i came to this realization some years ago: we don't "belong" anywhere. anyone who claims a city or town as "theirs" lacks a sense of self & feels that their identity is tied to their location. don't worry (easier said than done) if you are open to where the wind blows, you'll end up in the right place & time. ♥️

So Mr. Sena I just made a video about this Just yesterday believe it or not and NO I'm not trying to promote myself. I'm 27 and I just feel left out from life. I feel like everyone is constantly living and being happy and I just feel like I'm on the outside watching everyone live. But you know what dude, I think it's the media. Tv, movies, music, are CONSTANTLY showing us(whether intentionally or unconsciously) how life should look like. That's ok you haven't found a job that you like yet, you're 28. I just went back to school and got a degree, but there were a lot of people who were also going back. I went to my local community college and there was an older gentleman who was doing the nursing program. He was over 65 bc he said he was past retirement age. To me that's inspiring. Your life may not look like everyone else's and that's ok. It just means that your authentic self is speaking and trying guide you in the way you should go. I love this video and appreciate you being open. As far as community goes, I genuinely feel too many people only want to befriend people of their own race which isn't bad, but don't close out opportunities to get to know other people outside of it too. Sometimes who you want may not look like you and that's ok. Friends come in all ages races and nationalities. I Love seeing videos like these

Hi Sena! New subscriber here. Your video showed up on my homepage and as someone who just turned 22 this year, I do have similar worries/concerns just like what you've mentioned. Watching this helped me reflect and clear my mind a bit. Thank you so much for sharing your concerns and talking about it. Hopefully things goes well and you'd figure them out, one thing at a time.

It seems to me that you are not a typical japanese, your strength is your command of English, you could exploit that ability in Japan, since I have found not many japanese speak fluently in English.

Many Japanese people with good English just end up working in the tourism industry. Unless you have a lot of skills outside of English you don't bring much to the table.

This was a very fascinating, honest, open and revelatory video from a young searching Japanese. Having had some different jobs in life in five different countries and travelled to 74 countries as well, it was a very interesting piece. I dont live in the country in which I was born, no. I neveer felt comfortable there but do feel so now in Europe and hav been for years but also I miss Asia so much. I go there often and will be back to visit one state next week. Life throws up choices and you have to grab them or it when they come or you may lose the opportunity. But each person will react in their own, unique way,. Thanks, arrigato, Much appeciated 😊😊

Hi, Sena, it was so good to see your video arrive among my notifications this morning. Your "thinking out loud" videos always strike a chord as you find topics that are common to us all, even though we may seldom give voice to them. Thanks for being willing to express your ideas and emotions in this video format. I'm confident you will find the right avenue to pursue. I hope you remain open to serendipity as that, at times, has proved to open doors for me that were least expected. Keep up the good work, all the best for you and Anna! 👍

Almost no one works their dream job. It is a means to afford pursuing your hobbies and living your life. You saying that you don’t have commitment issues because you’ve been going to the gym for 10 years is like me saying I don’t have commitment issues because I have been playing games for 10 years. These are hobbies and things that we enjoy. Jobs are a sacrifice we make to afford them. Just a different perspective. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts!

Hi Sena - it's always nice to see your video pop up. i've been subscribed forever. 👍🏼 I'm glad to hear you thinking out loud and sharing your concerns with us. They are all valid. As a much older man I remember these concerns but let me tell you they weren't resolved in my 20's. In my early 30's I began to settle in for a long and fruitful career in my dream job which was thousands of miles from my family. i made new friends which have become my "family" here because I don't see my siblings and their families now but maybe once a year if I'm lucky. All the best - everything will work out for you. Please give my best to Anna. Take care, my friend. ✌🏼

You create the life you want. You do not consume something made for you. You adapt to change. Kids are a great motivator for organizing and enjoying your life. Security has nothing to do with this but your commitment and the commitment of those you invite to your tribe are everything. Meeting other parents will help you qualify committed tribe members.

Boredom is a side effect of mastery, as far as your work is concerned. Moving up in the social hierarchy can be challenging, but rewarding. You just have to decide if it is worth it or not. Financials and family are tricky business indeed. You might have to run the numbers, and see if having a child is feasible/ wise at this time. You can postpone until you get a better job. And hopefully you can find a job that you both enjoy and can see yourself doing long term before you get stuck in a job you hate to support your family. Do your best, and hope for the best. Good luck to you! Take care! And have a great day!

