If you didn't go through your teens in the 80's I feel bad for you. Forget everything you know or were told. The 80's produced the most powerful live acts ever. These guys decimated arenas the world over. I miss that music scene. Nothing will ever come close. Ever.

I miss the days of $25 general admission arena shows. How badly do you want front row kid?!? Even the cigarette smoke was cool because it made it impossible to detect who was smoking weed. Going to an arena show today pretty much sucks. Everything is way too expensive & the best seats get gobbled up by resellers with sophisticated software or given away to the corporate executives of whatever company owns the naming rights to the stadium. Don’t even get me started on That aspect of the industry…

@@YouthWillRise I seen Metallica at the late Civic Arena in Pittsburgh in the 80's and and had floor seats. The lights were still on and there were fold out chairs. It just so happened as soon as we entered the floor everyone pushed forward and said screw the seating. We ended up pretty close and it was cool.

My two favorite players. Very different players, too. So it's great to see them on a stage together playing an Yngwie classic. I think Steve understands Yngwie. Steve is just the nicest guy and I can see him extending Yngwie some grace and understanding regarding some of his "controversial" statements he's made about some other popular guitarists.
Most people can't imagine things from Yngwie's perspective...the freakish dedication to perfect his craft to the level he has....sure to make any man fill up with some disdain for those who put in half (or perhaps a smaller fraction) of the work he has.
It was beautiful to hear Yngwie refer to Steve as "my brother!" like that. Steve would be an awesome brother to have!
Just love the incredible music both of these guys make, everyone. Let the politics fall away. This level of art should be thoroughly appreciated for the gift that it truly is.

His feel, his use of the whammy and harmonics, those guys are as good as it gets but Vai is just beyond. He is a once in a lifetime talent and I feel lucky to have been alive and playing while he is in his prime so I can appreciate him. He has such a mastery of all facets of music, from being able to transcribe all Frank Zappa's solos at 17 to his instrumental triumphs of the '80s and '90s and every ensemble he puts together seems to top the last one. The word Guitar God it thrown around a lot but this guy is just miles above players like Zakk Wylde and even Yngwie and Nuno. Ah, if Randy had lived to see him on that stage too! I think he would have been as great himself, he had that feel and tone.

Vai proved himself more than worthy to share the stage with the guitar god. Vai went outside and beyond this dimension to reel in several of those stunts, left Malmsteen without a worthy Comeback. Malmsteens knowledge of music theory, his shifty antics, and his lightning speed coupled with Vai's otherworldly, dimensional warping creativity were epic encounters, pressing the envelope and transforming the ever evolving mastery of the guitar, the grail of rock music, of steel, of mind over sound, and into the threshold of spirit revelation.
