- Meet Siam, the newest addition to the Monkeyland clan. Siam is a lar gibbon. Lar gibbons are also known as white-handed gibbons (Hylobates lar). Notice that Siam has no tail......this is because she is an lesser ape and apes do not have tails.

Half-way through he remembers that he forgot to bring the cap today, all this circus would be for nothing.
This is the jungle version of a kid playing on the rail road tracks.
The gibbon cannot fall off this thing. If he loses his balance, he will grab the railing real fast. These apes climb more dangerous things than a bridge and not fall off.

A human with correct anatomy should have slightly longer arms than entire length of the body by 1-4 cm. A person that is 180cm tall should be 181-184cm between the fingertips.

I love that place, and the Bird place next door. Is the gibbon still there that poses like a movie star? Lies on her side on the road, one hand supporting her head and the top leg bent and lowered a bit at the knee for modesty? Saw that the first time I came, so 2007. That's the time I got peed on too, from high in a tree. Another time I visited I discovered that one type of monkey poop is *exactly* the same colour as the benches you can sit on to have a coffee. You don't see it until you sit in it. But still a lot of fun, interesting and educational. And great stories to tell the grandkids when I get home to Canada.

@@Black.Sabbath Because monkeys are not evolved to walk on hard flat surfaces, and neither are we for that matter. Ropes are equivalent to vines in the wild, boards have none that I know of.
Their arms and legs are the reverse of ours: arms longer and stronger than legs. He went a long way on those short legs before taking a rest!
