    What a bummer to be turned back like that. Not much you can do when you're (off-camera) threatened with fines and even then, the road was apparently closed due to flood damage anyway...
    What's the worst backtrack you've ever had to do?

      @Velo-Obscura I don't remember ever coming across a similar situation.

    Dave I'm so sorry old mate, I and probably everyone else watching, get so engrossed in yours and Bonnie's video's that we forget to "Like" before on moving to the next one. I'll back track and do likes on all the one's I've been watching. Thanks for reminding me mate, your doing an absolute Bonzer job on putting them together, very inspiring in deed. Unfortunately I had a stroke recently which is putting a big drain on funds other wise I'd like be a patron for you. All the very best in Health, Wealth and Happiness from Phnom Penh Cambodia. 👍👍🙏

      That's alright, Col!
      No need to go back and click all the videos you've already been through - but I really appreciate you being willing to do that!
      Sorry to hear about your stroke, mate. I hope you're recovering well and don't worry about Patreon. It's really amazing to us that people like the videos so much that they're willing to financially contribute, but it isn't mandatory! I had the idea to film and edit these videos long before I ever dreamed of having Patreon supporters and would continue to make them either way.
      Thanks so much for your kind words. We're stoked that you're enjoying the videos so much. Hopefully we will see you in Cambodia one day.
      Speedy recovery, my friend!

    The shark and ray rehabilitation center was cool. I visited a sea turtle center like that in south Texas and it's great people spend the time to help injured sea life that way. Wow, what a washout in the road. Don't you absolutely hate having to backtrack when you're making miles. At least you didn't get a citation. Great episode. Atb, Tony ✌

      Thanks a lot, Tony!
      Yeah! We really enjoyed the Shark and Ray Centre. Super cool of the owner to let us camp there too!
      The backtrack was frustrating at the time, but I suppose it could be worse! At leat we didn't get fined!

    Hey! We love your videos! Stumbled scross EP61 and then went back and have spent the last couple of weeks watching your whole journey.
    Also finding your strava really interesting as well. Thanks heaps for sharing this experience with everyone. It's amazing!

    What a bummer that the ferry was closed.

    • @VeloObscura
      @VeloObscura  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it turns out that we weren't going to get the ferry anyway - I was really confused when he mentioned it.
      He wouldn't let us through anyway though due to flooding on the track we were taking.

    Love watching your vids! Fully subscribed :-)
    Can't wait to see your adventures as you head north, especially FNQ!

      Thank-you so much! It means the world to us to get such amazing feedback!
      You a resident of FNQ?

    • @DarnsParns
      @DarnsParns 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VeloObscura no, not a resident. We were in Cairns in Feb and hired a couple of dodgy bikes to get around town. Great cycling infrastructure. Port Douglas is even better. But it was soooooo hot! Reckon you two will be fine, as it will be winter there, which I've heard is perfect in FNQ

      Ah, gotcha. Yeah, quite the difference in climate from Tassie! 😅

    The Fernleigh Track is awesome. It was a great way to get from Newy to The Central Coast.

      Yeah, we liked it a lot. I rode it a couple of times while we were in Newcastle. Pretty awesome way to get around!

    Another great vid, Dave & Bonnie! You could have included lots more footage while on the ferry to (I think) Salamander Bay; the little you showed was enthralling! Bad luck about the 'about face' sections but floods will cause that - as per the big washaway. When I was a rep in the bike game, I fell in love with Nelson Bay, when I entered the town via the road that is right next to the water. I thought it was just perfection. Looking forward to your next one..... PS: I have actually started back on the bike! I'm going at it fairly easily, as you would expect after 2 months off, which reminds me that I meant to ask whether you found it difficult to get the legs moving again, after a week off in Newcastle?

    • @VeloObscura
      @VeloObscura  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Brian!
      It's a beautiful area, isn't it?
      Yeah, it was a shame we got turned around, but I suppose it could've been worse. The area we got turned around I'm had loads of really nice looking campsites with decent looking facilities and great views.
      That's great that you've been on the bike again!
      There's always a bit of "lag" in getting the legs moving again, but it wasn't too bad after a week. I spent half of our time off cycling all over Newcastle though.... Haha
