Chat unironically arguing that you shouldn't be allowed to talk about stuff like this unless you want to press charges is insane...
thats actually wild wtf.

@rubylove9 Somehow I don't think there are too many lawyers in his chat... now sexually frustrated men who are willing to set aside morals for sex? That makes sense.
@@lorewx3it might be a backlash from Me Too, there were/are a lot of false allegations that Just are believed because
Hasan's audience works on emotions pure and simple. If that hadn't been the case hasan wouldn't even have an audience. As soon as the chat discovers a brain in their head they leave him.
To quote another comment from the Original video (Which is also quoted lol)

Big TH-camrs/Streamers try not to talk to minors: IMPOSSIBLE DIFFICULTY
*epic thumbnail*
real
Bro did more than talk
It's not a huge problem if they talk to minors, I was fans of adults when I was a child and would've loved to talk with them. The main problem comes down to they shouldn't be trying to faunacate the minor 😆
@@Jakey4000I'd argue they likely mean "talk to" as in a flirtatious sense, like "I've been talking to this girl lately," rather than just saying hi to a fan lmao.
I think people forget how old Cody is because of how young he looks and acts, it makes things hard to contextualize. Like a 25y/o could have their bachelors & masters degrees at the beginning of their career while a 17y/o hasn’t even graduated high school yet
Absolutely and if I remember correctly, Cody had already built an app and sold it by the time this happened. He’d literally already graduated college and career pivoted to youtube/vine and she hadn’t even graduated high school. Even more disgusting in that age and life context.
I've always found it off-putting that almost every major male streamer is a well-into-adulthood guy who just happens to look in their early 20s.
I’m 25 right now and I have no idea what could possibly possess someone to have any relations with a 17 year old. Like that’s disgusting that’s a CHILD
Thank you, that’s a great comparison

Yeah it's insane to let this stuff slide just since you don't like the victim. Are they gonna wait till they victimize someone they like? What an insane train of logic.
Right?? People need to realize there is no such thing as a “perfect” victim. Victim are humans just like everyone else. It shouldn’t matter if they are “likeable”
Yea like 2 chatters that successfully one man
I have not seen these comments in the chat. Every comment I’ve seen is complaining about how bad the chat is, but not a single one I’ve seen actually fits the description you are using.

@@wishzk There are always a couple of chatters saying some weird shit but I feel like when it comes to this there were more than usual. Nobody means the majority, let alone the entire chat ofc
We call those Graynames cause they ain't part of the chat/community
I hate that people are like "but she did this, she did that" bro doing other stuff doesn't cancel out Cody's crime against her. This is not a beef, or a debate, or a fight. This is a legitimate crime. Her attitude clearly shows that she only wants to confront her trauma and move on. I cannot believe people are angry at her for not suing him in the first place. This is a reaction that is obviously coming from a person who never had to deal with sexual trauma. As a woman who went through a very similar experience (except mine was not an influencer, just a random dude), it is a tough thing to deal with when you're a minor. Generally, people suppress that memory until they're at the age of realizing that they were assaulted. Then you have to work on that long-suppressed trauma and the damage it caused to your mental health. You suddenly question everything that happened to you in the last 10 years. It's a dark process to go through. I don't know Tana or any of her content and I'm not interested. Although I hope she goes through this with help and support.
Also, how could people be okay with Cody not saying anything about this? If I were Cody and this was not true, I would make a video about how disgusting these allegations are (forget about releasing a statement or an apology). I would confront Tana about her using my name in such a despicable crime. Instead, he decides to stay silent until the storm ends. Even this should be enough for us to cancel him.
well said!
Back as when I was 17, I had no difficulty dealing with such situations. I became friends with a 25 year old pal of mine. He and I were a bunch of going nerds. We were friends. Both of us guys were pals. There is nothing wrong with just being friends but it is a problem if advantage is taken.

