No worries, even after 2 years of using Blender regularly, seeing lot of videos with quality of life things, my brain still thinks it's more effective to keep using the 0.001% information I learned in the donut tutorial 😂
Blender has 3 releases per year. In 2024 we saw Blender 4.1 with an 11 minute new features video. Blender 4.2 a few months later with EEVEE Next and a 21 minute new features video. Now Blender 4.3 with a 27 minute new features video. I've been donating to Blender for a few years now. Please donote. Most paid software has many times the budget that Blender has yet Blender is very stable / reliable and made with love. Please support Blender by donating and becoming part of the development fund. And I just knew someday that Christopher 3D, the Bob Ross of Blender, would finally make it into a new features video. He's awesome ❤
Besides the great new features in 4.3, which are super welcome; the cooperation between these people to show the new features again is just top notch. Love the effort that you guys put into this. Thanks!
@@rodolflum3444 I donated 25 euros before posting that message, I meant I wish I could donate much more and on a more regular basis, but I can't afford that... life is very expensive in communist UK these days.
Nice to see Christopher3D in this video, he makes great content. Maybe in version 4.4 we can get roughness truncation (view dependent roughness technique) included in the Principled BSDF v2 shader!
There are vital deprecated features that went undocumented or even mentioned in the docs and release notes like the curve resampling commands (command based resampling and GN based resampling are completely different things) Included in this list is auto-masking of strokes in sculpt mode, which was great to have, now only “mask active layer” remains. Sloppy, rushed release imo…
I still can't believe Blender is a free program! All the other 3D programs charge a big amount of money with subscriptions. Blender is getting better and better every update and has all of these amazing functions in one program! I have guilty conscience for using this program free. I have to donate!! I love you guys! ❤
Happy to say I finally have the money to donate to blender regularly. And I made it my goal to donate based on my current projects (gaming) revenue for the far future. Blender has been a game changer for me and my team and with every update you streamline and improve. If anyone can please donate to blender!
26:00 THANK YOU! I work with specific color palettes for my characters, so this is super useful. Now I can just copy the hex color from SAI 2 and paste it there without having the change the tab all the time.
Thanks for the update overview! I've been trying to prepare for the 4.3 update since hearing about the greasepencil changes last year and have been keeping an eye on this november update as well. Looking forward to playing with al these new features! Thanks again, what a condensed overview! :)
I want to see blender become the Industry Standard one day, so I just started a bronze membership, it's not much but if we all make a move, we can achieve great things together
Amazing presentation and excellent communication. Best is the community effort is growing, KUDOS to all of Blender creators, supporters and users! The BEST EVER software! Thank you!
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! TOUCHDOWN!!! I can finally put various Gizmos on Grease Pencil objects in Geometry Nodes, and animate using them!!! GENIUS!!!🎉🎉🎉
As someone who is brand-new to Blender but a long-time user of Photoshop, some of these new features make me feel a bit more at home. Grouping layers? Deciding which "objects" cast shadows on other ones? Sounds pretty familiar to me. This stuff is awesome!
Also now node groups supports having a default width. For people making a lot of node groups as assets in geo node and/or shader nodes this is kinda cool
love it love it love it!!!! thx so much guys!! It's really just a few simulation features for me that are still left to make Blender a true all arounder. Hope you guys will integrate the rbd branch that's currently out there into the main build.
26:39 In UI list, it was better without additional padding around icons (in Color Attributes) but it's better with additional padding around text (in Attributes).
Does the "Import Preferences" button that shows up in the splash screen the first time you run it not work? I don't understand why users keep mentioning this. Perhaps the UI is not clear, but literally one button brings all your add-ons and preferences from previous versions (basically it just copies over the folder and renames it to 4.3 instead of 4.2)
Thanks for all the hard work! One comment tho, an apparent mistake made it in. Linux already had hardware accelerated ray-tracing for as long as all other platforms using Nvidia GPUs with the Optix API. HIP-RT is the new version of AMD's HIP, and enables ray-tracing on their GPUs specifically.
can’t wait for someone to recreate the auto-adaptive ink lines simulation setup they have at Sony for spiderverse using the grease pencil geometry nodes
I really miss any improvements of the absolute core of any 3D program - modeling and texturing. How many people use Blender for 2D painting using Grease Pencil (which is receiving big updates in every release) vs 3D modeling (which basically didn't change since Blender 2.x)? Same with the program performance - with higher amount of objects even selecting takes seconds, similarly editing high poly meshes is still very slow. Then another core feature - Asset Manager is still extremely limited for years already - so it is barely usable for me (no snapping of linked assets, no way to reload it etc.), also UV editor is much slower than in previous releases ... and the list could go on. Don't get me wrong, I love Blender and find it incredible especially considering it is free, and I also find the most of the new stuff very useful, but I just can't be hyped about new releases when the program still struggles in the same basic areas like years ago.
I hope in the future roadmap blender adds a lot faster Cpu rendering on cycles. Using cpu for long term is cost effective for most indie studios than keeping upgrading gpus..also they have lot longer life cycle than gpus

"In short, which I am." This got me. Always love the presentation style of the geometry nodes section, thanks HarryBlends!
This blender node guy just killed the presentation, u r gineous!
I wish I could afford to donate more to support Blender. This is truly an amazing application!

Another fantastic update. And great to see/hear familiar faces/voices in an official Blender released video.
I love this new communal effort for these videos!
Strip snapping in the vse is one of the best additions in this whole update: awesome!

The new bevel weight tool is amazing - getting it closer to how fillet edge selections work in CAD apps.
Eevee light linking is the absolute best addition. Been waiting for this for ages
