Taylor Swift wasn’t even in the top 100 once, buuut asides from what everyone is saying about the years she wasn’t on Spotify and the fact that’s she’s re-recorded half of her music, she’s released like 243 songs which is a huuuge catalogue and I’d say most Swifties listen to a massive range of songs rather than just repeating the same 3 or 4, so her total streams have a much broader distribution rather than being centred on a small handful of bangers ☺️
yep the thing with Taylor is that she took her music off Spotify for 3 full years (idk exactly the reason why), but this caused songs that could easily be here like Blank Space, Shake it Off, I Knew you Were Trouble, Style and Wildest Dreams to be left out and also because of her re-recorded albums which makes it even more difficult to get a high number of streams for the same song as for example blank space and shake it off have 2 different versions. still, blank space is already top 140 and cruel summer is about to enter top 200 (while being #3 in the world currently on streams) so it can very well entering the top 100 soon
The reason Taylor's music wasn't on Spotify was that she didn't like how little they (spotify) paid artists. She wanted to keep her music off of Spotify, but her fans pressured her to put it back up on Spotify. I've been a Swiftie since reputation, and I love just how well she is doing. The fact that she left her old record label, Big Machine Records, and now owns the publishing rights to her music, the masters of her music, the gig rights. Taylor Swift LITERALLY runs, and is in charge of, her ENTIRE career - the publishing rights, owning the masters, setting up gigs and tour dates, and yes has managers for stuff (what CEO(-esque) people don't), but she is still the overall manager of her career. It's beautiful. Because of that, it made me realise that quite a few of the newer(-ish) artists I listen to have their name, or something that resembles who they are, as the record label name which I love cuz it tells people that said artist(s) care about wanting want to OWN the art they THEY MADE.
I feel The Weeknd is more of a contender as the next MJ. I actually dont know anyone who doesnt like his music, whereas Taylor Swift is very split. She may be number 1 on spotify rn but The Weeknd has been on top longer and is not that far behind still. I'm not saying he's the best artist of all time, thats Avicii, but he's got the popularity of MJ
Taylor has more streams, followers and monthly listeners on spotify and she took off her catalogue from spotify during the first major peak of her career in the 1989 era, her albums midnights and 1989tv had the two largest spotify debuts in history - so I'd say she's bigger there. Also on every other platform like TH-cam and apple music she otstreams him too. Shes the biggest selling femalr artist in pure sales this century too and is the highest grossing female tour act of all time (#4 of all time male or female) Let's not forget the 6 albums she debuted with 1m+ in the US. The most the weeknd did was around 400k which is still amazing, but there is a large difference. Chart wise she has 11 #1s and she was the first artist in history to occupy the entirety of the top ten. Also her concert film has already made over $250 million, the second highest grossing concert film hasn't even done 100 million - eras tour is on track to be highest grossing OAT too and still has another year to go! And on top of all that, she's more global than a lot might think too! There were a bunch of trending videos of taylors concert film in countries like Kenya, South Africa and India. Shes the #1 artist in daily streams worldwide and earned 26B streams globally this year - shed still be #1 without her two album releases this year too Sorry for the long reply 😂 I love them both but popularity wise taylor can't be compared to him at the moment I'd say
@@greatest8448 Yes but as a MJ replacement, she comes no where near either. I'm saying The Weeknd because he is more popular to general audiences. Taylor Swift is like marmite. You love her or you hate her. The Weeknd isn't for the most part.

This is an interesting take because it has over 2 billion plays, so obviously multiple people listen to it more than once. And on top of that, although personal preference and I can understand you don’t like it, that song is incredible. Their harmonizing is beautifully done. But again, to each their own.
it´s actually funny when you say that tiktok is crazy and wonder where these artists will be without tiktok and the song that is playing is BTS - Dynamite cause BTS definitely didn´t became the biggest artists in the world because of tiktok, actually is the opposite, BTS gained success organically on their own
I think my point may be misunderstood. I’m not saying that’s WHY any of these artists are famous, but I’m saying it does contribute to it. So my question with more detail would be: Would their songs be AS large without TikTok? Obviously all social media plays a part in everyone’s growth with any content, but my curiosity is just “how far” without it. Hopefully that hones in more on what I meant. 🤝
I'm a Christian and I have to disagree with some of the perspectives and details Ren addressed in the bible section. Aside from that I love his music, his mind, his pure love for mankind and the earth. He has always had this message throughout his music career. He has put pieces of it in many of his songs. I respect Ren for his integrity and he has never wavered from his original message. He is not interested in making a lot of money, he is interested in getting out his messages. If he just wanted money he has had many chances to sign very lucrative deals from many hungry record labels. He has declined them all because his messages would be shut down and his freedoms gone.