When I was 16 a 23 year old tried to pursue me. I thought nothing of it, well except I knew he was older but I didn’t think of him as a weirdo. i think some women who watched cody could tell that he impersonated the frat boy a little too well not to be a frat boy. and we know how frat boys are enough to not trust the guy too much.
Me and my best friend used to put on his videos to watch/listen to while cooking and/or eating. I even remember talking to her about how easy he put on the frat boy persona. I also remember concluding that he must’ve grown out of that stage in his life because he called out similar behaviour in other men. That’s what his react content was about, right? Yeah, it’s been years since I even bothered putting him or Noel on as background noise, but we sure succeeded in ignoring the red flags, didn’t we?
@@fakenamebunchonumbers i honestly stopped watching him and noel because after i started uni i realized they kinda had shitty vibes but it was just a hunch
i didn't know for years that cody was a former frat boy and when i found out it left a bad taste in my mouth. i went to a college with a super heavy greek life culture and minimum 50% of those guys were purely in it for access to drunk women and a band of boys that would cover up their actions for them. most of them never outgrow the habit of abusing women and expecting it to fly under the radar. i'm disappointed that all this happened but not surprised.
He always gave me fucked vibes and hated when hasan watched him do SOY face reaction vids glad I was right
@@big_bird8597 idk what you mean by soy face reaction vids. if it's about him not acting/looking too masculine then this really isn't about that. it's about frat boys that exploit and harass women and cover it up among themselves.

People watching and not chatting, by definition, are not chatters.
I will never take for granted the fact that statutory rape was defined and explained to me and my class in high school. Romeo and Juliet laws too, but less so.
Same. Taught in legal studies class when I was 17. I ended up learning that a guy I hooked up with twice the year before was committing a crime (I was 16, he was 19). I didn’t know and didn’t understand why until it was explained to me, cos I literally had a teenager brain, like Tana did, we don’t know things cos we are literally kids. I wanted to be an adult so bad at that point. I imagine she did too.
you can tell by the many comments here that people don't understand these laws and might not have known about them at all. this should be taught in every school, so that minors can protect themselves.
now that i think about it, it absolutelt should be mandatory to teach this to high school aged kids, and to stress the reasons why it's inappropriate. the amount of teenagers, especially girls, that i knew in high school who were dating dudes 5-10 years older than them is genuinely so disturbing to think about
@@_letstartariotlook I have no interest in having sex with girls that are much younger than me but I don't understand the problem.
You are basically describing the most normal situation ever.
It sounds like you are blaming your partner for you both being horni.
Is it normal in America to undermine the sexuality of teenagers and make it out to be something offensive while fetishizing it at the same time?
@Flux_40absolutely wild thing to comment…. people aren’t upset that young people are having or wanting sex. It’s with what kind of person they choose that is the issue. The issue is legally the description of statutory r8pe…. I do not know why you decided that the mentality of a dog and the mentality of a human minor is equal or morally the same thing.

Yup, he's super protective of his brand and image and is probably afraid of the possibility of Tana ever bringing a civil case against him, so he will likely just stay silent about it. Its a shame but I dont think he will ever talk about it
I think that a lot of his adult audience isn't chronically online so they won't even hear about this
the “if she was 18 would it matter” and “what if it happened in a country where 17 is the age of consent” questions are ridiculous because YEAH it’s still creepy. when i was 19 i almost went home with a guy but late into the conversation he asked how old i was and realized i was 19. he was 28. he became extremely uncomfortable with the idea of taking me back to his place because of how young i was. he was really kind and apologetic and in hindsight i really appreciate this man and the fact that he stopped it from happening. i was probably a bit let down at the time but i look back at him fondly. shoutout random dude who realized he was much older than me and didn’t take advantage of it!

A man saying he doesn't get bad vibes from another man doesn't have any bearing on how women feel. Just because hasasn didn't "see it" doesn't mean that women weren't uncomfortable around cody
100%. friends of a creep aren't the target so they don't witness the looks, the touches, etc. people who have experience being creeped on/assaulted know what signs to look for. (i say people because men get assaulted too! it's easy to default to women but any SA victim can clock a creep real quick)

