I was sceptical at first, but I am lovi g this game. There is lots of exploration and the puzzles are very tolerable and the harder ones are optional (unlike Crosscode eg) The controls are not super tight, but luckily there is not a lot pixel perfect twitchy reflex gameplay. The difficulty settings are very welcome since some mechanics were just infuriating (attacks costing energy..) I love the atmosphere and the story is intriguing.

It was meant to come out before this game, but they decided to use the progress of the sequel to make a remaster and postpone the sequel until the studio finishes a different project to avoid burnout

@@rompevuevitos222 Are they still making games? I remember hearing not long after the accessibility patch came out that the main creator became very frustrated with the game having terrible sales and getting almost no attention among the gaming community, so he basically decided to call it quits.
I mean, I would be thrilled to hear that either that wasn't true or that he reconsidered? I do see the Steam reviews are "very positive" so it looks like maybe the Steam release helped get the game more recognition. It probably also helped that the patch was out by that time, because when the game initially came out on Switch most of the early adopters ended up being turned off by the "figure it out yourself" nature of the game. Thus, not enough of those early adopters started recommending the game through word of mouth or anything (which the game depended on due to lack of marketing via being an indie game). The accessibility patch helps to put some ease to the player so that they can at least feel a little more comfortable trying to delve into the world and figure things out.

I it's like crosscode but side scrolling, is there rpg elements?

This game despite all it's flaws is fantastic fun. Unless your lacking abit in the head then maybe this game will be a little too frustrating for you.

The combat mechanics in general even by using the "cheats" is just very annoying and that makes it very unpleasant, had to quit it after doing the trials of ouroboros just couldn't be bothered.

Whats the difference between this and Phoenotopia Awakening that was released on the Switch in August of 2020 (that is still sitting unplayed on mine after grabbing it in a sale before Christmas)

Murno is correct, tho I would only add that Switch version previously was updated to include accessibility options for players to make easier/more forgiving, as mentioned in the video. This was not included in original Switch release, and was later patched in. PC is sure to have this patch included as well. Worth noting if someone played on Switch at release and thought it was a bit too hard, as the options now do make MUCH more forgiving. This and Batbarian were my personal hidden gems of the year for 2020, hands down!
