Haws is a 6'4" guard from Lone Peak HS in Highland, Utah. Lone Peak was ranked #1 in the nation by Max Preps until last week (and they are a public school). He is a junior this season and has committed to BYU (along with 2 senior on the same team, 6'2" G Nick Emert and 6'9" PF Erik Mika).
Lone Peak is in Highland, UT. Highland Utah is in the middle of Salt Lake City and Provo. SLC has about 190,000 people and Provo has about 115,000 people. Highland Utah only has about 17,000 people but kids move down there all around the Wasatch Front. The Wasatch Front is from Ogden UT to Provo UT about 100 miles and an average of 5 miles wide. Along its length, the Wasatch Front never exceeds a width of approximately 18 miles. Theres about 2.2 Million people who lives along it thats 80% of UT
I went to this school. It's in Highland, UT. It's not that small of a town. It's also just a public High School. People started moving there to have their kids play sports, it's sort of become the dominant school in the state for HS. All I can say is, go BYU!
Wow, here's just a bit of friendly advice, do some research before commenting. First of all the tournament that this footage was taken from is considered to be the best of its kind in the nation and had five or six of the top ten teams in the nation at that time. It was as "real" as competition gets. Secondly, while he isn't ranked in the top 25 but only ranked 39th by ESPN, he is still a part of the current national championship squad.
The nice thing to see in these highlights is that Hawes doesn't look afraid to take on brothers from other schools who are obviously bigger and stronger than him. Most white American kids, especially from almost exclusively white schools (like I assume he comes from in Utah) tend to get intimidated as soon as they play against black teams. They're given messages like "play within yourself" and "don't try to force things" and their passivity means they're even more likely to be eaten alive. That's why most of the white guys in the NBA are from Europe. If you come from Serbia or Croatia or other parts of Eastern Europe you've already been through tougher things than almost any American kid has whatever race or background.
In this brief video he showcased the ability to pass, shoot, make fundamental triple-threat moves, and make crafty moves in tight spaces. I don't understand why his color has to be mentioned; his skills are all that is relevant.
you have no idea what you are talking about... I'm not saying this kid is the next steve nash but he'll be in college for 4 years or so. Have you seen his brother play? He's one of the top scorers in the country & i have heard TJ is better than his brother is RIGHT NOW. Unlikely, but at BYU he will not be able to do anything but play ball & study. College training will greatly improve his athleticism as he looks like he has not hit the weight yet. Kid could get a lot better in a short time.
His brother, Tyler Haws, is a sophomore at BYU and is the 10th leading scorer in the nation.....personally, I don't think this Haws is as good as that Haws, but he'll be a player for sure.
also a lot of former BYU players move there because it a nice town with lots of rich people The Avg. income per household of Highland Utah is about $82,000
Does anybody knw anything about this school ? I read it's in a small ass town. Do they recruit players on the DL. I don't get it It's one of the craziest things I've seen in high school basketball
no man jasons right this guys playing people that arent exactly competition i mean these people that hes playing with are guys that jump for all kinds of pump fakes making it easier for him to get to the basket
Mormons lowkey nice
that squad is dope as hell. wish i could watch all their games
Future great coach calling it right now
That move at the end was sick! he caught me with it
Played against Emery and Hawes a couple times in high school....too good to describe!
I like how some of you are shitting on him for not being the typical definition of athletic but he's going to BYU, the fuck you doin'?
Oh like most keyboard warriors do. Nothing bro absolutely nothing.... -__-
Thank you Marty for giving us Tyler...and now TJ. Your boys can play !!
Dude got mad skills, hope he becomes a great player one day.

last move was damn nice !
That last clip they showed was against Monteverde, one of the highest ranked high schools in the country, with players like Kasey Hill.
I played against him last year, and he is so crazily good.
Lol, its TJ Haws*. He's committed to BYU once he gets back from his mission. And his team won a state title this year.

This gives me hope
I've seen him play in person. He's the real deal.
i LOVE THE LAST PLAY FROM HIM! :d
Actually, this is one of the better ones i've seen.
Daing that fake at the end was sick. Dude's got some skills for sure
At :46 why is there 4 people on the ground
Are you watching the right video? Do you not see the way the backspin snaps the net up on his jumpers? Just had to get your Scal reference in I guess.
Is That The Guy Kasey Hill Flexed On ??????
My new favorite player!!
his brother plays at BYU and hes from the area. the #1 PG in the 2014 class is going to SMU and no one bats an eye.

How you know? You had a hand in creating him?
Pure talent
keep up the good work boy
A lot of these highlights are against Montverde who was stacked last year. He deserves some credit.
he carries the ball every time he crosses over.
can someone tell me why there are so many people on the ground at 0:46 ?

is this a high school team??
ginger respect bruh
this is probably the first video i've seen including an all-white high school team.
The last play was tuff

Number 1 team in the nation.
Is Mormon, already committed to BYU where his dad played, and brother currently plays....his brother has a shot at the NBA first round in two years.
He has been commuted to BYU since he was a freshman!
to all the people who think this is weak... these guys were ranked the number 1 team in the nation
chris71388 That would be so awesome, but how do you know?
1:06 best move ! Love it
He's playing against Casey Hill! Don't say the competition is bad! It's the best!
This is my favorite player right now. I hope they don't put handcuffs on him @ BYU.
that fake pass on the last play was pretty dope
“This game has always been - and will always be - about buckets.”
would that be because he is in high school?
How tall is he?
What grade
he is nice. what impresses me is that he is fundamentally sound
Anybody know what socks he has on 0:22
Great fundamental basketball player that doesn't have to be flashy to get the job done
I think he might be referring to Scal aka The White Mamba
was thinking that, but he creates more off the dribble and seems to have more range... But Luke was a Killer tho!!!
his jumpshot has absolutely no spin on it LOL. its like hes throwing a knuckleball. Scal has taught him well.
i see some steve nash in his game
wtf happened at 0:46??
Most of this was at a tournament with top players in the nation like Jahil Okafor and Andrew Wiggins, so get you're facts right.
TJ Haws Is cold
also a lot of former BYU players move there because it a nice town with lots of rich people The Avg. income per household of Highland Utah is about $82,000
That last play>>>
The White Mamba is sick.!!!
good thing the game the video is from is full of top 25 HS players in the world
gotta admit, that last clip of the fake pass was pretty sick lol.
Word on the street is that number five is still looking for the ball...
yo, he's the next professor!
That last play was T raw.
can he play D though thts all i want to knw
TJ and Nick Emery were the truth back then
Does anybody knw anything about this school ? I read it's in a small ass town. Do they recruit players on the DL. I don't get it It's one of the craziest things I've seen in high school basketball
Kobe is the true mamba
I don't see why he gets so much hate?
No, no one can replace brian scalabrine
WHAT ABOUT BRIAN ''THE GOAT OF GOATS'' SCALABRINE?
I think he still needs some work. But is definitely crafty as hell
hes sick
Solid point guard, not about that flashy life.. Just plays the game to get the W.

Funny u spelled his last name wrong
The last fake?! Ohhhhh noooo! That was too raw