yeah. i think he might’ve just been saying people saying “oh i never liked him” doesn’t make other people stupid for not noticing
It's difficult telling people to ignore their perceptions of others. Most of the time it's all you really have to go off of.
I’m a man and got fucked vibes from the first video I saw of him clearly hiding stuff with his fake persona. Glad I never liked him and now feel vindicated all these years of telling hasan to not watch him. Mods permabanned me a month ago because I simply asked did you cover Cody ko yet? Perma banned still
I think Tana is a walking hot mess but that doesn’t mean it’s ok to just brush off her experiences. When are people going to wake up and realize that creeps often go after victims that are “messy”, have shit home lives, and are hard to believe? It gives them bonus points for plausible deniability. And let’s not forget that this happened when she was 17 and a ton of crazy shit that Tana did happened *after* so it stands to reason that her trauma contributed to her messy behavior. Not excusing what Tana did, but it would explain. Victims aren’t always little broken birds that just sit and cry in a corner. A lot of the time they move forward and sabotage their lives and others’ lives and become an even bigger pain in the ass. It doesn’t erase what was done to them, though. Brushing off what happened to Tana because she was annoying, or saying she should’ve come forward sooner or sued Cody or whatever continue to be part of the problem when it comes to our culture’s views on SA. She didn’t sue him because she was traumatized and wanted to move on, she didn’t sue because SA often doesn’t have compelling evidence and even when it does, many rapists walk free or the case gets lost with thousands of others in the system. She didn’t sue because it is extremely upsetting to know something happened to you and to be put on the stand and have someone in a suit argue that it didn’t and that you’re a liar for telling the truth. Chat do fucking better.
Really well said
Hmmm
I had a guy lie to me that he was 19 when he had just turned 20 and I was about to turn 15. He was popular in cosplay where I lived at the time, he'd sing on stage and was into screamo.
He did the illegal thing to me after driving 4 hours to my house and sneaking into my bedroom window.
It was normalized to me that I should look for older men, I was told to be flattered when old men followed me to the bathroom to tell me I was pretty.
I didn't want it to happen and said no many times. The statute has definitely run out but I still have the Facebook messages he would send me so I know it happened.

Justifying with the age of consent thing means that these men would go lower if the law permitted it. No morality found at all
As a black Australian… people most definitely were saying the N word in 2010 and even before that.
no yeah i called BS on that immediately bc i have seen some of the most vile old-school racism coming from the australian side of the internet
I think it depends on the area you are in and whatever media/shows the ppl around you watch. I didn’t know what the word was until i was like 13, my brother who went to a private school heard it all the time
@@tsukki9303 idk about that.. I lived in a regional town and went to private catholic schools.. so if I heard it then I reckon the vast majority of people did too. I still remember my older cousin listening to hip hop with the n word when I was in prep.

Would it theoretically have been ok in canada?

Annoys the fuck out of me how obsessed all the chatters were with pressing charges. Meant to be leftists but if the police aren’t involved we won’t believe a SA victim
i will say, a solid portion of the people encouraging pressing charges are saying to do so because they want cody to have repercussions. i can understand that. however there definitely are a ton of people who won’t take it seriously unless the cops are involved, so you’re right. but i just wanted to say that not everyone is recommending it for the wrong reasons. and i don’t think it has to do with being a leftist. it’s just about empathy
a significant portion of the population equates law with morality and will not pass judgment on a situation without a judge or jury's ruling on it. you can lay out the facts right in front of them but if someone with a badge or a gavel doesn't hold their hand and talk them through it barney style they will never listen.
Honestly! I was SAd as a child I wasn’t even old enough to know statute of limitations even existed let alone to understand what happened was a crime. Does that make my experience null? Brain dead take.

@@big_bird8597that's not what they're saying at all? they're saying that for an audience comprised largely of leftists, there's an uncomfortable amount of people on the left who refuse to acknowledge assault/rape/etc as legitimate unless there's some sort of legal documentation legitimizing the victim's claims. a chatter at the beginning of the video even said she should pursue legal action, otherwise it's just "online drama". it echoes the "if you were assaulted, why didn't you go to the police? where's the police report?" sentiment.

Tana's done a lot of growing in recent years and people need to cut her some slack.

No offensive to Hassan I agree 💯 with everything you said in this video, but the reason you didn’t know being Cody’s friend is because you a guy, he was never going to show his “creepy let me sleep with this 17 real quick” side
This is the reason women keep having these kinds of problems with men, because even the “good guys” don’t pay attention to their own friends behaviors.

