    Wow, so glad I watched this video! I've had my B3350 for almost two years and decided that it was dumb not to get the backhoe at the same time. My backhoe will be picked up week after next and I can't wait to practice like this method. Honestly, I think you did pretty well with the practice. Thanks for taking the time and patience to show us this. I'll pray that you beat the cancer too. God bless.
    P.S. I'm a 63 yo woman who loves doing her own work. So you guys out there, if I can do it, so can you!

      that is awesome to hear this. I know this has helped me. I just seen some pictures in a thread that will interest you in our Kubota group on facebook. it shows a backhoe with a bent and broken hydraulic cylinder from trying to dig a small stump. I will try and post the link.

      Glad to hear it Steve! the backhoe is a great tool to have with your tractor and you will sure enjoy it! I have several videos on the backhoe use and safe practices to keep you from breaking the backhoe. yes you can break a backhoe relatively easy. you will find some very interesting tips and techniques to look for when operating so be sure when you have time to check those other backhoe videos out. additionally you will find some great information in regards to setting up three point implements as well and how to use them. my box blade video series and my brush hog video series are just two more of many video series that touch on techniques and set up to ensure you get the most out of your tractor. I truly appreciate you taking your time to watch my videos. if you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact me anytime and if I can help I most certainly will! peace love and respect Dave in Virginia

    Thank you again Dave. Just got my Kubota three days ago. I leveled a piled dirt, move some feed around, moved my chicken tractor, found where my ... toilet waste goes, pushed back some not so neighborly wild roses & played in the woods. Thanks for showing me how. Haven't used the back hoe yet. But, tomorrow I will. I am blessed to find you.

    Wasn't until I practiced this for a while did I realise how useful this is. When I started a real trench (ditch) I realised I had pretty reasonable control of the backhoe. Result was a pretty straight and level trench. Dave does know how!

      truly exciting to have a backhoe! I absolutely love this thing. I never stop finding reasons to use the backhoe. just treat it like you would any other tool and dont exceed its limitations. all the years I been running them I still find myself exceeding the limitations at times. I bent one cylinder on the hoe just about a month ago. replacement was 1500.00 expensive boo boo. just think of it like a shovel. you can dig up the world with a hand shovel but the minute you start using that shovel for a pry bar you will more likely break the handle. same can be said for backhoes excavators bull dozers they all have their limits. Im super excited for you brother! enjoy that hoe!

    Hi Dave. I bought my bh92. It's on my Kubota l4740 now. It was almost dark when the delivery guy showed up but I played with it for an hour. Your instruction was so very helpful. When I was remembering all your good instruction a though came to me and I truly said a prayer for you and your health. Try to keep the chin up and like many other people on here we know a great guy when we see one and we are truly hoping for your full recovery.

      Didn't take any pictures but I did a long drain today. About 4 hours of seat time. Was starting to get the hang of it. One thing the tires need some more air. They are low and really effect the handling when driving a bit faster on the road. I really enjoy using it. It is as much fun you can have with a tractor. and you can make such a nice job and get a lot of work done. Take care.

    I ran a backhoe after I graduated from high school. One of the 1st jobs. The boss was a jerk but I did learn a lot. In a few short weeks, I got so I could do anything that I needed to do with the backhoe. My primary job was running a dozer, but I got to bounce back and forth. Good job but a dirty one for sure. If I wasn't covered in dirt by the end of the day, I would be covered in grease. On a bad day, I would be covered in both.

    question for you Dave. To install My BH92 you do not have to take the lower lift arms off the 3 point hitch but it is recommended. I heard damage could be cause if you leave them on. Trying to assess is it worth take the lift arms off so trying to find out what kind of damage can be done and what action causes the damage ..etc.. mistakenly lifting the arms when the bh is on. Some arms got bent some how... was it that they got hooked on stumps? Hope you can shed some light.

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      one thing is it will strip the splines off the lifting shaft or the lower lift arms. this is an expensive fix! additionally the torque could crack the rear case of the tractor another expensive fix. I would definitely remove the lower lift arms. no big deal honestly after doing it three times removing and reinstalling you will see it only takes about 120 seconds to actually remove or replace the lower lift arms. on my model I believe you can NOT install the hoe with the arms on. it simply won't fit.

