Great job Layla, but ClickUp can not handle a on-going conversation. When someone respond to your message made from inside the task, this answer is being shown inside the task (thats great), but also creates a new task with the same input along with it (not ok). I'm shocked that clickup team don't want to sit on this matter even there are couple of thousands people waiting for it...
I don't know how I'm just now seeing this but the timing was perfect! Thank you for all of your wisdom Layla. You have made this an even bigger game changer :)

Huge thanks Layla! I was researching for hours how to make the ClickUp Outlook integration to work, but I couldn't find any solution, I was getting really frustrated tbh. Have you achieve inbox 0 by using ClickUp? Did you gain a silly wizard hat in the process? I hope so! Some well-defined forwards can be a huge time-saver whether you're using ClickUp for personal use or for your team.
Rewatched this one again and decided to also forward invoices from main companies into their own lists in clickup. I'm still testing out the process before I automatically delete the emails. For now, I'm also just copying them into their own folders in Postbox (my email client). If nothing else, the notifications will remind me to deal with them right away and force me into a morning clickup routine. We'll see how it goes.
Your example was "from" doesn't work with "to" because it forwards every single message that arrives in the inbox. In my case I ended up with 139 open tasks in a matter of hours. Reason being is all the spam and sales emails that land in my inbox. But I also get support requests and inquiries in the same inbox. ------ Update, it was my mistake, it does work, I had accidentally left forwarding on in Gmail settings, and that started pushing every single thing into clickup. The automation does NOT need for forwarding to be set as ON in Gmail, the email filter takes care of the forwarding.
Hey Mario! When you're setting up your filter, make sure you have some pretty specific criteria. For example, "Only forward emails from myself" was my example here. You might instead have "Only forward emails I star" or "Only forward emails from @myclient.com" or so on. I wouldn't recommend forwarding ALL emails because, yes, it'd become a bit hectic!
going to try this to get to inbox zero. email to task anything important and maybe email to comment for all the ones I need to unsubscribe from. currently approaching 1300 unread emails 😫
Sunday night I realized this was a feature; monday morning I am already using and loving it. I am sending emails (ex: to a customer) that need to be followed-up using the BCC function to send this as a task on Clickup.
Another great video Layla. While, as a retail store, we don't need to deal with large clients, we do get a lot of new release information from manufacturers that generally gets deleted by me as I don't have time to even think about it. Sometimes I forward it to other full time staff and sometimes not. This might be a good way to set up a repository of these emails so that they can be checked out by others. It's not really different than setting up a filter and saving it as a folder in a mail program but not everyone has access. Thank you.

Hey Azizul! Interesting question! To clarify, would you like to forward an email thread into a ClickUp task? If so, the answer is yes. You can open up the "send email to task" option from a task. You find this by clicking on the ellipses. This creates a unique "task email address" that can be used to forward your external emails to ClickUp. The forwarded emails will populate inside of the task.
Hello Layla, regarding email forwarding to clickup, is it possible to disable the email attachment that is loaded? Our clickup is currently full storage capacity and deleting stuff apparently doesn’t work (clickup bug). Creating tasks is, according to clickup, unlimited so i want to try and see if i can disable the email attachments and keep on loading tasks this way. If not i’m gonna have to code something, or if you know another way to freely automate this process it would be helpful :)
Great Video Layla! But is there a way to manage email thread in a single task? because when someone replies back to the same thread it is creating a new task instead of populating all the communication in this thread under the same task.
Hey Ankit! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 Good question! Yes, the send task to email feature also works with Outlook. Copy the unique Task or List address and paste it in the 'To' box. Emails will funnel into the ClickUp List or Tasks!
Hi, I have 1 query. In case where we send an email to client from clickup but the client instead of replying to that email, starts another email chain. How to add that in the clickup task. If you go inside the "..." settings in a particular task, you can find the Task-specific email address. If you use THIS email address, it'll add Comments to an existing Task. (Meanwhile, the List Email Address creates new tasks.)

Hi - The "List Email Address" isn't showing in my List view, like it is in yours - has this process changed or is it part of a different package? Thank you
Hey Edward! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 To locate your Email to the List address, click on the ellipses of the List name from the sidebar. This will show you the unique List Email Address.
Vert useful, thank you! Do you know if there is a way to set the status of the task when forwarding the email? I know I can set tags, which could be a workaround, but maybe you know whether status works too?
There's probably a few workarounds that could suffice using your ClickUp automations here (if you're still wondering). If you want your forwarded emails to go to one main list, you could set an automation in that list like "when a task is created and it has a specific tag" - change the status to _____. Another option could be more time consuming, but this may work in a situation where an email gets auto-forwarded and you're unable to set a tag through the subject line like you can when you manually forward an email. You could have all of the emails forwarded to an "inbox" list of sorts, then set up an automation in that list to say something like "when a task is created, add a specific tag, change the status, assign it to a specific person. Any of those or all of those and more. If you'd like those tasks to exist on multiple lists, Layla has a video all about that, but I'd suggest setting up a separate automation for this "when one or all of your "prerequisites" are fulfilled (tag added, status changed, assigned to "x", etc), then add this task to ____ list. Hope this helps!
Hey Christoph! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 Great question! I tested this by creating an automation to update the status when a task was created. Hey Payman! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 Great question! If you only want to create a link to a specific email in a task, you can attach the email to the task using the Chrome Extension tool. The email will populate in the task as an attachment file.
I set up rules in Outlook to forward things to ClickUp but the emails keep bouncing back. Has anyone else encountered this? And, better yet, has anyone else figured out how to fix this?
Hey Rachel! Just getting caught on comments🙈 Good question! I'm not sure what is causing the emails to bounce back. Are you using the unique "send to email" task address? In the meantime, I do know that using Zapier, it's possible to have emails sent to ClickUp. You choose a trigger from Outlook to perform an action in ClickUp.
Hi, there! Yes, there is something like this. You can use the send email to task feature in the task view. This generates a unique email address for the task. Copy the link and then go into your email inbox. Paste the unique task email into the recipient field. You can forward your email with attachments into a task. The email will populate inside the task as a comment, and any attachments in the email will show up the attachment section. You can find more information here: help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/12664128434583-Add-emails-to-tasks

This is probably on the gsuite side, but i have one particular account that wont accept the task email as a legitimate email
That’s strange. Have you tried manually entering it as a Contact?
@@LaylaPomper It finally just accepted it, very strange.
tnx
Hey Joyse! I'm happy to help :)
I set up rules in Outlook to forward things to ClickUp but the emails keep bouncing back. Has anyone else encountered this? And, better yet, has anyone else figured out how to fix this?
Hey Rachel! Just getting caught on comments🙈
Good question!
I'm not sure what is causing the emails to bounce back. Are you using the unique "send to email" task address?
In the meantime, I do know that using Zapier, it's possible to have emails sent to ClickUp. You choose a trigger from Outlook to perform an action in ClickUp.
Who downvotes these vids, really? Lmao.
Ty for the guide :)
🤣 Just so happy to help!

Do the red line breaks in your TH-cam video for each topic happen automatically by YT or do you have to insert them?
We add the chapters so it’s easier for you to skim ☺️
Can you send the email to a task so it becomes a SUBTASK or an ATTACHMENT?