Here’s my personal view on this whole thing. Hasan knew about this for a while and was going as far as to block comments telling him to speak on it months ago. He just used his coverage of Palestine as a way to say he was too busy to look into the Cody stuff, as if it wasnt a click away, and as if he didnt just cover Dr Disrespect. That’s gross of him. Hasan, like most people, does not want to out a friend of theirs if its avoidable. He likely presumed someone else would get to it, which they did. My problem is that he’s speaking on it at all, if he was gonna be silent then, stay silent now. He’s being a liar in this video, and I’ve caught him in a few before.
My point to your comment, was that if I have a friend who did something crazy, but I didn’t know about it, how would I “pay attention” to it? Your comment didn’t make any sense is all.
As far as the “boys club” thing, some of us actually do hold our friends accountable. If a girl tells me my friend did something, I’m looking into it. And even if the person is lying in the end, I’ll still never look at my friend the same way. I’ll always be watching them a little closer, and I won’t want them to be near any women I care about just in case. I’m currently in a situation where I found out something about a friend and the situation hasn’t fully played out, but if it proves to be true I’m done with them. Stop assuming everyone of any gender or race is the same, its just dumb.

Cody Ko has been my comfort watch for so long. Cody Trains inspired me to get back into running. I've spent countless hours listening to his podcasts and following his career and life, and listen to his music to an embarrassing extent. This is fucking devastating for me. I was honestly ready to possibly forgive him depending on how much personal growth his response would indicate, as I have forgiven Drew Gooden in the past after he apologized for his racist tweet. Cody's silence is deafening, but the absolute worst part of his reaction to the situation is CENSORING THE COMMENTS, LEAVING PEOPLE NO CHOICE BUT TO TALK SHIT IN KELSEY'S COMMENTS. I'm sick to my stomach.
you were willing to forgive a pedophile, and rapist... ? because he's your comfort youtuber.. ?
truly. I was a huge TMG fan up until earlier this year when ppl pointed out that Cody was still friends with that one guy. I felt I had to cut all of TMG out bc supporting it even a little bit still benefitted him monetarily. now with everything that's happened, I'm for sure a /former/ fan, and I'll never go back
Tana’s case is absolutely NOT against the statute of limitations. In Florida most normal crimes would’ve been surpassed their ability of pursuit but any crime committed by an ADULT against a MIMOR has no statute of limitations. I’m not sure that Tana Mongeau wants to press charges against Cody Ko, but she 100% has the ability if she wants to. More importantly, so do you! (This is only the law in Florida)
I believe this scenario happened in California but I could be wrong.

Regardless of age of consent why tf is a 25 year old man sleeping with a 17 year old, especially when he knew her age and knew it was a crime like its weird. Im nearly 25 and id find it hard to find any situation where you can even be friendly eith a 17 year old, maybe if irs like a work colleague or like a family friend, bc what do we have in common?
okay but why are we not also talking about JC Caylen? she literally said “shoutout Cody Ko, shoutout JC Caylen” after talking about hooking up with older guys when she was under age 😅
I think he was also talking about people like Drew Gooden and Danny G haven’t said anything yet. People he associated with.
I don’t think those two are even friends with him though. They’ve done collabs but I think their relationship is more like work colleagues than friends. Plus both of their content is less serious (if that makes sense) so seeing a video about Cody is kind of out of place for their channels. They could say something in community posts or on Twitter but they really have no obligation to - would be nice to see them go against Cody but I can understand why they might not want to be involved at all, the best they can do is to no longer involve themselves with the dude
I looked into it. If you look at Drew or Danny’s comments on their latest TH-cam videos it doesn’t sound like they have commented anywhere publicly yet and it’s being asked. For a lot of not chronically online people seeing a collab means they are friends, especially when some of those collabs have been in the last year. I have heard a couple TH-cam commenters today who don’t know them clump all together as a group (‘Cody Ko you know one of those OG vine guys with squeaky clean reputations like Danny and Drew). That’s paraphrased but it was that exact sentiment and names. They were grouped together. They gotta act.
This is really really unfortunate and I feel so bad for Tana right now. Victim blaming and shutting down claims is honestly the worst response to this situation and I can't believe so many people are willing to defend Cody. I was a fan of his content for a long time, but that doesn't mean I'm going to immediately jump to defend him in a situation like this. I truly hope this whole thing gets resolved and that Tana gets the closure and possible help that she needs.

