    I went to a free seminar for this many, many years ago-(I think over 20), I made a vest pattern at the event, and I bought the system-then I just never did anything with it!!
    You have inspired me to dig it out and make something from their pattern book!! I have a ton of patterns in my book!
    Thank you, great video!

    I bought this 18 years ago and dug mine out of storage. You inspired me to try again. Your shorts came out great. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for all you do.

      You may want to study the clip where she's wearing the shorts again because they are not fitting her very well. Can't you see it riding up in the crotch area?

    Thanks for the Video. Just wanted to let you know, you have used the measuring tape wrong. The number of the cm are on the line. For instance 17 cm are on the line below and 17.5 cm are between 17 and 18 cm.

    I always photocopy the patterns and that way you stick the photocopy to the paper and your original pattern is not damaged.

    I just got the basic Lutterloh book/system, and #94 in your book is a totally different pattern in your book. I realize it’s now two years after you made this video, but I’d like to know how often they change the basic pattern collection. I’ve ordered the 2023 summer supplement after seeing someone preview it in a video.
    And I’m curious about whether you have used this system much since you made this video.

      My 94 is still shorts, but the whole pic looks like it could be an at home lounge outfit (has what appears to be a robe/long jacket)…but she’s holding a large purse… 🤦🏼‍♀️. Bought my system this past year (2023)

    This seems so perfect for someone like me who has no access to purchase patterns nearby (too rural). It would be nice if they offered a really small kit with just a pattern or two to test for fit before making a huge investment. Thanks for sharing these videos!

    I am interested in the golden rule but you didn't say anything which addresses alterations-full bust adjustment, cloth rise, sway back etc. Are adjustments addressed somewhere in the kit?

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are some adjustments that are addressed but as with any pattern, you’ll need to make adjustments to fit the uniqueness of your body.

  • @kerstinshadbolt1003
    @kerstinshadbolt1003 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Lindsey, thank you for this introduction and demo. For those of us who need 'standard' adaptations to every pattern, eg. sway back; forward shoulder - is there a way of drafting that into the template? If not, it seems there is nothing that allows for individual fit issues.

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. You’d make those alterations after you draw out the pattern.

  • @ritacamarsh2553
    @ritacamarsh2553 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Can you show us a pattern that has bust, waist and hip measurements. I think they might be more complicated.

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’m going to need some time to work my way up to that. But I’ll keep working with it and will attempt one soon. I think I’m going to do a basic top next.

    • @katyjudd1061
      @katyjudd1061 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This system only ever uses two measurements - bust and hip. You’ll use your bust measurement to mark dots on and above the waist on the pattern, and the hip measurement to mark dots below the waist.

    hi lindsay, thx for video. i quite enjoy this method. i have a lot of vintage patterns that are drafted this way...and no instruction to put together lol..good job demonstrating, ur muslin is pretty good too, easy to see where adjust is needed..i have difficulty with pants and shorts, i feel like my bottom half may be alien 😆 its out of my price range but def keep it on a wish list..tfs:)

    Thanks for the video. I wish you had talked about the final fit. It looked like the shorts didn’t fit you properly in the crotch area. Was this video sponsored?

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As noted in the description, the video is sponsored. Fitting pants/shorts for me is very difficult. Rarely do they ever fit perfectly right out of the gate. I mentioned that the make was just a Muslin and as with all new patterns tweeks will need to be made.

    Thanks for the video, quest. How do you know what fabric to use? I wish this system had smaller kit, as a trial, maybe 4 patterns, 2 shirts 2 pants/ with the rulers, and measuring tape. This way I can see if I want to invest $$ on the 280 pattern kit. I am a new sewer, I am afraid to spend $$, and not able to do use.

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would not recommend this for newer sewists actually. Unless you had some experiences drafting patterns already. Traditional pattern companies (watch my first impression Friday videos) will give you suggestions on which fabrics to use.

    Your shorts look great. Good fit! I've had this system since the early 1990's! I didn't use it for a number of years because there were no sewing instructions and I was intimidated. LOL I am much more comfortable with clothing construction now (many years later) so I do use my Lutterloh system. I actually have fabric on my cutting table right now waiting for me to cut a top from supplement #304. Thanks for the video. :) Pam

      @@InsidetheHem thanks so much for getting back to me. It seems like a good value if the garments come out looking good. They have been around a while I take it, and I trust you. It’s always nice to have options for all the parts of garments. Honestly, I more often than not change the sleeve neckline make a woven in a knit, I just get an idea and scour pattens etc to make my idea. This will be a valuable tool for me and hopefully help me with a better outcome overall. Things done always come out perfectly when I grab a sleeve and throw it on the wrong pattern for example haha. I know he basics of drafting and construction, but this seems worth investing in. Thanks again and your tutorial was really well done as usual😇🎯👌✅

  • @sewhappysarahr8912
    @sewhappysarahr8912 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hi Lindsey! This is an interesting system. I think the "metric" part of it might turn me off, my brain just has trouble translating that. Also, are you sure you are using that tape measure right? Aren't the large marks the full cm and the small marks the half cm? Not trying to sound witchy, because I love your content, and maybe I am wrong....but don't want you to use the wrong method if you are making something much more complicated. Please take this as love from a teacher....
