There’s an honestly wonderful theory that the main inception wasn’t on Fischer at all, but rather on Cobb. Think about it. The entire time, Ariadne is guiding him through his own personal catharsis about his guilt over his wife, so he would let her go. Saito uses the phrase ‘take a leap of faith’ at the helicopter, long before he would have known anything about Mal, and it’s the same phrase Mal used before she jumped, so how could Saito know that phrase would be significant to Cobb and spur him on to take the job? It made him think about Mal, and his children, much like how Cobb was able to get Fischer to think about his father when he made sure the last thing Fischer would do before he fell asleep would be to toast his father and his accomplishments. Also, how did Arthur, who shows how competent he is throughout the entire movie, miss Fischer’s projections being trained? He is a professional pointman on this type of work, he would know to research it. No, these projections aren’t Fischer’s trained subconscious, it’s Cobb’s. He also said he didn’t want to know the specific layouts of the dreamscape because he could bring Mal in, but it could have been because if he saw the layouts, he would recognize that he planned this all, rather than him being guided through it. Also think of how chaotic and sloppy the entire job seemed, but it actually all could have been planned like that, to make Cobb fight through his issues rather than run from them. If you follow this theory, the person in charge of it could be Cobb’s father-in-law who actually taught Cobb his skills. He was the one who provided Ariadne, who became the main person to force Cobb to confront his demons. But that’s just an interesting theory and someone else already explained the whole ‘the ring is Cobb’s totem’ theory, which I think is way more plausible and applicable. Also some fun with the names: Ariadne is a Greek mythology figure who beat the Minotaur in a labyrinth. Fischer is the name of a famous chess master, a game that definitely applies to this movie. Yusef is a variation on Joseph, a Christian biblical prophet who is associated with dreams. Eames is the name of a famous designer, most well known for the chair named after him, an Eames chair. Also a fun final theory: Eames’ totem is perhaps one of the poker chips he was rubbing when Cobb first approached him in Mombasa, which would be a fitting pairing of totems with Arthur’s totem, a loaded die.
You can see the layers of the idea (forgiveness and letting go) being planted in Cobb as the movie progresses. Yes, this is the point - but we only know it in our subconscious.
Cobb's totam was never that spinning top, it was Mal's... Cobb's totem is his wedding ring, he only wears it when he's in a dream, and never has it on in the real world... And in the last scene he is Not wearing wedding ring... So end scene is real...
There's videos debunking this theory. I don't know why he would wear it in the dream either since it can be clearly seen by others, isn't the idea to keep it secret?
@@VColossalV Only he knows what it feels like on his finger, though. We see the chess piece, the top, and Arthur's loaded die, but only the owner knows the significance of each piece.
To further explain 1:03:54 the important thing to remember is that the sedation they are under in the plane has worn off at this point, which means all Cobb and Saito have to do at that point is die and they will wake up, just like how we see in the flashback with the train. So the tricky part isn't how to wake up but rather remembering you're in limbo after spending years down there.

_Why_ is he? That's the real question. I don't think it's fair to say he's all about the science, the 'science' in this is a complete MacGuffin, he doesn't talk about it, it is probably scientifically implausible - science to Nolan is a mere tool to get at the story he wants to tell - a tool he handles with the utmost care and he remembers to sharpen and oil before he puts it back in his tool chest, but a tool all the same. One thing that is true about Nolan, other than he likes to do things practically that others would do in CGI (though he certainly isn't afraid of CGI either) is that he likes to mess with time in varying ways in his movies. Which is the title of the music you were talking about that is near the end of the movie: Time. There's a great live performance of it that Zimmer did in Prague, worth a YT search.. I'd link it but YT will eat my comment in their infinite wisdom. 'zimmer time prague' is the search you are looking for. Nolan is a master of the dark art of gaslighting his audience, the only other writer/director who does it on his level is Sam Esmail; the other thing Nolan likes to do with his audience is do the thing that's the prime MacGuffin of the movie on his audience, in this case planting an idea in your brain - that Cobb may still be dreaming - that will fester and grow.. There is actually an answer to that one though which Nolan has talked about, which I won't say because it is _technically_ a spoiler. Others have mentioned The Prestige, definitely that, but also Tenet and Memento are his biggest ones, other than he's arguably most famous for the Dark Knight trilogy, which are the only Batman movies that really matter.. I know it's up to interpretation, but I think that Cobb was awake at the end of the film. In every other scene where he saw his kids, he didn't see their faces, but in the final scene he actually sees their faces, & they are wearing slightly different clothes compared to previous scenes. Additionally, someone once pointed out how Cobb actually has 2 ways to see if he's awake or not-his top & his wedding ring-& they explained that if you watch him he'll check both to know when he's awake.
Another thing to consider also is that he said that the spindle will never topple in the dream and at the end it seems to topple but doesn't show it. So I tjink it is reality.

actually After watching this movie several times I finally realized that whole story is a Mr.Cobbs dream, because of the totem. Moll got out and left her totem to him. Mr. Cobb at the beginning tells to Ariadne that you have to hold your own totem only for yourself so that you know that you are in check with reality. We never seen Cobbs totem in the story, also his children James and Philipa looks the same, with same clothes in every scene, Cobb stuck in a Limbo not Moll.

After many years of guessing the ending, it has finally been confirmed by Michael Caine in an interview, that Christopher Nolan told him that whenever he is in the scene, its reality.
I remember seeing this in cinema on my first date with my girlfriend when it was released and we both loved it and me and my girlfriend are still together
The point at the end is not that if it's real or not, which is the top fell or kept on spinning. The point is Cobb no longer cares if it was real or not, he just wanted his children. It is an open ending left for audience to interpret it the way they like it.
When I saw the film in the cinema, the audience did a kind of laola wave at the end. Afterwards I went to the cinema twice more to see it on the big screen. For me (personally) an almost perfect film.-

It showcases Leo's acting skills well and the ending will take you by surprise. This film is in the top 3 for me after Interstellar and Inception. thanks in advance😊
Thanks for being here buddy, what's the film btw ?
@@wadumin I think I forgot to say the name itself. "Shutter Island"
After many years of guessing the ending, it has finally been confirmed by Michael Caine in an interview, that Christopher Nolan told him that whenever he is in the scene, its reality.
Ooofff thank goodness

Mémento and The prestige are more mind fu** than inception (well i love every Nolan movie anyway 😂)
We'll definitely check them out ❤
The point at the end is not that if it's real or not, which is the top fell or kept on spinning. The point is Cobb no longer cares if it was real or not, he just wanted his children. It is an open ending left for audience to interpret it the way they like it.
True, i love that actually ❤
When I saw the film in the cinema, the audience did a kind of laola wave at the end. Afterwards I went to the cinema twice more to see it on the big screen. For me (personally) an almost perfect film.-
Oooof experiencing this in the cinema must've been INCREDIBLE, I'm jealous 😂❤
I recommend The Prestige by Christopher Nolan, greetings from Mexico