There's literally no reason to trynto blame Tana for any of this. Like she's not a perfect victim but what does "perfect victim" even mean? She was a minor. He was not. That means, that is a crime. I for one believe that victims should be the ones to choose when they decide it is time for it to become public, if ever, or report it, if ever and not just because of my personal experience, although obviously that plays a big role in shaping my thoughts and ways at looking at these matters.
But nobody should be dictating to a victim how they choose to deal with it or when they choose to deal with it!

Let's be honest Tana was a pretty awful person, I have no idea what she's like right now but whatever your opinion of her is, what happened to her is not right and defending Cody Ko says a lot about you.
You should watch the episode of Fear& where she was a guest; she was so funny and git on with everyone even though she had no idea who Hasan was. She's not particularly problematic these days. I think she's been trying to be a better person for several years now, even the iDubbz drama was about him being mad at her for realising it was wrong to say the n word. But yeah even if she was irredeemably terrible it wouldn't make Cody's actions ok
What's crazy if he had just came out and owned up to this, defended Tana, talked candidly about the encounter and how it was consensual AND wrong/a mistake, he probably would have been totally fine. But turtling to this degree just trying to wait it out because he didn't want to hurt his brand is what ultimately will hurt him more because ANYTHING he says after this point is gonna be too little too late for most people.
This would work if Tana was his only victim, but she’s most likely not. People are now finding out about him dating other minors in the past, and it’s starting to look like a pattern of predatory behavior. If he admits that Tana’s claims are true, it makes other possible future allegations look much more likely to be true as well.
If she was 17 and this was in Florida, and he knew, she legally couldn't give consent, it doesn't matter what we think. In fact, it usually doesn't even matter if he didn't know.
The problem is by definition, the encounter cannot be consensual.
Absolutely nothing is going to come of this tho

bro even if cody addresses it i dont think he could ever “change,” nor will i ever forgive him. like i understand what hasan said about how everyone has a chance to become better but cody was literally a full grown adult with a fully developed brain when he did this, so i genuinely dont see how he could change himself. AND the fact that hes friends with a literal rapist to this day???? yeah no he hasnt changed a bit and no amount of apologies (if he ever even addresses it in the first place) could ever fix this.
It's insane to me that I am only hearing about this now. I was a fan of Tana and Kody, and even followed Gabby for a while. Never heard ANYTHING about this. But that is mostly because I do not go on celebrity/influencer content outside of YT. Reddit, Twitter, Podcasts, etc I ignore because it's boring so I miss a lot of stuff.
Well lets not chop up Tanas racism to just saying the “n word”…not only has she said the n word multiple times, shes said the hard r, she called Imari her slaved and mocked how she would whip, beat and torture him in his slave house…referred to him as the hard r and others…

I've been watching cody ko and tmg since high school and I'm about to graduate college. It makes me sick to my stomach that he would do something like that then go on to try and hide it and then do commentary videos where he watches the same kind of situation and say, "what would someone of the age gap even have in common." Like i truly believed he was a better person than that and i can't in good conscience continue to consume cody's, noel's, or ANYONE involved in tmg's media if their not gonna even address it after years of this being out. Even though i love tmg to death i believe in trusting the accuser and the amount of evidence against cody is something i just can't ignore. I wanted to think she was lying or that it wasn't a big deal bc she was almost 18, but i cannot excuse that behavior. Because at the end of the day how did a 25 year old man have any business sleeping with an underage girl EIGHT YEARS HIS JUNIOR?
Cut contact with a friend because of this. He was 24, dating (and sleeping with) a 17-year-old girl. This is legal in my country so there wasn’t anything I could do. I don’t know if they’re still together but I hope she finds a boyfriend in her age group.

I remember hearing about this before his wedding but i never heard the ages. It is absolutely revolting that hes trying to cover it up and look like a good person to his viewers when its clear he cannot give less of a shit about his female fans or audience in a whole.
I hate that chat is saying that she shouldn’t talk about it because it’s in the past and she doesn’t want to press charges. It’s an insane take. I think she should talk about it, so if there are any other victims they can feel free to speak up. The victim blaming is crazy. Also being friends with an alleged rapist is crazy too.
I do think the whole “she’s so unlikeable” kind of attitude isn’t necessarily true nowadays, but Cody’s fans are using this as one of their main defenses which unfortunately is the truth.
The worst thing about this is the people saying she's lying because she did lie in the past. Like what would she actually gain from this if that was really a lie ?????