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      KIM JONES Kubota has a build your own website that will give a MSRP price on it. I bought. this one used an got a pretty good deal. however it won't cheap. these Kubota tractors have exceeded John Deere in build quality and they really hold their value well. a good priced / sized tractor close to this one is an L2501 it's a tad smaller an comes in at a great price compared to others in its class. adding a backhoe that is a factory backhoe new is about 8 thousand additional. some people like to take fancy vacations, smoke cigarettes, an drink heavily. drive a brand new truck or sports car. I'd rather have a tractor. the therapeutic advantages alone have been worth it to me. I enjoy doing things for neighbors and friends. having a tractor is one more tool I can use to help others. not to mention all the fun I've had making TH-cam videos if you can find a way to get a tractor loader backhoe I certainly say go for it as fast as you can. don't wait till your to old or to sick to enjoy it. I was recently diagnosed with cancer so I can only hope I will continue to be able to enjoy this tractor. life is short tractors are awesome!

    Love your video. This is the very thing I wanted to do on a CAT 420D several years ago since I have never operated a backhoe loader before. But the asshole told me to dig as deep as the boom would allow me. I sure didn't feel good about it despite him telling me that there were no pipes below the surface. Wouldn't you know it, I dug up an irrigation pipe and water came gushing out. He got a full of me over this because if that stupid idiot would had let me do what I wanted instead of trying to turn me into a construction worker in 6 hours there would not have been any problem. This idiot didn't even bother to call 811. I can see why his company isn't doing very good. Anyhow he apparently was impressed enough with the way I was operating that backhoe loader that he said he was going to buy it. He also gave me a compliment say "I can operator a backhoe loader than his workers". But I had a hard time dealing with his heavy handed tactics and talking on the cell phone.
    Damn, I only wanted to get the feel of a backhoe loader and just not do much of anything except maybe dig shallow trenches. Even to this day I am still upset with his stupidity and his wife isn't much smarter. I can write a book about how stupid those people were. BTW, I love your backhoe loader.

      Thanks for your kind words. Hate to disappoint you, but I'm a woman, LOL. Since then I did buy me a good used Terramite t5C. • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100PercentOS2 sorry for assuming you were a man. I have lots of woman who enjoy my videos and they are all great tractor operators. It's hard to install a level indicator on a backhoe as level does change with regard to Dipper or boom position.. I'm sure something could be figured out. Let me know what you come up with and how well it works. I do have a video showing a home made level indicator on my front end loader bucket. Thanks for dropping by my channel and sorry again about the confusion. Peace love and respect Dave in Virginia

    • @100PercentOS2
      @100PercentOS2 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only interested in a leveler for the front loader bucket and nothing else. As for the digger I can see everything I'm doing with it so it isn't necessary to try to put a leveler on it. In fact it never entered my mind. But the front loader bucket is a different story. I would love to see your leveler video. But I think I will have to go with my original idea of using the hydraulic cylinder located in the center that moves the bucket. And that is the only cylinder for the bucket unlike many of these compact backhoe loaders where there is a cylinder on each side that moves the bucket.

    When my father taught me he had move clods or rocks along the ground to learn to run a grade. Try digging at different angle
    pulling a rock along the ground swinging boom and pulling at same time. Try moving machine forward with the boom also try moving a rock or clod by pushing along the ground instead of pulling. Its to bad now days company's can't afford the expense of teaching people to operate machines.

    • @daveknowshow

      I been trying and I'm getting better and faster at digging. accuracy is still not there but that's mainly because I don't use the machine daily I think. its fun learning though. appreciate the ideas I will try all of them.

      ***** If you bury a couple plastic pipes cover the end and dig up to middle with the machine its good practice for crossing utility lines. I have worked with other operators that been digging for 30 plus years that weren't accurate at all close to building, people or utility's.

    All I saw was 6m of wasted fuel. Buy red fuel (no road taxes). You need 2 learn 2 scratch the ground. Stretch the boom out curl bucket so teeth dig in 1-2" then pull it to you. Repeat 2-3 times then drag bucket along filling the loose dirt into bucket. I am used to Case controls ie pedals swing boom L 2 R.

