensible and attractive to viewers, write the script, edit the script, record Sam speaking with numerous unavoidable out takes, edit it all (his footage is colour graded too) and then check it for continuity, then finally download it… well.. in the film maker world it can take 1 to 10 days to produce a 30 minute short film. Sam is either in a studio or has converted a room at his home into one, no casting, no blocking, no rehearsals, permanent lighting and audio setup so there is a huge time saver there. But even with the fixed location and studio setup, each 30 minute Viking video is very detailed so would take at least 18 to 24 hours of production work. Yes, Sam could do all this on his own but you would be getting only one video every second day or so, not the 4, 5 and even sometimes 6 per day that he currently publishes.

There is a weighty issue here that has nothing to do with the embarrassing way that the Viking has painted himself into a corner. Is Elon off his rocker? The monomaniacal way that he is pursuing the nirvana of the self-driving robotaxi could end Tesla. FSD is decent enough as an adjunct to human control of a road going vehicle but the fulfilment of the goals of self-driving are a long way off for Tesla and others.
It wouldn't shock me to see an exodus of talented people from Tesla now that this overproof version of Elon is in control.