@5:18 what about your family? If you move away, will you miss them? And there is no job on earth that one would enjoy 100%. As long as there is more positive than negative, and you focus on the positive, then it's ok. That's life.

"Where will I live for the rest of my life?" This is a question that never really occured to me. I have friends who've been in the same place for most of their lives - never thought that was odd, but it was never really for me. I've lived in many places - many countries - and am not intending to stay where I am now forever either. When I go to a new place it just takes me two or three days to begin to feel like I've always been there, to settle in and start thinking that it's my place. Maybe that's why the question doesn't concern me much. It isn't like i have a huge investment of time or effort in "belonging" to a place.

Many of us want to spend our lives doing things that bring us something other than money, and if you can do that without worrying about money, then that is ideal. That may mean making a contribution or finding enjoyment or satisfaction in some personal accomplishment. It's hard to say. But, the culture in many countries seems to link money with success: That is to say, if you have money, then you must be successful. And if you are successful then you must be happy. And this is where many of us just go wrong. I met a guy who said, "I spent my life working as a surgeon and I never really wanted to do that. I wanted to teach Latin and Greek. And now I feel like I should have followed my dream." He didn't say why he became a surgeon. I suspect it may have been to please someone else, a parent, grandparent, or just seeking approval of others.

Do a brain storming about things you like and don't like in life (places, areas, values etc.) to define what to do. I think it's more philosophical/spritual introspection to have that ll led to the type of life you really want to live, job is just one aspect of it, Gl xD

Being older, I see no issue with not having one long term job. Change is inevitable. Technology might sideline your career or even eliminate your your specialty, your field may be over saturated, economy may affect job prospects, etc. There are no guarantees in life, including how long you’re alive. Introverts tend to be more introspective and want deeper conversations. But, as an old introvert, I now just let it be. Or, at least I try, lol. I try to not give weight to my thoughts and feelings. Especially negative, complaining ones. I will now stop myself from adding fuel to the fire and let it die down. Of course, it will come back, but nipping it every time it comes up you get into the habit of shutting them down pretty fast. Sorry, now I’m rambling. Just … throw out the rules and really think about how you’d like to live your very short life.

Forget about Western countries, you won't have the luxury of not working for a year. High cost of living, high crime rates, differential treatments and anti-Asian sentiment everywhere just not a great combination for a stress free life. Plus your gf will most likely get ridiculed/shamed for dating an Asian man. And if you decide to have kids, know that mix race kids often gets bullied especially if they look more Asian.
We often like to fantasize how it nice to live in the west, but the reality is usually pretty disappointing. Travelling might be fun, but living in the west is total different story. Don't be like me looking for the perfect country for many years, only to realize, Asian belongs in Asia. We honestly don't get much respect in the west.

True and not true! Some white Americans/Aussies appreciate Vietnamese boat people in 70s 80s, who assimilated so well into those societies. There are doctors, engineers and lawyers within the first generations. The current Governor of South Australia is one of those Vietnamese boat people. I know what you're talking about as a Viet, who has lived in Australia for more than two decades. There are racists and hate and sometimes violence against Asian communities in Australia. Be that as it may, those are only in minority. Aussies, in general, are quite nice and generous as long as you're respectful. As Taylor Swift sings "Haters gonna hate hate hate".

    • @johnw1167
      @johnw1167 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@darkphoenix8350 Earning a good income or having a fancy job title doesn't mean Asian men are well respected within the western society.
Anglo-saxons will always have a superiority mindset over you. Even the Australian government is anti Asians, I went to highschool and Uni there, I know how the gov't & local feels about Asians. That's why I left. People are generally nice on the surface, but they don't really see you as a true Aussie and many have a dismissive and condescending attitude. It's hard to feel belonged when there's so much anti Asian sentiment and superiority mindset, even worse, if you are trying to date. Money isn't everything. Sure only a Minority are blatantly racist, but the covert racism really is everywhere. It's just a matter of if you want to see it or not. Plus AU obeys whatever America's political agenda, which is anti-Asians.