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Howard Fortyfive what a shame, sounds like you got nothing from this video. Off road fuel is sold ten miles from me if I'm close I buy it if not I don't worry over it. The purpose of this video is to teach new users how to get familiar with the controls with out disturbing the earth. The rest will come once this is learned. Nearly 200,000 people have watched this video and you are the first to be negative about it. This speaks volumes about this video. Perhaps you can be further disappointed by watching some of my many other tractor related videos. I'm still trying to figure out how non road tax fuel came into your comment as fuel was never mentioned nor a part of this specific video. Sorry you were disappointed with my video and it's advice to new users who never set foot on a backhoe. I do appreciate the comment and thanks for watching.

      daveknowshow Yeah Dave I'm with you. The whole idea as you explained was to do what you did in the video. Practice not digging. I thought you showed tremendous control of the boom and the bucket. Howard needs to make his own videos exercising his own opinions. Good Channel and keep it up.

    Always have your machine at full throttle push the teeth directly straight down into the dirt the pull back as you slowly curl the bucket seriously dude this shit is not hard I make 36 bucks an hour to do this all day

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      nothing is hard if you do it all day every day its second nature. this video is for people who never been in a tractor seat before. its not intended for a person who does this for a living. the first day you got in the seat I bet you knew exactly what to do and how with out any help or guidance from anyone. your special like that. I'm not, of course now that I have owned this tractor for a few years and even still do not do it every day I'm a lot better at operating it myself.

    • @pkrunner2959
      @pkrunner2959 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      daveknowshow you have a point but seriously take my advice and always run that thing full throttle whenever you are digging it won't hurt it to rev up but putting strain on the engine by not going full throttle will and don't post instructional videos if you don't know what you're doing go take a course with hands on training then come back and make this video again and rename this one how not to operate a backhoe

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      first it wont hurt anything to run at a lower rpm. when a new user is trying to get familiar with a new to them piece of equipment the lower rpm and lower noise level is more relaxing and less intimidating to users who are learning how to operate a new machine. lower rpm's and slower operation reduces the risk of accidental damage to property by new users. second it is recommended by certified instructors who know far more than you that new users should run equipment at a slower pace and at a lower rpm until they are more familiar with the controls and what they do. if you know so much about this subject I suggest you stop trolling, stop putting down what someone else is doing and start making your own videos. this video is labeled " beginner backhoe operating tips" it is for someone who has never been on or around a machine. you dont strap someone in a race car that never drove a race car and tell them to run it wide open from the start. when you first posted a comment I thought here is a guy who knows how to operate a hoe. now I can see you may know how to operate a hoe but you dont know jack about making videos to show people how to learn how to operate a hoe. you know nothing about teaching people who have never been on a tractor before.

      oh and please tell me how I'm straining the engine when clearly this video shows NO digging what so ever!

    • @pkrunner2959
      @pkrunner2959 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      daveknowshow your hydraulic pump takes power from your engine in order to operate moving the boom at low rpm puts excessive strain on the engine and causes it to wear prematurely that machine is meant to run at full throttle when operating the boom if you were just moving a small amount then it's fine but continued use like that isn't or when lifting any weight

    Thanks for the vid but need to find someone who already knows to teach.

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Ron Ididit some machines differ from others. some have foot controls some lever controls, some both, so other than safety information which can be found in many government instructional videos here on you tube this video is straight to the point. you must PRACTICE with YOUR machine. practicing the way I explained in the video will require you to use all necessary levers or controls to NOT hit the ground but stay with in 1 inch of the ground consistently through each stroke of the digging process. once you have that down then you will simply dig like that and add a swing of the boom to one side or the other to empty your bucket and return to the ditch area. both swinging the bucket to empty and to return require the same practice of moving the bucket, dipper, and boom arm all at the same time to save time and be more efficient. when you do all these movements at the same time you can run your engine speed at higher RPM'S but since you are doing multiple things at once all the jerky stuff will smooth out. so even though this video may seem to be lacking it truly is the BEST course of training for new operators as well as experienced operators. I personally dismissed what the guy told me at first but since then I have practiced this with out digging and also while digging. I can tell you with out doubt it was the best piece of advice I was given! the old man knew what he was talking about when he gave me this same simple answer when I asked him to teach me how he does it so smooth and accurately.
